Ian Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 There is an upcoming feature that will be released soon by Neopets called the Neopets Customization Mall. In the new Neopets Customization Mall, you will be able to pay real money (not Neopoints, but real money) for items in which you can dress you pet with. If you got accepted as a beta tester in the NC Mall, this is what it says: -------------------------------- Congratulations! You have been chosen to test the new Neopets NC Mall. The NC Mall is the place to go for expanding your customisation experience with exclusive premium wearable items, backgrounds, trinkets, and more. The NC Mall will open at 8am PST on Friday June 7, 2007. Visit the NC Mall to start shopping. Browse and preview various items and purchase what you like! Once you've completed checkout, all your new wearables will be placed in your inventory. Click on these items and select "Place in Closet" to make them useable in the customization application. Visit the customization application to begin using your new wearables on your Neopet. -------------------------------- A new link will appear on the Neopets nav bar soon too: More info will become available as we receive it! :) UPDATE: Here is a link to the full neomail you receive if you're a beta tester: click here. Xepha Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Seems like they found an other way to increase their fabulous bank account... They have premium, the phone thing with Lutari Island and now clothing items... and those are only pixels they sell, not to mention the real plushies and t-shirt etc...

Who remember when Neopets were promising to be free forever and never charge us money to play the game? Seems like to be a long long long time ago. :lol: Anyway, I won't buy clothes and I don't live in USA so it won't be available for me.

They're planning to make the site much more bigger. and of course, they need money for the server etc. (ian is that true, you have a server. the bigger site, the more you pay for the server/bandwith?) But they can't rely on sponsors and the ads. so they bring in more ways to get money to enlarge the site.

They've got to pay for it somehow. More ads, fine. But not make a distinct line between rich and poor. There's enough of that in the real world... <_<

They'll upgrade and purchase if they need, but it's a lot more than that; it's making money for the mothership - MTVN/Viacom - and expanding into other ventures. There's more to what you see, and it really isn't about buying more silly servers =P In my view, it's a great idea. I'm not gonna pay for it - and will it be avaliable to UK/Europeans? The beta test wasnt, and Lutari Island isn't - but some will, and it's a great money-making enterprise. People are going to do it. They just will. People who want to make their pets look good will want to purchase cool new exclusive items. ;o Do we know yet if the items purchased from the Mall can be used in user shops and trades for NP? Or, will be?

Wouldn't that be just like buying neopoints then, I do not think they will allow that. And as far as I know from my 'under-cover agent' you can't trade/sell them for neopoints, only for NC (neocash). But I will look into this further *dissappears into thin air and sneaks into TNT's servers*

Many online games (World of Warcraft, for example) have people being paid to play characters and get X amount of online currency in exchange for real life money. That's against the rules, so I would assume this would be too. I don't know. They could do something like Second Life. That would be nifty. :)

So, I doubt TNT will allow users to re-sell the items they buy with real money. That could actually end up in a lawsuit.
