Set advice for war

With the war starting in a week its time to consider what to do with my gear.

Stats:

HP: 587

Attack: 202

Defense: 29

Agility: 64

Intelligence: 128

Weapons:

Sword of Ari

WereLupe Claw Necklace

Hanso Charisma Charm

H4000 Helmet

Downsize!

Velm's Healing Potion

Winged Scarab

Parasol of Unfortunate Demise

As my archaic looking set might suggest, I don't really play much, so income is nearly nonexistent; meaning any decisions to spend those precious neopoints are quite carefully considered. I picked up the sword with the discount just a bit earlier, so am reluctant to spend more. :P

The most obvious hole here I would imagine is the lack of a good healer, but those all appear to be inflated or out of my price range.

By a strange twist of fate the lab turned my pet into a lupe last week, so I have a unique opportunity here: I can sell my H4000 Helmet and pick up say a Ghostkerbomb, then just use Ancient Lupe Wands for the duration of the war.

Thoughts? Ancient Lupe Wands are cheap, but still a bit inflated at the moment....I have no idea how wars actually play out, so would using wands for a potentially extended period of time be a bad idea?

If I were you, I'd stick with the H4K helmet, since the lupe wands are a bit of a risk. I can't see any obvious cheap improvements to your set otherwise, since all the usual niche weapons have shot up in price, so I'd suggest just making sure you get one of the free abilities (level 1 abilities), since they can sometimes be the difference between winning and losing.

Also, if you keep your H4K, you can continue zapping during the plot to up your pet's HP even more.

You've got a good set. Velms Healing Potion is great for lab rat pets, like yours and mine. Velms heals you more than Greater Healing Scroll would (by 8 points, but it's still more)! However, because of where your HP are, you would get more healing from Short Sleeved Yellow Tunic or Crisp Blue Tunic, but unfortunately you don't meet the intelligence requirements. A 50% healer like Bag of Healing Dust would be a great option, but it's pretty expensive. So, you might just have to plan to get through this war on the healer you have. That's what I'm planning to do!

Ancient Lupe Wand is a good option, as is Ghostkerbomb. I used to use ALW and it is excellent to have a 100% freezer that is actually inexpensive! However, it is fragile, so if you're going to go with that option, make sure you buy a few of them. When I was using it, it seemed my ALW broke less often than a Scroll of Freezing did, but that could be because I was less disappointed when it broke because it was about a fifth of the cost to replace. If you're planning to keep labbing your pet, though, I would keep the H4k Helmet. If your species changes, you're going to want it back!

You're right, though, that your set is missing a good bomb. Your constants all do more damage than a 15-icon muffin, so your best bomb option is Ghostkerbomb.

If you're looking to sell to get the NP, I would sell your Winged Scarab. (I'm not very familiar with it, so I'm basing my recommendation off what the Battlepedia says. If our information is wrong or misleading, please let us know.) When you use it, it does damage to you, which to avoid you have to block with another defensive weapon. Using two defensive weapons on one turn for you is really a waste because your defense boost is so low. If I were you, I would sell that and use the NP to buy something better. It won't get you GBomb, but it will get you started!

Definitely go for a change in constants - sell your Werelupe Claw Necklace and get a Skarls Hasty Mace. Although it is less consistent than the Necklace. It has more favorable icon types and is less spread out. It can also pack a powerful punch.

Sell your Sword of Ari and get a Sword of Reif/Sword of Tawre/Sword of Thigl/Sword of Skardsen. Or if you don't like the heavy presence of those physical icons that Tawre gives, go for the much cheaper Kelpbeards Trident. You'll save around 4 mil, if you pick the Mace and the Trident together. As for what you'l do with that, it would be up to you. You can buy an Altadorian Swordbreaker which is a full physical blocker and sell your Winged Scarab :D

The Scarab and the Makeshift Ship's hammer used to be my primary combo before the Wraith War . Together they do 5 air, 3 earth, 3 phy and block 3 air and ALL phy. In the day, this was a nice combo, but you are beyond needing this, also withOUT something like the MSS Hammer to absorb the recoil it will do more damage than it protects.

Alt Swordbreaker is cheap, and does five earth damage with no recoil. Air defense is nice, but you've outgrown this weapon.

Ahem, my second tier pet still wields mine, rather than spend a little money on healing potions I switch to my second string pet. It is a irksome, as you have to unselect and then reselect your weapons so they will be in the right order.

Perhaps an elephante morphing potion and elephante unguent, though you would have to stop zapping for the war. I purchased each for about $200 k in December. Not sure what they are going for now. The other option is to use jade elixirs. The lucky robots foot is also 100% one time healer but has risen to 24K. Jade elixirs are around 8k.

Assuming you want to get a large amount of battling in, I wouldn't recommend the one use items, although fragile things like ancient lupe wand can be quite useful.

Winged scarab sells for less than the swordbreaker now, but if you can afford it, swordbreaker and gbomb for ancient lupe wands and gbomb seem to be the best suggestions given.

My last post was based on the assumption that you didn't have any NP to spend, meaning only the H4K for wands/gbomb would have been possible from these suggestions, but you'd only need ~100k extra to buy a swordbreaker after selling the scarab.

I have some jade elixirs that have not sold in the last 24 hours at 8250np, which is what I have been selling them for the last couple of weeks. Since anyone at level 250 can buy one every 30 minutes for 7500(something), they are likely to be in decent supply.

Strange, I just got a lucky robot foot yesterday on a braintree quest (I think I spent less than 100np). A very good quest.

I did notice that there was another fairly cheap weapon that blocked physical, but for the life of me I can't remember which one it was. The old site that I used to be educated at had a function where you could search for a weapon based upon attack and defense icons. I miss that.

I need to sell my spare swordbreaker.

Thanks for all the input, looks like I'll be sticking with the H4000 Helmet.

I'll look into snagging an Altadorian Swordbreaker to replace the Winged Scarab.

Also, on the WereLupe Claw Necklace and Winged Scarab, the problem with them is that they're outdated and everybody knows it, so they're pretty difficult to unload for a decent price. The Claw especially is a harshly outclassed relic of the past, so really only a collector would be interested, but thats okay cause thats part of why I bought it in the first place. :)

Jade Elixirs are a good idea for the toughest matches, where it will make a big difference.

As for the Ghostkerbomb, I can still outright afford it if I decide to go for it, and will definitely be highest in consideration if I desperately need that bit more of a punch.

Sell your Sword of Ari and get a Sword of Reif/Sword of Tawre/Sword of Thigl/Sword of Skardsen.

What would be the point of this, exactly?
