Lia Seeya
Alrighty, I'm hoping some of you computer-savvy people can help me with my question... If both you and a friend are using WiFi (wireless internet) and playing Neopets: - Will your IP addresses be the same? - If so, is it possible for you and your friend to get iced if Neo thinks you're earning NP using a side account? Thanks, everyone~ :D
Lion
In most cases, your IP'S will be the same. I can't really explain it, as this is an edited post. The other people below have explained it :P
Ashbash
Hmm that is an interesting question. Are you talking about you and your friend playing in the same place? Because my friend and I did that all the time when we lived in a dorm and we were fine but I could see that being a problem.
Lia Seeya
@Lion: Really? Because when I'm on the school WiFi, my IP matches with theirs. I know this because someone decided to use the WiFi and got themselves IP banned from a site (not blocked by the school). So now EVERYONE who uses it is on permaban. But then again, we use a proxy server. @num1ortonfan: Yes, same place and over the same network. I'm just scared of losing my account. ^^;; I noticed my post was reported earlier. O.o What happened? hrtbrk
Your IP will be the same if you're on the same wi-fi but maybe state on your account some where that more than one person uses the connection? I see that a lot on look-ups so maybe it will help.
Strategos
Actually, the notice is ignored by TNT. They've stated this in Neopian Times editorials several times. If you're on the same Wi-Fi connection, then your IP addresses will be the same. However, Neopets has more advanced tools to find cheaters besides IP address checking, because multiple people (ie. families) do play from the same computer. In all likelihood, you'll be fine as long as you don't break any rules.
Superfly
Just don't be stupid and transfer large amounts (or any) neopets or items between accounts. You should be fine then.

HAHA I always see little notes on the top of peoples look ups "My 14th cousin plays on the same computer as me! Don't freeze me"

Lia Seeya
I always see those "_____ uses my computer as well! Please don't freeze me!" Anyway, thanks for the input, everyone. I'll try to keep our accounts un-suspicious as we play on WiFi. :)
