antiaircraft Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Wait... they filter out Dinosaur Comics? o_O It's not *that* addictive. Well then, lemme try a quick bypass trick: Quote
livvy Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 They filter out everything. <_< Except, oddly enough, TDN. Sometimes. For which I'm grateful. Haha, that's great. :laughingsmiley: Dinosaur comics are so amusing. Quote
jesse_rocket Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I adore Dinosaur Comics. :D I considered getting my husband the book for christmas, but then I saw there was an XKCD book and was like "!!!!!!" Quote
livvy Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 XKCD!! Best webcomic EVER. :D I love XKCD. *now craves, but it on the stupid school network* Quote
antiaircraft Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Oh yes, xkcd! :D I'm so much of a geek that I will assert that the correct spelling of xkcd is in lowercase. :P I hope I'll be able to get xkcd Book 0 sometime. Quote
livvy Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 You're right, actually. I do apologize. *hangs head in shame* Quote
jesse_rocket Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I echo Livvy's shame. I should know better. :* Quote
antiaircraft Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 xD xD It's weird because I'm normally so bad with names. I guess I'm just too used to working with Linux filesystems, where file/directory names are case sensitive. Quote
Spritzie Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Haha, no Spritzie, that play has been done with for a while. It went well. ^_^ This one is about a blossoming romance between two children in a school for the mentally unwell - one is OCD and obsessed with clocks and can't be touched, the other has split-personality disorder and adolescent schizophrenia. When performed right (which I don't mind admitting, we really aren't right now) it's quite touching. I have a really good role in it too. I think I have 5th most lines? And it's a decently large cast, so that's saying something. I forgot about that! I remember you telling me about that forever ago. Are you looking forward to it? But yeah, Band is basically the runaway shelter for us geeks -runsaway- *giggle* :D I am offended! Okay. I'm not. I have to agree with that statement. Do you have sports teams of any kind? Sports events are where bands are most often used. (Aside from competitions and occasional concerts.) That's actually why I quit band in HS. Every band memeber, even those in the Jazz Band, had to march and be at every.single.football.game. I refused. I hate football. Speaking of bands and stuff, what does everybody play as an instrument? I play flute, piccolo, and tenor sax, mainly. I've dabbled in a couple of the other saxophones. Incidentally, it looks like you and Spritzie came online at almost exactly the same time... xD And what's so awesome about that... it totally wasn't planned. Of course! We're twins. We share brainwaves like that. See? What she said. We don't plan. It just happens. Quote
antiaircraft Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Ah - standard variation A psychoelectromagnetic neural signal synchronisation. Of course. Naturally, I'm tempted to make a graph and do some comparisons. But I should probably get some sleep before my next exam. xD Quote
Spritzie Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 :laughingsmiley: Theo, I would say sleep is more important. Plus, you could always do that after your exam. Quote
antiaircraft Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Heh, I'm a bit ashamed to admit it, but I'd actually have to learn how to use GraphViz or GNUplot in conjunction with a data harvester script before I could do that in any time efficient manner anyway. :P So yeah, I'll stick around until I'm done with this one last pass through the microcontroller manual... Quote
Spritzie Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 It's too early in the morning for that level of tech-speak. (It's before 9am here. By about... 1 minute.) Quote
antiaircraft Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Basically I'm saying that I probably shouldn't be doing a bunch of searches and manually entering all the data into a spreadsheet, but I haven't yet learnt to use the automated tools to generate the graph from raw search data. Quote
Spritzie Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010  See? I'm nodding and smiling. But that does sound like a better idea. When you don't know what you're doing, you're likely to screw things up. I wish people would remember that. Quote
livvy Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 And yet, we are also told we never know until we try. Quote
Spritzie Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 True. But people should try things out on the things they can't break. Though that might put some people out of a job. Quote
livvy Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 That would be smart. But you're correct, there are so many jobs that rely on people doing not-smart things. :P Kind of sad, really. I have Christmas songs stuck in my head. 'tis the season, I suppose. Quote
Spritzie Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Yeah it is, but it's probably a win-win. People get to try things out, and the others get their jobs. Quote
IrishLiz Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Ok I saw xkcd on the last page so I just have to comment... I love that comic! I actually used two comics on the final that I wrote for my freshman college biology course. One of them was for fun on the front page, and the other I actually used for a question. I was excited about that. Quote
Quark Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Ok I saw xkcd on the last page so I just have to comment... I love that comic! I actually used two comics on the final that I wrote for my freshman college biology course. One of them was for fun on the front page, and the other I actually used for a question. I was excited about that. Don't you just love it when you get to use something fun for a class? Especially if it can break up a grueling, monotonous task. I'm pretty excited that my professor was awesome enough to let me write a paper on Star Trek and its moving zeitgeist. (Less so thrilled that someone else in my class is writing their paper about Justin Beiber. HOW. WHY. I'm pretty sure she's a few years older than me and the fact that she's admitted more than once to having a crush on a SIXTEEN year old freaks me so much. You are over 18, stopitnow.) Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I have Christmas songs stuck in my head. 'tis the season, I suppose. Merry Christmas To You is stuck in mine. I don't mind it though, since I like it. Quote
Tyler. Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I haven't been in the Christmas mood at all yet... Quote
Spritzie Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I can't stand hearing Christmas music. And it's all over most places now. One radio station here has been playing it 24/7 since before Thanksgiving. Quote
Tyler. Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Christmas music usually, if not always annoys me Quote
