Mimii
Is it an attempt to be more realistic? I think it's dumb!! I've been trying for an hour to go to the Neggery and she is taking an afternoon nap. ?!?!?! It's not even a real person, why is she making me wait?! Unstream
Haha yeah, I guess. Certain things just aren't available at certain times of the day. Like Tombola takes a break every day at 1 PM NST for an hour.
Xepha
Okay, I'm just laughing :P There is no answer to your question. I don't think it's silly... I try to do my dailies at a time when no one is "sleeping".
Ali Cat
It's annoying, but it's funny when you think about it xD Sometimes there's a glitch on King Hagan where it has the "Out for Lunch" sign on the chair up top, then a place to tell him your wisdom below it xDD -loves glitches- But yeah, they're pretty annoying ;P The perfect time to do my dailies is during an hour where Scratchcards and Tombola are closed. Lia Seeya
Because they'd go on strike if they were all forced to work 24/7. :laughingsmiley: Seriously though, I have no idea. o.O I just do my dailies when they're all awake.
Coco
No idea why they do that but it sure is funny when you think about it. XD Maybe it's a server thing. I dunno.
lazycrazykitten
It does happen to be rather inconvenient. For some reason I always want to play tombola when it's closed. Grrr....
Taliesan
Meh, they always say that when I feel like going to them. Its fairly pointless except to be annoying xD
Viridian
I think it's a way to stop people from using a macro to do their dailies... They do that in many games, annoying for the real players though. ;)
The Darkest Faerie
It might be to do with real life law. I mean, a shop I go to closes late on a sunday evening , about 11 PM, and opens up about 7 hours later, 6:00 AM on the monday, to follow the law. It might be the same with the tombola and the kings. naalaro
From a game design standpoint, it achieves and maintains realism, while at the same time, as someone have already said, letting background server activity to update and load uninterrupted, pretty nifty if you ask me. However, i personally wish they take this realism to higher levels and create shopkeepers with variable patterns in their lives instead of the usual breakfast, lunch etc always at the same time. It would be fun to see what happens if the scratchcard wocky catches a flu and has to close shop for a whole week or something, or maybe decides to hold a discount a certain times on a specific special date. The way i see it, realism in neopets can be taken to whole new heights, with the level of programming these days, it would be possible to program variable patterns and paths for every NPC in neopia to create a network of self updating data to simulate a real, breathing world. May.
Yeah, I also think it's because they wanted to add a more real effect. ^_^

Wow that all sounds like it would be so much more annoying and at times so much better. The only thing is who would want to do all that programing if everything is working fine how it is now. FutureTXTurkey
Yeah I don't know about shutting them down for a week and all that, but it would be neat as the graphics and programing capabilities of the site progress to see interaction, realism, and character development reach new heights. There are a lot of place TNT could make some really exciting things happen if they just took it to that next level.
