Website displaying issues

'ello :) It was ages since I made a topic of my own, so I thought why not break the dry spell with a question for my tech savvy fellow TDN:ers :P

Today, my old computer crashed, giving me the perfect excuse to upgrade. I did so in buying an Asus G750J with Windows 8. All websites are displaying "properly", i.e. they "fill out" my screen just as they did on my old computer. All websites except Neopets (that I've noticed so far).

Any idea why or - better yet - what I could do to fix it, if it is possible to fix? I've tried zooming (didn't really think that would do the trick, but tried it anyway) but it didn't help. Yes, the page "filled out", but I had to zoom to 200% and then the website would be too big and I had to scroll sideways to be able to see all of it.

Yours gratefully,

Erika

Neopets has a fixed page width. It fills in with gray on either side. So I think that's just how it's going to be. If the gray bothers you, you could shrink the window to match Neopets' page width. Or you could just deal with the gray.

Weird that all other sites are fine and Neo is wonky. You could try clearing cache and stuff (though it's a new computer, so that shouldn't be the issue) and changing your site theme. Some site themes do weird stuff in different browsers and on different systems.

Didn't even think of the screen res thing xD I also have a 1366x768 and looking at Neo now, I notice the grey running on either side xD Just not used to seeing as much as you have, especially UNDER the site! Congrats for your nice new screen are apparently in order xD Bummer that Neo can't make the site more display-friendly for different systems :(

The site looks like that on your screen because you have a higher resolution than 1024x768, which is the resolution the site was designed for. My screen is 1366x768 and I get a grey background on the left and right sides as well.

If it really bothers you, you can lower your screen resolution; you don't have to change it to 1024x768, but you can lower it a bit to decrease the amount of grey area that is shown. I personally don't think it's worth it to do that just for Neopets, but that's just my preference.

Thanks for the answers, guys :) Hopefully it'll just take some getting used to. I appreciate the info, the res thing never crossed my mind :P
