How your neopet got its name?

Hey, I'm new here, but not really new to neopets..you see I just returned to neopets after a LONG absence. Boy how things have changed! The game is sooo much better! I'll never be bored again!

 

Annyways, how did you name your pet?

 

I named my pet, lycaonu, after a a wolf. You see, there's a gray wolf subspecies with the word "lycaon" in its scientific name. That was taken, so I did what I normally do when that happens. I added a vowel. Lycaon+u= Lycaonu.

SquirlyBlueEyes: Blue Wxeetok upon creation, so again, the name came from the look. Kind of like a squirrel and with blue eyes.

 

GroovingEmperorKuzco: I had an Eyrie when they released the Gnorbu, and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE The Emperor's New Groove, so I promptly dumped the lion-birdie and got me a lama-like Neopet! He's now named GroovingEmpKuzco dye to space-issues.

 

And the space-issue was the addition of '2nd' to all of their names. My first account on Neopets was frozen and refuzed returned after it was hacked =( so I made all the same Neopets, but added 2nd to honor my first account. GroovingEmperorKuzco2nd was too long =)

I adopted Kaihrou from the pound in 2006... so I didn't pick the name and I don't think it has a particular meaning.

 

My Pteri however... well, you know Gimli from Lord of the Ring... I played with the letters and got 'Gemely', and I wanted to make the pet feel more important, so he became Sir Gemely :)

I used to work for Tradestaff Training when I started my account, I had a naming block when I was trying to think of a name so I named him Tradestaff. I had two other pets and named them TradestaffJnr and TradestaffJnrJnr and then dumped them. The Lenny is temporary so I just named it Lennnym3l3ana.

Well I don't remember where the 'stalker' in my Grarrl's name came from, but I'm pretty sure that the '271' was the result of a maths equation I was solving at the time. :P

My pets names (Lirimae, _Benton_, Ataldair, __Harlequinn__) were made up/picked when I made them. I don't remember there being any special meaning behind any of them. I just made sure there weren't numbers involved! I hate that.

For my second pet, I call it because its close to my own name which means someone close to me...

I have four pets: Ahrria, D1ZC0, Flamencie, and Vanesio. Ahrria is a play on aria, which is a solo in an opera. D1ZC0 is in reference to the afro my wocky is sporting ;)

I thought my pink lenny looked like a flamingo, so Flamenice is a play on that, and I adopted Vanesio.

carisha975103- Well, I haaaate this name so much. Back in the day, there was this pet name randomiser. I used it (pfft, I was 7...) and got carisha975. That name was taken, so I chose carisha975103.

It's a pretty long story, to be honest.

Eligibility- Chose a random name (I was 9) that wasn't taken and I liked the name Eligibility ^_^

miniyassy- Adopted from the pound...I hate the name but I'd like to know who created that pet and why they chose that name lol

0onextyearo0- Again, adopted from the pound. I liked the name though. :) It's interesting n_n

Hmm let's see.. my pets don't really have nice names (I was 13 when I named 2 of them)

 

bluey_cluey_bubbles (from blues clues -the nickelodeon kids show- the little dog Blue was just so cute)

Chlayx (wanted to make the name Clay sound nicer, so I just played around with the letters and tada!)

Well lets start with my chia, her name is Croy(really Croy00) got her name because of the 'c' in chia and she is soo cute so the word roy then cry came into my head.

 

Next is my adorable wocky who's name is Kitthie, wockies are like cats, kittie was takes, other ways of writing it were taken so I got Kitthie.

 

Finally my mynci who is called Cheikz which came to my mind when I saw him but not the spelling.

dragondude21394- While it is currently a Peophin it was originally a Skeith. I named it Dragondude because it was the name of my skeith on my old account. I chose Dragondude because it was a male dragon and 21394 is actually my DOB. I really dislike this name, especially because it's my favourite pet.

eaglestrike07- It's an Eyrie. It looks like an eagle and I created it in 2007

Cheesie_pickles - Cheese + Pickles... I was astounded that the name wasn't already taken! (I also have cheese_pickels2 and cheesie_pickles3 on other accounts)

 

Cheesie_mcpotato - This one has a real meaning! I was eating a bacon and cheese potato from wendys and somehow got around to thinking that Mcdonalds should sell baked potatoes too... its true!

Oh... I have pets on a side account too... The theme was 'Anti' something. So I got Antidepresseur and Anticorps. Recently adopted a Hissi on that account too, but he isn't following the tradition!

I have two Neopets - La_Lydia and Miss_Grundie

 

I'm always terrible at having to think up username's etc so since I had my blue Elephante as a female (and I think she just looks female anyway *lol*) I chose a favourite "human" name - Lydia. I guess Lydia must have been taken and then the only thing I could think of was to put "La" in front of it *Shrug*

 

Miss_Grundie was in fact a Grundo so that's self-explanatory :) (I came across the place where you could adopt them, felt sorry for them, and adopted one). However I later won a morphing potion and since I didn't know what it did, I used it on Miss_Grundie rather than La_Lydia and I now have a green Uni named Miss_Grundie :eh:

On my main, there's Salamon809, Renamon270, Lopmon155, and Angewomon524. Obviously, all named after digimon (it was when I first made my account, my nameing skills were.... Lacking) with numbers.

 

On one of my side accounts, there's Chrisary (Christmas + Starry, his colors), Meitaiyou (Mei is bright and Taiyou is sun, both in Japanese. I have an OC with that name and I have a particular liking for it), Ylannina (There was a character is a book I like named Alanna, and that was taken so I fiddled with it till I came up with her name), and Donazioni (means donations in Latin or something).

 

On another side, there's GreenFlite (his orig color+ a varation of flight since he's a Pteri), and all the rest on that side and my two others are adopted, so I don't know the name story.

Most of my pets on my main account (brunoplasma, Zadue, Sunshine_Motorola) are adopted so I don't know what their names meant to the people who created them lol Iz (iz9piper) is a play on my own name, my lucky number and my favourite character from Charmed xD

 

On my side accounts I did create most of the pets though so here goes!

Cantac - It just sounded pretty lol

Chavaun - He was adopted as a lab-to-adopt candidate before the pound went down :P

Kyra_k67 - She was originally on an account where all the names ended in _(letter)67 and I just liked "Kyra".

Piper_witch_9 - Another related to my favourite Charmed character!

Avonhe - It just randomly occured to me when I was down at Avonhead in Christchurch last year.

Xiphoi - The "xiphoid" is the fancy name for one of the bones in your chest and that was taken so I just dropped the d.

Hyxea - I think this was one I came up with for Metroid a while back that he didn't use but I liked lol

Amarni_9 - Yeah, no idea where this one came from xD She might have been adopted, now that I think about it... I've had her a while.

Investigatum - I was creating a Buzz for the FFQ avie and was lost for name ideas... then I found the issue of the student magazine from that week and it was called "investigatum" which I figured would do!

Wolf_c67 - Another of the _(letter)67 pets, made to match the original I'd adopted from the pound to zap.

Avatar_solutions - The last of my old "name the pet to match whats on the petpage" pets lol

Brynde - A shortened version of the Brynderwyns, which is an area up by where my family has a holiday home.

Ella_dog444 - Ella was the girl I was babysitting at the time and the last part matches the account she is on :)

Olecrae - Another play on the name for a bone marking on one your elbow bones.

--Kaelmyr: probably my favorite name, and pet for that matter -- I first created him almost 12 years ago after reading The Golden Compass (one of my favorite books then and I still enjoy it.) I made up my own daemon, a dragon named Kaelmyr; I'd almost forgotten about it by the time I started Neopets, but when I was searching the Create-A-Pet for my first pet and saw the Draik, I just had to make him. :) (Of course, he actually had to start as a Shoyru and waited a very long time before I could afford the morphing potion, but we'll ignore that. ;))

--Mephistokun: Made while reading Goethe's Faust, based on a German legend; Mephistopheles is the devil to whom Dr. Faust sells his soul. "Mephistopheles" was taken, so I chopped off the last half and added -kun (Japanese suffix indicating affection or familiarity, usually only used for males.)

--Ssiyoma: "Ssi" from Hissi + "yoma" (Japanese word for demon or apparition)

--Elokki: From Loki, a figure in Norse mythology; just played with the name until I came up with something that wasn't taken. :P

 

Side 1:

--Kaieril: No particular meaning except that "Kai" either is itself or is part of almost all of my own RPG/online names.

--Fallen___Angel13: Adopted; but the name of that account means fallen angel in Japanese (at least theoretically, my Japanese is very limited so it's probably not really right) so I thought it fit.

--Aspodel: "Asp" (old word for venomous snake) + "asphodel" (a plant; in the Harry Potter books it's a component of the Draught of Living Death).

 

Side 2:

--Amaelda, Kiirende, and Mikkui: all randomly made up to be names that weren't taken and that I thought sounded good. :P Probably somewhat influenced by the naming conventions in several fantasy/sci-fi series I'd been reading at the time.
