Raichi
So TNT has been purging inactive and frozen accounts, though is it me does it seem like they're eager on purging inactive accounts and don't give 2 cents for frozen accounts? Do you think they're not very serious about purging frozen accounts? What's your experience with your own accounts that got or are yet to be purged? yeah basically just a chat topic on purging! ^^ For me, I'm just disappointed that it's been 5+ years and my frozen accounts droopser and fujisensei still haven't been purged yet. I've tried sending in tickets previous years, but all I got was "sorry we don't purge on request, you have to wait like everyone else even though in the time we read and answer your message we could have long purged the accounts"
Rebecca~
I feel like they want to leave frozen accounts alone, just in case. If an account hasn't been accessed in 10 years, you can assume it's not going to be. And if an account has been frozen for years as well, it probably will remain so. But it can take TNT months, or up to a year to do investigations into unfreezing accounts. If there is a ticket open about a specific account, no matter how old it is, it shouldn't be purged. Why are you upset that those two accounts haven't been purged? Do you want to recreate the accounts?
Raichi
I want to recreate my pet Fiwawou *pokes avatar* I love him to bits, on droopser he was fiwawuo (first one) when that one got frozen I wa sso devistated I quit neo. But I missed my boy too much, so I joined neo again and recreated fiwawou (switched the uo to ou) it's really a miracle that I joined neo again after the account got frozen, I did quit for over a year. I just want my darling aisha back. And switching name again like Fiwa or Fiwawoo just won't cut it for me, I'm just too attached to my darling imaginary character. anyways, fujisensei was frozen in 2008, and droopser years sooner, probably 2005 or something. I'm just sad that perhaps I won't be able to have my boy back even in 10 years from now :/

Raichi
Thanks, but with this purging system I don't have much faith in it >.>;
Welcome Back Apathy
My first account was frozen for cheating on a flash game. (You probably guessed, I didn't. It's just that my score ended in 99, so they thought it was suspicious and froze it.) That was nine years ago, I think. I'm glad they purged it, but I can understand why they would not purge on request. I feel like five years should be the purging time. ...When I first saw this topic show up in the new topics, I have to say...I was thinking something else entirely. Naamah D.
There is actually some "name stalking" I've been doing on a certain account with a Neopets named Succube. I love Succubi and would love that to be a name of one of my pets. I'd be willing to pound Sugar Cookie for a pet with that name. So in short, I hope this account gets purged soon. Dynohawk
Do they give a warning when they're purging accounts? And I'm assuming the neopets go with it It's unfair so many good names are going to waste.

I don't understand either why they don't purge on request if you - the user - can prove that it is in fact your account. Is it really that much work to it? I really hope you don't have to wait ten years, Tinny!
Haliaetus
I also thought it was about something different, ha. But I agree. I like purging only for the fact that it frees up good usernames and pet names for active members to use. I also am name stalking a couple of accounts. Glad to know that I'm not alone in doing that. :P
skylee
i never even realized that neopets purged old accounts. it makes sense though, i guess i just never thought about it. i think its a good thing, since it frees up names.
Raichi
One of my guild members forgot to log in for a little over a year on one of her very old sides, and now it's purged. I just think it's a shame inactive accounts get this royalty treatment compared to frozen accounts. Shouldn't frozen accounts be the FIRST on the purge list? I mean, people who've forgotten their passwords or forget to log in now suffer the wrath of losing their precious accounts, while people like me who are dying to create their old pets again have to wait for eternity. It's just not a fair system...
UND3AD
I don't like their system either...just doesn't seem logical.
Spritzie
I honestly believe though there's some quirks in their purging system, over-all, I think it's handled pretty well. I believe TNT has a time frame when they start purging accounts. And when an account is up for being purged, they send out an email stating that you should log in to stop your account from being purged. That way, the owner has warning and can log in if they want to keep their account. If the password has been forgotten, then that's another issue, something that it would be nice if there was a fix for. Maybe something like clicking a link in the email, and entering some sort of information, in order to place that account on a safe list for a certain amount of time, while the owner works on getting access again. They've also stated in an Editorial, that accounts that are pretty much unused, are generally the ones deleted during a purge and that if a good amount of effort has been put into an account, it's unlikely to be purged. This is another of their safe-guards for people who actually use their accounts, not being removed. I know if I hadn't done a lot to my account, mine would have likely been purged during one of my breaks, because one was quite long and I didn't access the email attached to my account anymore. And lastly, I understand why they don't purge on request. They'd have to go through the same process verifying that the person requesting, is the owner of the account, just like they do with frozen accounts. And considering how long it sometimes takes to get an account unfrozen, though the includes investigating the issue, it could potentially take quite a bit of time to get to verifying ownership. Then consider that employees' time would have to be shifted to verifying ownership of accounts before purging, and that would be taking their time from other projects, possibly even time they'd normally spend working on returning frozen accounts. morgennaraene
IT took them YEARS to purge my Aethne account, I wanted that name back so bad; the Ixi I had with that account and name did get adopted, so she's still kicking around.. I've kept checking over the years (about 10 actually), and the account finally stopped showing up and I was able to snag the name back for my side account, so happy :)
Mr_Lanky
I thought they would have purged my account as I was inactive for about 8 years. Glad they didn't.
Rebecca~
I thought they would have purged my account as I was inactive for about 8 years. Glad they didn't. Apparently they only purge accounts that weren't built up. I assume that you didn't get all your trophies since you've been back, and that your Skeith had been trained before then as well. If it looks like the account was actually used, they leave it be.
