BarrDan
With all of the changes I heard about (shop stocking, new avvies, etc) I decided to start playing again. It's been about 2 years since I was last on so a few things have changed I'm sure...trying to get caught back up. I'd love to get into the battledome to start earning some daily income and have some fun, so was hoping someone might be able to offer me a few suggestions on a decent BD set for up to 6mil. No species specific since I will be using the Lab Ray to train as well. Current pet stats: LVL - 80 HP - 337 ST - 119 DEF - 65 MOV - 56 INT - 55 Hoping for a set that will be good for all avatar challenges (so I can finish the few I don't have) as well as just daily 1P battledoming. Also, I have read the equipment guide on the site, and am currently looking throug hit...but there really isn't a recommended collection of items to form decent sets that I can see, so figured some specific advice might be helpful rather than just picking items at random off the guide :). Aquamentis12
So I take it that panchito3222 is your battle/lab ray pet level 80 with 237hp? I've got a couple questions I'd like to ask before I get to suggesting equipment. Which guide(s)/article(s) did you read in the battlepedia? Are you going to try to maintain your pet's defense, since the lab ray tends to lower that stat and raise Strength and HP. What equipment does your pet have right now? I wouldn't want to recommend something it already has or if it has something along the same level as what I'd recommend. ;) Also, which Faerie abilities do you have? And lastly, which opponent(s) are you looking to fight for 1p? I know it may seem unhelpful to ask so many questions, but in helping myself or others who would offer advice to you for your set, you help us better help you. ;) Here are some articles from the BP. Good for reference, or perhaps there's one I'm listing that perhaps you haven't read yet? 500k sets. (Equipment that is reliable and will cost you below 500,000np) http://battlepedia.thedailyneopets.com/index.php/articles/viewarticle/under-500k/ Basic Weapon Sets. (Sets for various levels of battling experience, pet stats and price ranges) http://battlepedia.thedailyneopets.com/index.php/articles/viewarticle/basic-weapon-sets/ Faerie Abilities. (Explains all new abilities to the best of our knowledge) http://battlepedia.thedailyneopets.com/index.php/articles/viewarticle/new-faerie-abilities/ Strength and Defense Boosts listing. (How many points until your next boost(multiplier)? Check here.) http://battlepedia.thedailyneopets.com/index.php/articles/viewarticle/battle-strength-defense-boosts/ Also, you may have already noticed, there is lag in the Battledome, and it's been saying, since the transfer to the new owner, that you didn't win anything. You actually still do, the message is just messed up. Of course once you reach 15 items, that's all she wrote until midnight NST. ;)
BarrDan
I actually don't have anything equiped at the moment, so anything you recommend at all will be an upgrade. I've got up to 6mil to spend, but if I can get a decent setup for below that I'm happy to spend less :). Correct, panchito is my battlepet, and was previously trained using the lab, but I'm thinking about stopping with the lab and starting to begin getting things evened out (gotta focus on level for a while). I haven't been in the battledome in about 2 years, so I'm pretty much a complete noob again. Faerie abilities - All of them up to lvl 50 are available. I would like to eventually be able to beat the Space Faerie (without throw pillows trick), other than that I haven't picked which 1P opponent I want to focus on yet. I have premium, so I'm assuming one of them in the premium area of the dome...whichever one is recommended to be most profitable. http://battlepedia.thedailyneopets.com/index.php/articles/index/I've read the first 4 on here, as well as looked through the ones you linked. My issue with the "weapon sets" guide is that it doesn't really include any sets...it's more of a categorization of tons of weapons grouped together. Was hoping more for a "set" of 8 items recommended to be used together. (Though I am going to be going through this link and researching each item to try and work on building my own set as well :)) I think that covers all your questions, I'm up to answering more if it'll help! :). Aquamentis12
Alright cool, thanks for the quick answers! Regarding the "Equipment Sets" those are more like, guidelines. Giving a taste of what is out there and what the prices are around. (We do update the average lowest prices of the equipment periodically.) Hence the spiffy arrows. ;) Space faerie will be tricky where your pet is currently at. That Throw Pillows technique, meh, not my style either. lol With 6 mil to spend for starting out, that's a good amount to have to play around with. It's a little tricky suggesting items when someone is starting fresh. lol Although, if you had closer to 8 mil, I probably would recommend Ghostkerbomb, as it's the top Bomb easily available. (Hidden Tower weapon). But you can save up for that later. ;) Let's see what I can suggest. If you are going to train your pet traditionally, i.e. stop using the Lab Ray on it. Then I'd suggest getting your defense stat built up a bit first-thing. I'm a balanced trainer. I like to keep my HP/STR/DEF really close when training. So I get the best balanced result for my equipment. You Strength is nearing it's next boost/multiplier (at 125) I'd try to even Strength and Defense out. With the stat as it is now, there are a couple fewer shields I would recommend. But there are other weapons around that. ;) Let's see. I hear a LOT about how Koi Warrior, is supposed to be great at giving out Codestones. And he looks fairly easy, I don't think I've battled him yet, at least not in the new BD. But his starting HP in the profile, even at the Strongest difficulty, is pretty weak. http://battlepedia.thedailyneopets.com/index.php/oneplayer/viewprofile/152/ Looks like the toughest he's got there is Koi Warrior Battle Fork and Koi Warrior Watergun. This is where I'd say for best average defense, get a Leaf Shield, the Green one from Illusen's Quest. But that one will only really do it's best if your strength and defense boosts are the same. A lot of people over the years have recommended Patched Magic Hat over the Leaf Shield, because it's a bit more reliable. But in this case, no water defense. Looking around, Parasol of Unfortunate Demise MIGHT help. It does block some earth and Water. Ideally, for Koi Warrior, Faerie Tabard (Hidden Tower) would be an ultimate shield against Koi Warrior, but it's outside of your 6 mil budget. ;) Flaming Bronze Helm might be a good choice too. Does block some decent water, and blocks all Physical icon types. Though it does seem to be a bit of a double-edged "sword", as it were Shiny Shoal Shell Shield. Would take a bit out of Water, Earth AND Physical, so maybe that one would be your preferred choice? Definitely get Downsize! It can be used once per battle and reduces all damage for that one turn by 50% Healers, at your level, a Greater Healing Scroll, or Rejuvenating Jar of Brains would work well. Although, Unis do have a 50% species healer. You might want to save for. ;) Lucky Uni Charm. Freezers, if you want one, Randomly Firing Freeze Ray is probably your best bet for now. There are better freezers, but I'm trying to save you np. ;) vH4000 Helmet is a non-species freezer, but would cost most of what your budget is, if not more. Actual Weapons... Finally, right? ;) Koi Warrior's MAIN defense is the Koi Warrior Helmet, which is like the Leaf Shield, only instead of earth, it blocks Fire. But still blocks a similar amount of water and physical damage. How about a Rusty Pitchfork? 11 icons, blocks 5 physical, and is about 300k on the Trading Post. I like "dual duties" like this one. I've never owned one, but it's definitely a good intermediate weapon by the looks of it's profile! Another weapon, this one just a straight attacker, Barbat Throwing Star Looks really decent! About 125k-150k and 11 icons. Bombs... Optional at this point. There are oodles of snowballs and muffins you can throw, but then they're gone. At your level, and since Ghostkerbomb is about 7-7.5mil. If you really want a bomb, I'd suggest the Honey Potion. It's a prize from Illusen's Quests, and is around 300k on the TP, as of the last time I looked. It's once per battle. The price is that low because there are a number of regular weapons that can do close to or the same kind of damage for much less than the Honey Potion used to cost. However you want to play it. ;) I hope this gives you some ideas and is helpful! Happy battling! :) BarrDan
