It makes me sad the avatars I can't ever get that are retired, even sadder to know I was around but missed them! lol

 This. Also, as with anything in life, the fact that cheaters exist on Neo and can do better than rule-following hard working citizens. I've always liked Neo because unlike some others similar-ish games, spending boatloads of real money won't get you that much of an advantage in the game. But the black market (which I only recently found out existed, silly me) kind of negates that idea.

....there's a black market? Oh God, people take this site way too seriously... Like really, don't they have anything better to do than cheat on a virtual pet site? That is pretty sad.

I was around for the Faerie's Ruin plot, but didn't get to participate after the first little bit because I somehow got the blue screen of death - twice - around that time, and could only assume Neo was the cause (it was the only site I went to regularly at that time).  But, I'm glad I didn't miss it entirely, so I did get a trophy, though.
