antiaircraft
I don't seem to have received a prize for the detergent question yet. I think I'll finish up my GraphicMania entry either tomorrow or the day after... Trivia: Contrary to popular belief, Chameleons change their skin colour depending on their mood and health, not to blend in with their surroundings. Meeptroid: The Chameleon's main predator appears to be snakes. Strategos: Chameleons are zygodactyl. It is an arrangement of toes in a very odd way to us humans. The Evil Guy: Chameleons' eyes can swivel to focus on two separate targets simultaneously, as well as giving the chameleon a 360 degree field of vision. Meeptroid: A few chameleons are ovoviviparous, meaning that they hold the eggs inside their body until they are about to hatch. Strategos: Chameleons can not turn every color, despite popular belief. They can only turn green, blue, turquoise, black, and brown. Meeptroid: Running water is the preferred way Chameleons drink. Still water doesn't attract them much. Meeptroid:Adult Chameleons usually tend not to eat flies. The Evil Guy: Fully grown chameleons of different species range in size from 2.5 to 80 centimeters long. Meeptroid: A Chameleon's tongue can shoot out of its mouth at a little more than 13 miles per hour. The Evil Guy: The name 'chameleon' is derived from Greek words meaning 'ground lion' Meeptroid: Large Chameleons have been known to feast upon different types of birds and even other lizards. The Evil Guy: Most species of Chameleon are listed under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, and therefore cannot be legally exported/imported as pets. Meeptroid: There are more than 80 known species of chameleons. Strategos: Some larger chameleons tend to eat other lizards. The Evil Guy: Chameleons have an average life span of 9-10 years. Meeptroid: Chameleons, unlike most reptiles, can not regenerate lost tails. Myriad: Like many other reptiles, chameleons also shed their skin. A chameleons skin will not grow when the chameleon does, so they will shed it when it gets too tight. The shed skin is also a good source of protien, so often a chameleon will eat its old skin. Meeptroid: Chameleons are very territorial lizards and usually do not socialize with others. The Evil Guy: Contrary to popular belief, Chameleons change their skin colour depending on their mood and health, not to blend in with their surroundings. Ellie_Penguin
I'm sorry guys, but I have to cancel the contest.....NOT!! HAHAH. Just a little joke XD hehe. Anyways, I sent all of the prizes so there shouldn't be any pending ones anymore. I apologize for delaying them! If you don't accept the items, I will send them back so don't worry! So yesterday I didn't post a question just to give you guys some "free" time to start on your Wallpaper. Tonight there won't be a question, BUT if you want a hint. I will post it before I go to school...VERY VERY early XD. I've been posting at night for too long so I'm hoping to give other people a chance to answer and get back on track. Enjoy! antiaircraft
Ha ha. Very funny. :P Well since nobody's answered the main question this week: Dinosaurs did evolve, like all other creatures. Evolution works through a process called natural selection: basically, creatures better adapted to their environment are more likely to survive and out-compete others for food, water, territory, shelter, and mates. That means that they are more likely to have offspring that will pass on their genes to others, and thus over time (through the mixing and matching of genes from the male and the female in sexual reproduction) the population of a species will change to become better adapted to its environment. A Brief History of Dinosaur Evolution (thrown in for good measure :P ) The ancestors of dinosaurs were members of a group of reptiles called archosaurs (archosaurs today include crocodiles, and birds, even though birds are not reptiles). Early dinosaurs appeared from this group somewhere in the middle or late Triassic (dinosaurs are classified as archosaurs by the way). Fossils suggest that the first dinosaurs to evolve took the form of small, bipedal (two-legged) carnivores, both minor predators and scavengers. However, during the Triassic period most ecological niches were occupied by other reptiles (mostly other archosaurs), and so the dinosaurs remained a relatively minor group. However, all this changed during the Triassic-Jurassic extinction event. Like all the extinction events, scientists can't be sure of exactly what happened, but according to the fossil record most of the remaining early archosaurs were wiped out, leaving their ecological niches wide open. This opened the door for a newer group of archosaurs - namely the dinosaurs - to take over, and they promptly did so, diversifying into many different groups and coming to dominate the Jurassic. Edit: I pick

Meeptroid
Well, here is my submission for GraphicMania. Upon upload, the image was slighlty resized, so the text is a little smaller. It's still readable however. (I had no trouble, at least.) Spinosaurus Hopefully this meets the requirements and whatnot. (My Spinosaurus came out pretty well in Microsoft Paint, no?) Xepha
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Bonus Question Prize: Food -What is an Assonance? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We name assonance the repetition of a vowel sound in poetry or prose. The assonance occurs on close syllables and is emphasizing the sound. I can't really explain it better... it's not so common in English, but a little more in French or Spanish ;p

GraphicMania Congratulations Isabel. The people have spoken and they've chosen your entry as the winner! Congrats to the rest of you who participated! Isabel: You've won yourself a nice PB! Must be your lucky day, eh? Metroid and Xepha: You both win a nice package for your Neopets! You all did a great job and I think you deserve a nice consolation prize, too. The package includes: a book, food, toy, potion, battledome item and a medicine! Get ready people! Below is your new task! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Question of the Day Subject: Medieval History Level: Hard Answer: Long enough to explain 16) Explain the process of Chinese Printing in Medieval History. Isabel cannot answer this question! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bonus Question Prize: Battledome Item -The question is simple, what is Medieval Time? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GraphicMania Well, you guys know the rules! If you don't remember, please read my first post. Deadline: Sunday Feb 3rd at 7am NST! Prize: Paint Brush! Challenge: We go back to Medieval Times. Your job is to create a story based on Medieval Culture (keep it appropiate). Hint: knights and castles. The story can be as long as you want (one paragraph should do). Once you're done with your writing, your next job is to draw your story. It doesn't have to be all professional, just as long as you draw what you told in the story. You don't even have to colour it! I just want to see your story come to life. Materials: Since it's a drawing, you will need paper and a pencil. You may use colour pencils, paint, or any other medium. Remember this is a RESEARCH contest, not an Art Contest. If you don't have a scanner, you can take a picture. If you cannot take a picture, use MS Paint ONLY (this is a program most people are familiar with). Submission: Submit your story by writing it (or copying and pasting it) on a new post. Scan, Save and post your drawing along with the post. Judging: You will be judged mainly on Research. If your entry is poor on Research you will not qualify. Again, the art doesn't have to be the best thing ever. You can even draw stick figures and still win if you did your research well! *NOTE* Anyone who signed up can participate. Isabel you may choose whether you want to submit an entry for this part. You CAN submit an entry even if you answered the Question of the Day! Have fun!
