husker
Good morning, Neopia! I'm Austin reporting to you live from the Yooyuball fields with some exciting results from yesterday's contests. We saw some terrific matchups, along with some interesting results. This Cup has been exciting so far, to say the least, as the most unlikely suspects have stepped up and become the leaders of their bracket. So far Altador and Tyrannia have excelled in the Cup, surprising many. Darigan Citadel has jumped on top of their bracket, continuing their hot pace from last year. All three teams are looking hot going into the third day of third day of the Cup. We'll see if they can keep it up in the next few days, as group play for the first group will come to an end shortly. Now we go to Matt in the newsroom for your daily results, before I get caught by the guards looking for me. "[mumbled] Where is he!? Lydia is going to kill all of us if we don't find him. Oh what? We're on? *Ahem* Thanks, Austin! Hello everyone, Matt here where I have the results from the Minitheus Bracket. Tyrannia and Terror Mountain went head to head today, and Tyrannia was able to take the early lead. Despite Terror Mountain's efforts to catch up, they just couldn't stand up to Tyrannia's strength, losing Yooyuball in a close match. The momentum from winning Yooyuball propelled Tyrannia's supporters to cheer even louder, and sling more slushies, causing them to cleanly sweep the Chillers in all games. Tyrannia seems to be off to a good start, but can they keep up this good energy? We'll see in the upcoming days. Over in another stadium, Krawk Island and Haunted Woods faced against each other. Haunted Woods put up a good game, but Krawk Island was able to take Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown. Haunted Woods was able to use those defeats to their advantage as motivation and was able to take Make Some Noise from the Pirates. Maraqua and Brightvale also went head to head today, and both sides played a tough match. Brightvale was able to take Yooyuball, and Make Some Noise, while Maraqua took Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown. Before leaving the stadium, a reporter was able to get in a few words with Elon Hughlis, Maraqua's team captain. Here's what he had to say about today's game: Elon! Elon! Mr. Hughlis! What do you have to say about today's game? Do you think you did well? How could your team have improved? Elon: I think we played a fine game today, and my team did great! We tried out best, Brightvale was just better. Now if you'll excuse me I need to go. I have a reservation at Kelp, and I can't be late. That's it for the Minitheus Bracket! Now let's head back to Austin, who has the remaining results for today's matchups. Austin? [mumbled] Find him now. I think he's in the locker rooms [incoherent mumbling] AFTER HIM! SEND IN THE HOUNDS!" Thank you, Matt. I'm back here in the locker rooms of the Colosseum with some more daily results, along with some interviews later in the segment. First we'll go to the Alabriss bracket for the match of the day, Meridell versus Kreludor. There was a lot of hype to back this game up, but we saw Meridell completely dominate, winning three of the four games, including Yooyuball. Though they kept control of the whole game, Kreludor kept it interesting, as they snuck in some late goals to make it a close game. Krelduor looked impressive on day one, but they looked very lethargic today. Because of the trend of past winners, the team could be in for a long year. On the other hand, Meridell rookie, Ethel Boortz, continued her hot pace by knocking in two goals, along with a pair of assists. Boortz excitedly exclaimed after the game, "I'm really happy that I'm off to a great start. This team has been great to me, and I'm glad I get to repay them in this fashion." Both of the other games in the bracket ended up in sweeps, as Darigan Citadel and Kiko Lake took home four wins each. Darigan Citadel won in more of an impressive fashion, as they held the Mummies to four points in each game. Darigan is poised to make a run for the Cup, as they are first in their bracket. Could this finally be the year we have a former champion win the Cup for a second time? Only time will tell, but we can mark the Minions as a serious competitor this year. The Kiko Lake versus Mystery Island matchup was very close to the end, as the games ended up being decided by just one point. The Kikos did take advantage though, by winning all the games. The Kikos took Yooyuball with one of the greatest matchups I have ever personally seen. Down five to one late in the game, the Kikos fought hard to time the game in the closing seconds. "Poke" Cellars then stole the ball right as Mystery Island got the ball back, drove, and scored the game winning goal. Kiko Lake has looked impressive so far in the Cup and could be a legitimate contender for the whole thing. We talked to Mystery Island Left Defender, Selmon Woulf, after the game about Mystery Island's slow start. "Yeah, brah, we aren't doin' too hot so far, but all we gotta do is sit back an' chill tonight. Hopefully we could get it goin' and get a streak goin'. That would be like... totally gnarly, dude." Though Mystery Island has started slow, there is some optimism for the Natives, as all of their games so far have been decided by two points or fewer. We'll see if they have the resilience to fight back and win their bracket. The top 6 from last year have been exciting to watch so far, and expect them to be until the last day of the Cup. Look for a few teams out of the Alabriss bracket to compete until the end. Next we go to the Vaelous bracket, where there were also two sweeps, along with a close match. First we start with the surprise of the Cup, Altador. The Suns have come out firing on all cylinders, as they have completely blown away the competition in both matches so far this year, most recently against Shenkuu. The hometown team has put up the biggest numbers in the Cup so far and looks to be poised to potentially win the Cup for the first time. Team captain "Trapper" Remis was caught after the game saying, "We're really glad that we're finally playing up to expectations. The fans have been great to us, and we plan to reward them. Go Altador!" Next, we go to Roo Island and Faerieland. Roo Island is looking to make a comeback into the top tier after last year's subpar results. The Rooligans are off to a great start, as they have completed their second straight sweep. After they scored the first goal of the game, the Rooligans never looked back, putting up six unanswered, until the Faeries score three late goals. Roo Island has dominated so far this year, and this could be a very interesting bracket if Roo Island and Altador continue to stay hot. Last but not least, we have the most highly contested match of the Cup. The Yooyuball game was won in the final moments, as Virtupets was able to break the tie with the seconds ticking away, and ended up winning five to four. The Robots rebounded well after yesterday's crushing sweep. After Moltara's second sweep of the season, we heard captain Aldric Beign saying, "We've had a lot of problems on the field so far. I think we know the problem: our team chemistry isn't what it should be yet. We're going out for slushies and team bonding tonight, so hopefully we can sort through it and come out tomorrow and win." Next we go to our matches to watch: Kiko Lake will look to take back the lead in a very tough bracket, as they face the current leaders, Darigan Citadel. Both teams have started hot, and this could be the game that decides the bracket. We'll see what team wants it more today. Altador will try to continue their winning ways when they take on the Robots. Altador showed no signs of slowing down yesterday, as they put up huge numbers against Shenkuu once again. On the other hand, the former champs snagged their first win of the year yesterday against Moltara. This should be a fun game to watch since both teams are determined to take home the bracket of last year's bottom six. We'll see the Moons and the Knights at it again today, coming just one day after they played each other. While Meridell prevailed in the first matchup, last year's champs will be looking for some revenge. Kreludor looked good in their first game this Cup, but not yesterday. We'll see if they can change things up and defeat the Knights today. (shouting in the background) GET THE HOUNDS! CHASE HIM! I SEE HIM! GO! Uhhhh... That does NOT sound good. Matt, I'm going to send it back to you in the studio. I have to get out of here. (more shouting in the background) We've got you now! Get him, hounds! Keep it classy, Neopia. "Thanks, Austin! And good luck out there. Well I guess this is it for today. This is Matt signing out! See you tomorrow!" No hounds were harmed during the making of this report. ~Ğǿǿmy~
...Why must Meridell play Kreludor yet again? Another reasons why this bracket system is total crap.
