I gots an idea for a high level mage attack.

The ability to attack with levitating swords each with a will of their own. I like that idea from KOTOR2.

Okay guys, I have another announcement to make: me and Cameron have determined everybody's initial stats. First, of course, I will explain the stats we will be using in the contest.

 

Max HP (or health points): Like in most cases, this stat basically determines how much of a pounding you can take. Damage from attacks will take away your HP, and certain special skills will restore it.

Attack: This is how much of a punch you pack. The amount of damage your skills do will be based off this.

Defence: This is how effective you are at stopping attacks. The total damage from an enemy's attack will be the attacks value - your defence.

Speed: Determines how far you can move.

Skill: Determines how many skills you can use in one turn.

 

And now for the initial stats.

Max HP: 45

Attack: 10

Defence: 5

Speed: 3

Skill: 5

 

You will be able to increase your stats in 3 ways:

- Through certain events (eg., undergoing training)

- By distributing experience (you can get experience after battles or through certain special procedures we will unveil later - the higher a stat gets, the more experience will be needed to increase it)

- Through certain skills used by you or your allies (the effects of these are only temporary though, and there will also be some skills that can have a negative effect on your stats, so watch out!)

 

Temporary effects on your stats will be shown in brackets beside your normal stats. Eg:

 

Bob

 

HP: 45/45

Attack: 10 (+2 [3])

Defence: 5

Speed: 3

Skill: 5

 

You can see above that Bob's attack has been temporarily boosted by 2 points (indicated by the '+2'). You can also see a '[3]' inside the brackets, which indicates that the effect will last for 3 more attack turns. Please note that this value excludes the current attack turn.

Thanks for letting me come back for this Wildlife sequel. =)

 

Judging from every single RPG-style game I've played, mages are the best to go. They have healing powers (at least the ones that I played), can attack far-range and short-range, and I've always been awed by the brilliance of the attacks, (especially when the game was in extremely good quality).

However, I always like to be a part of something that seems unlikely to win. Which means warriors....>.>

 

Hey Cameron, is there a certain deadline for when we have to decide by?

Right. Are you sure you want to leave? Nothing's even happened yet. I'll take you off for now. Vira, I'm not entirely sure when we'll stop the enlisting, but we'll say...at least a few days. I'll alert you before we close it by PM.

In answer to Loc's question (and to explain a bit about the skill system), yes, all mages will have a chance to obtain healing powers. You will be given a list of skills to choose from at some point, and you will have to decide which ones to learn.

 

And Vira, the warriors will have medics of some sort as well. ;)

Can I just say that, to clarify, all storyline, character or ability-based questions should be directed to AA as he is in charge of the actual script and people. I deal mostly with the game's mechanics.

8-3 (it's actually 9-4 :P ) isn't good odds for us warriors at the moment. Something tells me this is going to be challenging...

Well if there's any challenging, me and Cameron will be doing it. If the odds are stacked against the warriors, they will be balanced with stats, skills, and NPC units. Wait - did I just say NPC units? *cough* I meant, uh, tactical positions, yeah. :shiftyeyes_anim:

When you said the original stats a page ago, it didn't say anything about the original Wildlife. So will the stats be just magically added at the beginning, or somehow obtained in the middle?

This is a completely different story. The only thing carrying over is the prize. You are simply a peasant, and those are just your natural, un-trained stats. Thanks Tom for the 411, I never noticed XD.

Eh? The prize isn't carrying over to my knowledge. :P

 

The basic stats you saw are just a baseline. They will be added too immediately for everyone once they start on a side.

 

And just to keep everybody excited add a little mystery to the contest, the final prize for this contest will be kept under wraps.

Ok, so the skills are almost done, and there isn't much time left on registration. In other words, (you can wake up now) the contest will be starting shortly. Once the skills are finalised, we'll go ahead with closing entries 3 days from when it's all ready. I'll send everyone who hasn't chosen a side a 3 day warning PM, and then you'll unfortunately be too late :(. Once it's started, everyone will get a PM to alert them from yours truly :).

I'm not panicking, in fact I think I'd rather have a smaller team. I just didn't want incredible odds stacked against us. 9-5 isn't that bad.

It's true, large numbers make teamwork all that harder. To contestants: The gameplay will massively revolve around your communication with your teammates. Some skills will require you to plan with allies, but doing so will give you a huge advantage...
