Sweet_Jasmine
Will I get my account frozen because of saying Grapefruit? It keeps popping up: ERROR : Do not send messages containing profanity, sexual terms, or other inappropriate content (including religion, politics, cheats, hacks, and password scams) on Neopets! Do not use your browser's "back" button. Please use the "back" button below. So I tried grape and it still won't let it throught. I heard that a lot of people get frozen even if they didn't say anything wrong. I though it was kinda funny. Has anyone got this error for no reason? Anime
If it's blocking it straight out, then I doubt you're going to get in trouble. And it's blocking it because Neo's filters are stupidly sensitive. The filter's blocking the word "rape" but it's so senstitive that it doesn't notice the "g" in front of it. Mouseykins
This error happens a lot to me and there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of my neomails. I would suggest trying a little later to reply. Sometimes the filters will block everything you type for some reason. A couple of times I couldn't even send the word 'hi'. that's all I put in the message and it still wouldn't send. Eventually it will let you send it, just be patient and try not to get too annoyed (I know its hard :D) In response to what anime said maybe try putting gapefruit? leave out the r? It might work. sftangliz
Yeah, I've gotten that one because of my Grape Chia, lol. Super-silly-senstive filters.
Jessicar
I know, I get these messages all the time. I was trying to explain to someone why I could not go ahead with a trade and said "unforeseeable circumstances." Circumstances is a dirty word! youngrace
just got one a few days ago because i said "analyze," LOL. i didn't even realize the word was in there until i looked. tnt is making me see dirty words in everything now!
nURLo
I can never figure out why my neomails get blocked, but I see now... Even if the word has the "no-no word" inside of it they will block it... This is an ah-ha moment for me... I'm so glad the rest of the world isn't censored by TNT it would be 1984... "Big TNT is watching..." MysteriousUser
I think the filters are useless and ineffective. I could easily space the word (l i k e t h i s) and it could pass. I haven't tried it with profanity (why would I?), but words like 'circumstance' and 'skill' I can space them and they go undetected.
keiwo
some time ago i got frozen for constantly trying to bypass the filter on a guild board in a similar circumstance so i personally wouldn't try to keep sending it. tnt may have loosened up since then though
Sakabato
Surely, my gallery's name would have to be changed because of this, lol. These filters are overly sensitive than anything.
passiflora
I've heard of people having to spend a ridiculous amount of time combing through their mails to see what could have possibly upset the filter LOL. I've been lucky so far, personally!
lilshadowdweller
It's happened to me a few times and sometimes I never end up figuring out what caused it. It's very annoying how restrictive it is. That's why I prefer speaking with people over here, where's nice and safe and filter free. But no, you don't get into trouble. I think it just blocks you from saying the word, I don't think it actually goes to say, a moderator or anything, otherwise I would be in trouble for all of the times I used some sort of word which it didn't like. behemothrules
just got one a few days ago because i said "analyze," LOL. i didn't even realize the word was in there until i looked. tnt is making me see dirty words in everything now! Bahahaha! ^_^ One time the filters got mad at me because I said, "I am thoroughly impressed" . -_- and then again for changing it to "I am extremely impressed". Eventually it settled for "i am impressed" :laughingsmiley:
Lovey
I think I was telling one of my friends "I lurve you" Lurve is blocked too
Nataluna
the amount of time i've spent staring at a neomail trying to figure out what it hates about it... :sad01_anim: i've figured out a few of the words it hates, but sometimes i just ditch the message, re-write it and sometimes it goes through. its very irritating stuff you can post on the boards, it won't let you neomail. side note: it also doesn't like the word postit unless you spell it post-it -_-
Saxen
I've figured out a couple of things that irritate the filters, one of which is "expression" weirdly enough :S So annoying when you cant figure out what's tripping it xD
laurageezy
I wasn't able to send a neomail with "peanuts" or "furballs" - so don't worry, it happens!
autumnem
I had the same problem when I was telling someone about the movie Gilbert Grape. I intelligently wrote it as "G.ilbert G.rape",but obviously it didn't help.
SuperAttackPea
they are probably too lame to hire experienced programmers so they decided to hire newbies to write the filters. And of course, simply diasallowing any message containing a certain list of words is much easier (for a programmer) than checking if those expressions are part of another word. GA_Bulldogs4life
The filters are like a game. The time I have spent staring at a neomail trying to figure out exactly what is not appropriate about it is ridiculous. Then when I finally did figure it out the time it took to think of different words and ways to form the same sentence in order to get it threw the filters is like it's own little puzzle. The worst time I have had with the filters so far is when I was trying to buy a "Bag of Peanuts" for the avatar!
YukiHitsugaya
I wish they would tell you what word you were using that set off the filter so you could fix it. I once spent a while typing up a NeoBoard post for the FON and clockwork negg puzzle, and it said I was speaking in gibberish. But the filter didn't tell me where the problem was so I had to go and rewirte the whole post.
simpler
Ahh these filters. I don't remember them blocking out this much though? "ball, nut, suck"
lovedwallflower
this thread is hilarious :D i remember once reading on another forum that TNT used to just change certain words for others. cant remember many, but one was bikini to cardigan (: TNT and my grandma would get along like a house on fire :P
