Well it looks like there wasn't a board for it so I made one!

 

The Purge is something that happens (I'm not sure if there's a specific time) when Neopets purges very old accounts, including very WN pets, which is why this is a big event.

Is anyone else looking for any accounts to purged for certain named pets? There's a Game of Thrones name that I'm waiting on. :P

Hm! I've seen people discussing the purge here but I never realize that people actually tracked it.

 

How do those boards work? Are they just lists of accounts that could potentially be purged, or will be purged for sure in x amount of time? I haven't been stalking any accounts for names I'd like, but maybe I should! :O

I didn't realize people tracked the purge, either. There's a couple names I've been trying to track myself, but I don't know the best way to go about getting them when/if they get purged. -_-

They are names of the accounts that are close (alphabetically) to being purged. I don't think it's known for sure whether or not they're purged.

 

I wasn't going to at first but there are some names on my list that I really really want (including my friend's name) and one of them is in the D- usernames but they're on dark- and my username is dra-.

i'm not stalking petnames except i'm stalking an account name ;) want to make a new side account, and maybe make it my main if i can snag it.

 

also i hope my old account isn't purged, still trying to work on getting it returned to me :( stupid side account with pretty pets D: i want you back!!

How are you trying to get it returned? I'm in a similar predicament, I can no longer access one of my oldest accounts and I'd really like it back (mainly because of the account age). I tried submitted a ticket, with an inadequate response. So if you're trying something else, and may be successful about, could you please share?

How do they decide which accounts have been inactive long enough? I think everyone has that old account they'd like to get back into and just can't. Especially since security added the birthday! I just made up a birthday when I first joined :shiftyeyes_anim:

TNT say i can't remember enough information, or won't tell me what i DID get right. its been 5 years since i've logged into it so *shrug* i don't remember too much. just that it has the labray and other things.

 

sadly all things i also put on my profile, so its not as if its not easily accessible info. also it was when you could change your b'day, so i changed it to something random after getting told off my parents for putting real info on the Interwebs.. *sigh*

 

i have it neofriended on my main to make it easier to send things. so now i'm b'day stalking. which is why i'm hoping it won't be purged :(

Is there a certain amount of time that the purges normally last? I'm trying to estimate when the account I've been stalking may be purged. :shiftyeyes_anim:

from what i understand its done in alphabetical order but sometimes a letter or a series of names can be overlooked by one of the computers thats purging *but another computer will pick it up soon enough*

 

the markers people are posting are ones which people have looked up and are likely to purge, and have been confirmed as purged by the poster *which is why people are posting UN links for people to check*

 

so if the marker thread isn't up to the username that you are watching, it may be that account is not set to purge in the current purge. if you have questions about if a name has been skipped it would be best to ask the people in the discussion (not the marker) thread.

 

for example i was watching the account Elbert, but i believe the purge passed F while i was sleeping, and the account is still there, so its not due to purge this year. there is no time you could really put on how long its going to take to reach the account you are watching, so just keep checking the Other Worlds board for the latest Marker Board!

Ah, makes sense. That's my biggest fear; missing it because I'm asleep. But mine has a while to go, so I'm trying to not get too worried about it. Thanks for your help! ^_^

There are three bots; snail, pig and cheetah, and they purge at various speeds. It's always worth quickly checking back on your names to see if another bot has picked them up, but they don't always.

 

The ones that are left /could/ still be purged. Last time they went through the Usernames twice, and I have a feeling they will this time as well due to the volume of inactive accounts that they've missed out. Don't give up just yet! :)

I've seen some really nice names but I'm sure the competition would be so much chances are I'd never get the pet names I wanted ;3; or even just nice ones I guess.

I'm looking for a couple now and bookmarking them :T

 

All my usernames/petnames are pretty lame. and I already have 5 accounts ;-; (though I have room for more pets...)

Aye I`ve been on it for the purge. I had a list of about 300 when I started; and naturally most of them haven`t purged or people have beaten me to it - though the ones I`m most after there isn`t much competition for.

Nabbed Khrushchev the other day.

Other pets I managed to get ---

Bogey / Grieve / Moping / Methane / Zampano (book character) / Seleucus (personal)

See -- the last two and Khrushchev NO COMPETITION. And they`re the ones I love the most.

When I first met my fiance (on Tumblr about three years back), he went under the psuedonm "Seleucus" after the Greek officer. Zampano is one of the characters from my favourite books ever - House of Leaves.

And I am crazy for Khrushchev.

Fun times.

All the other names I`ve got I`ll probably gift out or try to trade.
