IrishLiz Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I want to read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy again. Quote
Spritzie Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 That was a really cute movie. That poor depressed robot. :( Quote
Noog Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Ryan, I'm 200 pages in the first book and I know that the eragon series is actually called Inheritance. XD Quote
Wembly Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 My Eragon book was bought when it first came out and Christopher Paolini was only planning to do three books not 4 so it says "The inheritance Trilogy" on it :laughingsmiley: This was my face when I read he was writing 4 :woot: This is my face now and I not so patiently wait for the last book <_< Quote
Noog Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 My reading face: :handlebars: lol, jk. This book is finally starting to pick up though. Quote
livvy Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 So you grow a mustache when you read? ...Cool. b) Quote
Noog Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 So you grow a mustache when you read? ...Cool. b) Not necessarily, but Will's muffins do make you grow a goatee. *strokes* :goatee: Quote
Unstream Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Bleh, I feel very... flat today. Does that make sense? I don't know why, I just feel kinda like I'm on auto-pilot. And this bothers me, because with mum out of the house, I was planning on making another HeyTDN video. But since I don't have the enthusiasm for that, I should probably work on summer reading stuff... but I don't really have the energy for that either. It's like a fever feeling, but minus the fever. I know what you mean Livvy. I've been feeling that way today too. Friday the 13th! :P I've actually been feeling pretty zen today. It's nice :) There are a lot of good books I'd recommend. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is really good. I also enjoyed Fahrenheit 451. Michael Crichton has some pretty good books like Prey or Andromeda Strain. And there are more but they're more fantasy and I'm not sure you'd want to read them. Quote
livvy Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Friday the 13th has flattened me! :O *is smushed* I didn't like Fahrenheit 451. I'm just not a fan of the "Society is terrible and oppressive" theme that my English teachers seem to so enjoy. Quote
Ruto Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I actually enjoyed that book! I normally hate any book that I have to read for an assignment, but I liked that one. :) Too bad I don't remember most of it. Quote
Unstream Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I don't think it says society is that way, but it points out that that's where it's kinda heading, and making people realize it's probably not what they want. And I kinda liked some of the concepts. Like having an open mind and practicing humility. But the part I didn't like was where Clarisse dies. She was my favorite character :( Quote

It's the paperback version from 2005. Noog is actually making me want to read that again. :D I WANT FOURTH BOOK D=< *rageface* Quote
Unstream Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Actually, after he realized that the series needed more than three books, he started calling it the Inheritance Cycle instead. I kinda want the last one too, though I think the ending would be fairly predictable. Quote

Anisha Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 There are a lot of good books I'd recommend. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is really good. I loved the Book Thief. :O It was really good. I really enjoyed. Quote
IrishLiz Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I never read Eragon. I haven't seen the Hitchhiker's movie either. I liked Fahrenheit 451, but I love books. I think that having to read books for class makes them not fun anymore. Quote
Ruto Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I have the pronunciation things in all three of my books, as well as Paolini's notes. Deloi moi! Quote
Wembly Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I got the first chapter read by the author for free on iTunes a while ago which was pretty cool to hear how he says all the words. Its probably still there if anyone's interested. Quote
antiaircraft Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I should really try and get myself more of Michael Crichton's books... I really enjoyed the ones I've read so far, and I find the concept of Prey very intriguing. Unfortunately I have a bunch of biographies I should get through before I can grab any new books. :( Quote
IrishLiz Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Prey was okay. I really liked both Jurassic Parks. Andromedia Strain is pretty good too. Quote
antiaircraft Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I've read the first Jurassic Park novel, but the second one is still on my to-read list. Which is very, very long. xD Quote
IrishLiz Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I have a long one too. I have too many non-fiction books sometimes, and then I lose interest in reading a bit and have to remind myself that I need to add some fiction as well. I usually read about 3 books at a time. Right now, I think I might have more like 5 or 6 started. :* I think I've had book ADD recently. Quote
antiaircraft Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 My current reading list (when filtered down to books I actually have) is 100% non-fiction... which is kinda slowing me down. :P I don't find biographies particularly interesting, I prefer stuff on bleeding edge mathematics and physics. Quote
-Ryan Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I don't read non-fiction anymore. When I was younger my teachers used to tell me to go read something else instead of reading about animals all he time. xD Lol, already on page 133 of that book I started yesterday. :P Quote
Unstream Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 My reading list is actually extremely short. I'm finishing up The Necromancer and then I'm going to read 1984. I've started to read really slowly so I don't run out of books by the end of the summer :P. Quote
