Well, I wonder how accurate my 9 year old's memories will be, lol. I'd hope Italy's come a long way as a tourist destination since. >_< We stayed in Cattolica which is a small town on the Adriatic coast, WOW is that water salty! I mean the Mediterranean is a lot saltier than open ocean water, and the Adriatic's a back water of the Med so getting a mouthful of that was a bit of a shock. ? My swimming improved MASSIVELY during those two weeks splashing around in very salty water though! I didn't notice until I went back into the school pool once we were home again and realised I was doing way better than normal.
The food was nothing special, breakfast was a "continental" one, so bread and jam, lol. White bread that tasted like it had no salt in it, and the milk I was given to drink was sterilised/UHT so it tasted weird. xD The evening meal were perfectly decent, but nothing fancy.  Only vague memories of what we got. I remember pasta ofc, and veal a few times which I'd never had before (and not since either actually!). I DO remember there was only 2 options to choose from. I only remember this because one day one choice was lasagne and I didn't pick that but mum did (I can't remember what I had) I tried a bit of hers and it was really nice so every day after that I came hopefully down to dinner, wanting lasagne to be one of the options again, but it never was. Woe!
Every day dessert was a scoop or two of ice cream in the ugly aluminium dishes all hotels used at that point, the ice cream was nothing special either, Italy, you should be ashamed of yourself.

For drinks you got a choice of sparkling or still bottled water, lemon or orangeade (and nothing like Orangina that you'd heard of). You bought a full-size bottle and whatever you didn't drink was put to one side and you got it back the next day. You know, thinking about it . . . it might even have been just left on your table, and we thought that was good!! ?
The lifts in the hotel were breaking all the time, we were fairly high up, 6th floor maybe? Which also meant that our floor often didn't have any water, and when we did what came out of the taps was often all rusty.
Am I doing a good job selling Italy as a destination? Am I?!
Thing is though, it was still a lovely holiday, basically because we didn't know any better, but still, lol.
Even the rain in Italy is nice. Big fat warm raindrops, it fascinated me. The money fascinated me too! The fact that £1 = approx. a gazillion Lira. The Lira denominations went down so small that the shops often couldn't give all the change people were owed in money, so cashiers had a big tub of sweets on the top of their till and you'd be given a few of those as well as coins. You can imagine how much this thrilled a 9 yr. old! I guess the advent of the Euro would have killed that cute tradition. ?

it's nice to see ppl who're into birds!! theyre my favourite animal and one of my biggest hobbies... i live in seoul, so when i decide to go on walks i always walk on cheonggyecheon (a man-made river) with my gf. they always have herons and stuff on the river and theyre really cute!! i always love to see them, theyre not really afraid of people either ?
but aside from wild birds im very into parrots/keeping birds! one of my korean friends owns a business called lip parrot which breeds/sells birds but it's also a cafe where you can have a lemonade and chill out with some parrots hehe. i usually go every week or so, checking out the place. i have a bias, of course, in the cafe. its a major mitchells that i knew since he was a baby! but these days i think he hit birb puberty because he gets way, way too overstimulated TT we usually play together a lot but last time i went he bit me so hard it drew blood on my fingers and he wouldnt let go. ive had years of birb experience but this shocked me so badly, it never happened before! i was extremely shocked i kind of teared up because i didnt know how else to react... but i still love mandu lol haha i think these things just happen!! does anyone else have parrots?? (i wish i could keep one! my apartment doesnt allow pets... : ( )

yeah the way it is in japan is like you can sit in the cafe and then if you want to hold the animal you have to pay for it.... i think its just how it is there! a lot of people there are afraid of animals so they just want to look at it rather than interact. ive seen a lot of this actually haha they always have cockatiels and budgies for these kind of people if they want to pay to hold birds.
at my friends place in seoul you just pay for a drink and go wild HAHAHA i sit there for about 6 hours omg lol >< yes you have to snuggle one!!!! find the nearest one to snuggle and do it !!
(seems like i can only attach one image... TT_TT this is the major mitchells being held by my gf i think when he was still a little younger lol)

I am from California in the U.S. Here we are a very mixed community and not segregated at all like other areas of the U.S. I am white (not sure really what my heritage is) and my boyfriend is Mexican. Most people I know are from Mexico or their family came from Mexico. Sometimes I meet people from Columbia, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Brazil that are residence here and love when they talk about their culture. I absolutely love hispanic culture and language because I grew up with it and really enjoy being able to take part in it as a lot of it is integrated into California since it used to be part of Mexico.  Most of our street names and cities are in Spanish. I think a lot of people hear these names like 'camino norte' ,'Los Osos' 'Los Angeles' or 'La puente' for example and dont know their meaning in Spanish since we are not required to learn a second language.  It is always sunny here and I've never had a Christmas that wasn't hot. So all those songs about Christmas in the snow are lies. LOL (our winter is December, January, and February for those of you outside of north america) .  We have had a long drought and a lot of farmers have lost their crops because there is no water.   Where I live you can go to the city, the beach, the desert, and the mountains within a 30-40 minute drive so if you want to go surfing and snowboarding in the same day that is possible..  Oh and there are a lot of earth quakes here. Mostly small and you don't always feel or notice them. I've never felt a big earth quake but some do shake my house a bit and only last seconds.
I've always wondered how other people live and I find it very interesting when I discover things like for example I just learned what brown sauce is and that people from the UK use it as one of their main condiments. I really want to purchase some online now.
So that is a brief view of my area. I am interested in how everyone else sees their world or what is unique to them, or can you relate to me?
