The Black Market Boon

Hello,

If I get the black market boon, will it be easier for me to get the chocolate avatar?

Does anyone have tried it?

 

I have tried many times to get the chocolate avatar with no success.

But the Sway have so great boons and I don't want to take the black market boon if I don't get the chocolate avatar.

It does help, but it is still hard to get it since it does not always restock often with items you would need to purchase.

It is still luck in a way.

Yes, but basically anything that's priced 5K+ will get you the Chocolate Avatar. In my opinion, it doesn't matter, but if you think it'll help, go for it. :)

I would personally opt for some other boon this time around.

 

First off, half price day is not this week, which means restocking will be slow and the chance of R90+ item showing up will be less.

Second, nobody is really sure how the Black Market boon even works. Apparently only some R85+ items are highlighted, not all.

I took that boon once and it was worthless. I searched ALL of the shops that I could think of and only saw one item (a petpet) that was a 90. On the boards I had a conversation with one guy who said that if you pick that boon, you MUST go to the shops at midnight right after the winner of the contest is announced. He said that the shops stock up on the 85+ items at that hour specifically and so you go and raid the shops that hour. For the rest of the week you will be very lucky to find more 85+ items. I had no idea about this and he kind of gave me a "well, duh!" attitude about it. Someone else chewed him out for it though. :)

My understanding of the boon is that there are certain items that became "black market goods" and are only available to those with the boon. They're items of a certain rarity, yes, but not all items of that rarity are black market boon items. These items restock randomly, but when the boon is not active, no one can see them -- this is why certain shops appear to not restock completely during non-BMB times. Once someone activates the boon at midnight, they can see all these items that have previously stocked. Throughout the week, they can also try to snag additional BMB items -- if they restock (since they're rare, they may not). Only some of the shops have BMB items. Off the top of my head, I've heard there may be some in chocolate and stamps, and I can confirm for certain there are some in Mystical Surroundings.
