How does one get a warning point?

Basically your warning level will increase if you break our forum rules. When a rule is broken a moderator will edit your post, usually in red text. The more rules broken the higher your warning level becomes. I'm not sure if you can actually see your warning level on your profile, or if it's just for our moderators.

If you haven't already I suggest reading through this forum section. There is a lot of great information there including the rules. :)

One of our moderators might be able to explain this better and include anything I may have left out.

Welcome to TDN! :)

Just to clarify a bit, mods will edit your post when there's a rule broken, with the red text. Warning increases, that show as warning points, are generally pretty rare.

After a number of rule breaks, we send the member a verbal warning to their PM Inbox as a kind of Heads Up type thing, so they're made aware of the rule breaks that have been happening and can avoid them in the future.

We generally only increase a warn level for rule breaks after continuous rule breaking, after verbal warnings are sent out.
