Leaving Habi running?

For one, they can't prove you aren't actively on the computer.

That is exactly what I was thinking. How would they enforce this? Would they put in a time limit for the length you can leave the window open? Perhaps a 12:40 reset such as they do for other games? Or maybe set a NP cap, like no gems will generate after you have collected 3k worth? (That value is extremely low, but you get the idea ;))

I have never actually left my habi running all night...too concerned about wasting energy *lol* I have left it open for a few hours in a row, checked it, let it run, checked it...I can't see anything wrong with this. I know that TNT has always been concerned about earning NP without putting in any effort, but isn't clicking to collect the gems the same idea as clicking to collect your daily interest in the bank?

There is a different way to control this. They could limit the amount of gems that you can get before you collect them.

Actually, I don't think the game really needs any limits put on it. It already does it on its own. Just look at the math.

At level 50, you get 46 P3s. For the sake of argument, we'll calculate the experience for all workers as they yield the most experience. And theoretically don't need any rest or food so we can calculate the maximum possible neopoints you can get in a day.

Fully upgraded, workers get 300 exp per hour. Multiply that by 46 and you get 13,800 per hour. Multiply 13,800 by 24 to get the total for the day: 331,200. Then, take the total exp and divide by the amount of exp needed to get one gem (1000) and you get 331.2, the total number of gems it's possible to get in one day. Multiply that by 500 and you get 165,500 neopoints.

Obviously my scenario is unrealistic, but I think it gets my point across. :P

For anyone curious, the (I think) standard setup of 40 workers, 3 nesters and 3 soldiers yields a max of 151,000. If you discard all three eggs 24 times a day.

The way I see it is that the 'cheating' problem isn't about leaving Habi unattended -- its a matter of exploiting the game. There's not much harm in running the Habi full force for a few hours and snapping up gems as they fall, or in letting gems collect slowly over a much longer period as you do other things. When people try to do both, well, that's exploitation.

To me, loading up on workers, fencing them next to resources and walking away for 12 hours is wrong. You fenced them in to cut the time it takes for them to re-position themselves, a move that increases the speed with which you earn gems. No problem, as long as you come back to check on it. Who cares if you're picking your nose next to the computer or taking a nap in the meantime?

On the other hand, 12 hours is enough time for my Habi (6 nesters, 8 soldiers, 32 workers, usually, and not pinned next to a resource) to fill almost completely. People who use gem acceleration techniques without monitoring Habi are trying to take short-cuts and plenty of them get punished for it already (Gem Lockout, though who knows if that was intentional).

As far as I know the ominous wording has only been for people who got locked out and then distracted the TNT from solving actual work tickets. I think its more politely menacing than telling people that they just won't get unlocked the next time they trigger the Gem Lockout.
