Meeptroid
Trivia: Adult Chameleons usually tend not to eat flies. And... here is the list of trivia already used just to make sure no one repeats one: Meeptroid: The Chameleon's main predator appears to be snakes. Strategos: Chameleons are zygodactyl. It is an arrangement of toes in a very odd way to us humans. The Evil Guy: Chameleons' eyes can swivel to focus on two separate targets simultaneously, as well as giving the chameleon a 360 degree field of vision. Meeptroid: A few chameleons are ovoviviparous, meaning that they hold the eggs inside their body until they are about to hatch. Strategos: Chameleons can not turn every color, despite popular belief. They can only turn green, blue, turquoise, black, and brown. Meeptroid: Running water is the preferred way Chameleons drink. Still water doesn't attract them much. Izzy ♥
11) What ancient lost fortress city was discovered virtually intact by an American (who later became a Govenor and an US Senator) in 1911? Name the city and the American. The city was called Machu Picchu, and was discovered by a man named Hiram Bingham in 1911. It was discovered in the Andes under vines and moss. It is believed that Machu Picchu was a summer retreat for Inca Rulers. Items excavated by Hiram Bingham are in a traveling exhibit sponsered by Yale University Peabody Musesum. There is a highway leading to the city, that was opened in 1948, and is named after Hiram Bingham (the Hiram Bingham Highway). EDIT: I pick #9 :) Thanks Ellie! Ellie_Penguin
PENDING PRIZES Round Nine Winner: DOOM = codestone (SENT) Bonus Winner: Isabel- Dubloon (SENT) Round Ten Winner: AA- petpet (SENT) Bonus: Isabel Food and Plushie (SENT) Round Eleven Winner: Isabel- PaintBrush Bonus: DOOM - Book (SENT) ------------Above you will see the pending prizes that I will be sending tonight and early tomorrow. If you spot any mistakes, or I forgot to add you, please let me know! ------------------------------------- Introducing: GraphicMania About: Every week I will be posting a Knowledge related theme (i.e. Egyptian Culture). Your job is to come up with a nice Graphic (could be wallpaper, avatar, etc. But I will let you know which type I'm looking for), about that theme! In your Graphic you must show knowledge of the theme. Let's say you create an Egyptian Culture Wallpaper. You would have to write some interesting facts related to that culture, plus combine your own images about it! So this is like a presentation poster you would do for school. Deadline: GraphicMania starts on a Monday and ends on a Sunday. On Monday the winner is picked and a new theme will be posted. Requirements: Your ability to research and your imagination! You can use MS Paint, draw it, photoshop, etc. Anything works as long as you show you did your research! You may post your own links reference. Time: You have a week and I'm not asking you to make anything pro. This should NOT get on the way of your daily homework or any chores you may have. Just make your Graphic look nice and clean and you are set! Prizes: They will depend on the type of Graphic. The most expensive prize will be awarded for a Wallpaper. The cheapest will be for an avatar. Prizes will include PBs, books, but NEVER junk. I will also award neopoints. *NOTE* Even if you answer the Knowledge Questions, you can participate! GraphicMania starts on Monday January 21st! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There will be no question tonight as I would like to give people who get online in the morning, a chance. You can discuss the new feature if you want and ask any questions.
antiaircraft
This sounds like an interesting part of the contest. By 'write some interesting facts' do you mean we place the facts on the actual graphic?
Ellie_Penguin
This sounds like an interesting part of the contest. By 'write some interesting facts' do you mean we place the facts on the actual graphic? Yep, just like you would for a school project. If I ask you to do an avatar then you would have to pick a word and an image that represents the theme properly.
Myriad
That sounds really good, even though I'm not much of a graphics person. :P I'll still have a shot, though.

Strategos
Are we allowed to add trivia even if the regular question hasn't been answered?
Ellie_Penguin
Of course you can. You don't have to answer them in order. You can answer the bonus first if you don't think you won't be able to answer the Question of the Day.
antiaircraft
My answer: Most detergents will be made up of a number of components, with each component performing a different job in the cleaning process. The main components that do the actual cleaning are called surfactants. They disintegrate and isolate lumps of grease, oil, and other materials that stick to surfaces. They do this because the molecules that make up surfactants consist of a hydrophobic tail (which is repelled by water) and a hydrophilic head (which is attracted to water). The molecules will naturally form 'bundles' around lumps of grease, with the hydrophobic tails dissolving in the grease and the hydrophilic heads forming a sphere around the grease. This means that the grease is surrounded and thus prevented from 'sticking' to other lumps of grease or other surfaces. Once the surface that is being cleaned is rinsed with water, the bundles, with the grease in the middle, are washed off easily. Edit: I pick
DOOM Bringer
BONUS: Well I had to research this one a bit. I read in one place that the author was unknown although it was believed to have been written by a man called Herman Contractus. The name Dufay also appeared several times. So it's either unknown, Herman Contractus or Dufay... Or I could be completely wrong altogether.
