i got today.. one of my only decent daily results as of late haha

congrats! getting game trophies always feels like a great achievement to me - they make up a big part of my neopets goals. on all of my accounts combined i've probably gained about 15 (though on my current main i think i only have 4 or 5).

i am around 5'9" or 5'10" and i used to think i was super tall but lately i've noticed that i'm really not all that much of a giant after all. i don't stand out in a crowd or anything and most people don't look too extremely small next to me.

I've read the books, the first one was amazing, the others got progressively worse. The third book made me so frustrated that I posted a foot long rant about it in my review blog. I heard that the movie isn't as good as the book, but since the first book was really good, I might watch it anyways. If the movies continue being worse than the books, I probably won't watch the 3rd one.

i don't think they got progressively worse at all. yeah the third book was pretty bad because she just killed everybody off and was way too eager to wrap the story up and so the end was really rushed and the closing lines were SO LAME. i thought catching fire was brilliant though! pretty fantastic series. wasn't expecting to like it but i'm officially a fan haha. saw the movie the day after it came out in nz (couldn't go to the midnight premiere :-() with my girlfriend and we booked luxury seats and everything. it was pretty good but i felt like if you hadn't read the books you would have a lot of trouble following the movie. i wrote a review post about it on tumblr that i guess i could post here. maybe i'll edit this post with it later

the lutari actually looks pretty cool! seems they've put a bit more effort into it than the other eventide pets

oh god i all of a sudden desperately want a woodland uni.. i was looking for pets to post in the 'worst colour' thread and i came across it and it is beautiful. PLEASE CAN I HAVE IT

 

edit: spotted a woodland pb for 6mil in the auction genie. perhaps i'll buy it..

i'm glad the post-customization faerie flop has been covered - saves me a lot of time ranting. i'll just make one comment here, lest i really get started and never stop:

 

i can use photoshop too, neopets. WELL DONE. not

my old laptop used to occasionally run at 80ºC+ when playing graphics intensive games and there were no issues. the majority of laptops are built to turn themselves off if they get too hot (i think on mine it's a temperature of 105ºC). i wouldn't worry about it unless you start getting BSODs or serious glitches within your system on a regular basis. laptops are built to handle pretty high core temperatures.

didn't hear about this until now so it clearly hasn't caused too much of an uproar but my best guess is that the sounds are environmental, to do with the northern lights screwing with magnetic antennae or yeah solar flares impacting our magnetic field or energy from within the earth itself affecting the magnetic poles. all that aside it could just be a hoax, people imagining things because of what they've read (the human brain is a very powerful tool), simple everyday background noise that has been accentuated (perhaps by paranoia) or even a weird movie viral. people just need to live and not panic about rubbish like this.

i like maraquan, royal, water, faerie and maractite. it's hard to choose, though - different colours look best on different pets.

today is easter egg day and my girlfriend and i had a really nice day yesterday easter egg shopping and just doing whatever because we have the house to ourselves this weekend :-)

this has never happened to me.. the only colour-change event that i've had turned my royalboy kougra invisible and that was pretty bad. i'm glad boochi missed your pet! congrats on the ffq :-)

i don't at all have an addictive personality and grow tired of things (especially things on the internet) quite quickly, but neopets has held my interest off and on for almost ten years now. i think it is a lot to do with how much there is to achieve on the site and how it is possible to see the manifestations of your achievements so clearly. i also adore my pets, especially in the absence of my cat since i've moved away from home. the games are pretty fun too. i suppose it's just a combination of a lot of things. it's a damn good site haha

i usually create male pets and have a LOT of them but lately i've decided to try and balance things out a bit. i've got a male and a female pet on my new/old main and i intend to try and keep it reasonably equal from there.

 

side note: i prefer the male variant of a pokemon in almost all cases. i'm not sure why

i got the pile of sand today and was super excited by all of the possibilities but all i got was a forgotten shore background. not cool

i was never into prank calling but one of my cousins who i used to spend a lot of time with due to us being the same age used to absolutely THRIVE off them.. making prank calls was legitimately her favourite activity. some of my friends also used to make prank calls (off my phone, no less), but only to people we knew. they stopped after we got a call from the cops because they had been harassing one of my friend's exes lol

 

i also used to get into skype calls with people i had met online who were mostly from nz and australia and they would use some number to dial businesses in the usa in order to prank call them. it was usually pretty hilarious but i was more of an observer than a participant. they wanted to use my accent for a call once and i just couldn't bring myself to do it.

 

ok enough of the anecdotes. tl;dr: prank calling is almost always annoying. find a better way to entertain yourself.

i dunno, i really like slsl. it does take a long time in comparison to the other games but i guess it's a matter of preference. some people might spend all of their time playing slsl while others may allocate their time differently. as long as people are participating and enjoying it, i see no need to replace slsl. it adds a bit of variety to the tournament.

i usually win if i go left left right or right right left. i don't think there is any surefire way to get to the end but those two combinations get me through quite often. i won 10k np the other day from left left right haha

i'm 19 and i've been playing since i was 9 or 10. on neopets i've come across A LOT more people in their late teens or (well) into adulthood than those who are still kids or are in their early teens. that's probably because young players aren't that involved with the more social aspects of the site though

- krawks are seriously overrated

- trolling is pathetic

- i find people writing huge novels about their pets and characterizing them (especially as humans or humanoids) really weird

- rw names for pets are rubbish.. i don't want a pet named after an object lol and i can't see why anyone would

- the lab map is a waste of 1+ mil neopoints, it rarely generates good results

- most of the recent colour releases have been pretty bad. eventide and woodland both look like bad photoshop gradients (although there are a few pets that look OK in both colours)

- a lot of pets lost out in the conversion process. faerie pets especially aren't half as nice looking as they used to be
