Apparently that 'metal object' is in fact a nail gun. A nail gun randomly placed in the forests of a deserted island? How lucky!

What's a nail gun doing in a temple on a deserted island?!

 

I have all the things, but I can't find the ship!

Finished. Finally. That steering wheel took some finding. Done now (or, done what we know to do, anyway).

If this helps, one path above the ship only leads to a couple of screens and an infinite loop. The path above the ship has all the goodies in it.

You have to have completed the Temple puzzle to get it - it was the thing you pick up as you finish that part.
