Total noob, please help?

Recommended Posts

So I am finally giving in to the battledome. I have been playing neopets on and off for 10+ years now and have always avoided battle for some reason... not sure why. But now with the talk of this new plot, I am giving it a shot. I read the guides on battlepedia and what not. So I get the gist but I just need help with specific things.

1) When training what should I train for first? And what should I mainly focus on? Movement isn't a big deal right?

Here are my Mynci's stats:

Hit Points: 12 / 12

Strength: GREAT (27)

Defence: godly

Movement: mach 2

2) I have ~1 million to invest in a set. What is the best bang for my buck? Right now I have my Mynci equipped with a Scarab Ring, Gilded War Hammer, Leaf Shield, Slippery Floor Potion, Snowglobe Staff, Lesser Healing Scroll, and a Downsize! I am hoping with my budget that I won't have to get a whole new set and at least one of those things are worth keeping.

3) When battling, what things should I pick right away to use? I tried finding something in the guides that would explain this battle stuff as if I were 5 years old but to no luck. I am seriously completely ignorant to all things involving the battledome so even though I have read stuff, it doesn't mean I fully understand it. So any further advice would be fantastic!

Thanks in advance!

Before upgrading my set I had a scarab ring, gilded war hammer and thats about it. :P

I am borrowing a rusty pitchfork (good rating from the battlepedia and better than a honeypotion)

downsize!

I'd also consider getting a golden compass instead of a scarab ring.

and some sort of healer. I'm borrowing a green scorchstone as my healer, although they are quite pricey you'd probably consider something like a greater healing scroll. This all depends on your pets level though, which you didn't mention? If your pets level is high you won't have much time to train HP's which means you'll need a really good defense weapon.

Here's my thread in case you find it helpful in anyway: http://www.tdnforums...-set-questions/

I suggest you train first to the 55 boost before making any set changes.

Goal Stats:

Lvl: 28

Str: 55

Def: 55

HP: 84

Use Swashbuckling Academy first to save money.

Your set after 55 boost:

Scroll of Knowledge x2

Downsize!

Randomly Firing Freezing Ray

Greater Healing Scroll

Leaf Shield

Sophies Magic Hat/ Patched Magic Hat

Random 15 icon muffin

Reading battledome guides confused me too so I worked from trial and error. I'm definitely not a pro (I've fought mostly for avatars) but I love my set and it's served me well:

Essence of esophagor

Scarab ring

Snowager sword

Obsidian dagger

Enchanted cobweb

Greater healing scroll

Downsize

Oversized Maractite Rune Sword

Hope maybe it gives you some good, affordable ideas. I think oversized maracite sword and snowager sword are a little redundant and at least one could be replaced, but the rest works for me.

You've got a great set for a beginner. I started out with dual Scarab Rings. :) I love the Scarab Ring because of its dual duty, so you don't need to use an attack weapon and a shield, but you can just use the dual duty.

You should definitely focus on training, but which stat to train is up to you. Obviously, only train movement if you're interested in someday having the weapons that require movement. The only one worth mentioning is the Heavy Robe of Thievery, which requires 201 movement points. I personally would start with HP, because without HP, it's all over. However, my strategy is more of a get-as-many-HP-as-you-can-so-you-don't-have-to-worry-about-defense strategy. Getting to the next boosts on your strength and defense would also be helpful. I suggest you follow the Fast Training Guide on the BP to get the most bang for your buck in training.

For a turn-by-turn strategy, that depends on a lot, like what type of battler you are or want to be. For reference, my general strategy is to use my freezer on the first turn with a shield, an attack, or a stealer, depending on the challenger's strength and weapons as well as my HP. Then, I attack with my strongest constant and a bomb or my two strongest constants. After that, I usually use my strong constant and a shield until I've finished off the challenger.

Our 1-P guides offer some turn-by-turn strategies for those specific opponents. I suggest trying those out to get a feel for the Battledome, and after that you can start developing your own strategy.

Thank you everyone for your input. You have helped more than you know =) And Xandria, my mynci is Level 19, if that helps put things in perspective. Right now, it seems I am just gonna train constantly. Hopefully all the training I need to do won't put a dent on my Set budget. Off to the Academy I go :)

And oh I forgot to ask another question! Since my mynci only has 12 hit points and rather low stats is it best she stay out of the battledome all together until she has trained for awhile?

No, no no. If you have a decent weapon set there would be no need to stay out of the BD all together. Your HP's are rather low so it'll take some time to get them where they need to be. I got lucky and was able to adopt my meerca with 54 HP already, but only like a level 5. So right now I'm training my level to up my stats! It's definitley time consuming but hang in there!
