Spritzie Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I have heard Metric a couple of times and I liked the female singer's voice, obviously. Amy Lee of Evanescence has a very nice, sort of bold voice. And I have never heard Feist before. Is she good? I am going to check some songs of her right now. :laughingsmiley: I usually end up like male singer's music better, but there are female artists I love. Like one of my favorites is Colbie Caillat. She has a very pretty voice, beautiful music/songs, beautiful lyrics. Then there's Taylor Swift. I love her music as well. I could be....but I am not because I am smart. The people in my school like the blone-blue eyed dumb girls and the guys who are bad. Sigh. But I am glad that I am not popular because being popular is a full time job. I guess that explained what I did wrong in HS. Since I was blonde-green eyed, and smart. :laughingsmiley: Awww I am sorry Tyler. You must get sooo bored during class with no one to text under you desk. :D Texting? Teachers allow phones in class now? When I was in HS, pagers got taken away if they saw them. Even if they were clipped on your pants and you didn't have them out. I kept mine hooked on my pocket, with the pager inside the pocket. Haha, I don't know what we did before texting. Oh yeah thats right, we just passed notes, I suppose kids these day are more environmentally friendly? I'm not sure the circuitry waste from old cell phones is actually better than the cost of paper from trees though... I did notes in 9th grade when my friends weren't in my classes. We passed them when we saw each other. In 7th and 8th, my friends and I used Sign Language. Nothing to be caught with. No one else knew it to read it. And no one could prove anything. :laughingsmiley: Quote
Wembly Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Wow,secret sign language is really intense. Quite frankly I was too lazy to even write notes. I told my friends they could wait until we had time to actually physically talk. Quote
Spritzie Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 A few of us, made an effort to learn Sign Language, because we had quite a few deaf kids in our school, that went to regular classes with the help of interpreters. I had at least 1-3 deaf kids in almost every class in 6th and 7th. That's originally why I started teaching myself sign language. Then a few of my friends were learning it as well, so it worked out. And it made a huge difference. One of the girls that was deaf that I used to talk to in a couple of my classes... I saw her a couple years ago, working at a grocery store, and she remembered me and wanted to get together sometime. (And it had been probably 7-8 years since I had last seen her. Quote
Wembly Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Wow that's cool. My friends and I decided to be silly one day and went to the library to start learning sign language but we didn't actually learn anything useful. Just things like prison baby, rotten bug, skunk, giraffe, random words that amused us. Quote
Spritzie Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I've always preferred SL. It bothered me that they didn't teach it as a language at my HS. I learn visually much easier than verbally. I tried learned Spanish, but I couldn't. Whereas, SL was very very easy for me. My best friend is actually in a sign language church. That's where she met her now husband. He actually did interpreting for awhile. Quote
Wembly Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Yeah, my high school only offered spanish or french. I was always sad that we only had those two choices. So I ended up taking 6 years of spanish (including middle school) which I guess has been useful but I would have enjoyed learning sign language or latin would have been useful too. Quote
Spritzie Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I'm not sure what was offered, as I never had to take one. My sister did German, when she could, because my family is German. Where as my mom learned Spanish, back when she was in school. My husband has been working on learning Japanese and Russian. I might give it a shot, and try to learn Japanese with him. That would be pretty cool. Quote
Divya Bean Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 I took Spanish for 6 years and then I switched to Latin this year because we had the option. It is soooo much better!! And Spritzie, we arent allowed to use phones, we just do. Its like that with gum, cheating, etc... I dont cheat though. I am smart so people try cheating off of me. :grrr: Quote
Tyler. Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 This summer I'm going to learn Spanish. It will help considering what part of the country I am in. There are a lot of languages I want to, learn (Greek, Russian, Japanese, etc.) And texting in class? o_O My school doesn't even allow you to keep phones in your backpack Quote
Divya Bean Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Hahha! The kids at my school are so bad that they do drugs and stuff in the bathroom. :sad02: :grrr: Quote
Spritzie Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Hahha! The kids at my school are so bad that they do drugs and stuff in the bathroom. :sad02: :grrr: I think kids just like to rebel. At my HS, you weren't allowed to smoke on school grounds, so all the kids would do it between buildings. Or across the street at a park. (My HS was in the middle of downtown.) And I was a freshman in HS like... 10 years ago, nearly. Actually, in August... it will have been 10 years since I went to HS. And I'm sure it's TONS worse now, then it was then. Quote
Divya Bean Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Yeah it probably is. Kids are sooo much worse today then they were. My parents have NO idea of what the kids are like at my school. Quote
Swim freak Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Hahha! The kids at my school are so bad that they do drugs and stuff in the bathroom. :sad02: :grrr: ya same, you'd be surprised how many kid come to school high... Quote
Divya Bean Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Ughhh I know! It is sooo disgusting and then you know how sad their life is. I really REALLY REALLY hope that I will NOT be like that! :sad01_anim: Quote
Monster Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 My school is bad for having kids coming to school high and even drunk, I knew a girl who passed out in the bathroom once. I could care less what people do with their lives, since it's theirs, but don't bring it school, that's just stupid. Don't have to deal with it anymore though, graduating in the next few days. :king: Quote

I am in 7th grade so I have a while until I graduate HS! :(. Watevs, I will try to enjoy what I can. :D Quote
Theresa2 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Monster thats really bad they come to school drunk if there not going there to learn why even go at all makes no sence Quote

I don't like it either. Shows how low they really can get. But the girl passing out in bathroom was funny. :laughingsmiley: I have yet two years left for my graduation. Wow, time passes so fast. I am in 10th standard right now, doing science. Getting graduated would be fun, for sure. Quote
Tyler. Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I have a couple years left until I even get to HS and kids at my school don't do that, I don't see anyway they could get away with it Quote
Divya Bean Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I have a couple years left until I even get to HS and kids at my school don't do that, I don't see anyway they could get away with it Oh they dont get away with it. They get detentions, suspensions, or even get expelled. However, I think suspensions and expelling them doesnt help because you are just letting them free to do MORE drugs. :worried: Quote
Spritzie Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 My sister used to go to HS with a girl that would put alcohol in water bottles, and take them to school. And it really is amazing what kids can hide and get away with now. And even if they get caught, a lot don't care anymore either. Quote
Divya Bean Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Why would kds do things like that? I know they do it at first to be popular, but after that...why? Quote
Wembly Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Because they are dumb and don't realize that things you do know have lasting consequences such as getting addicted and getting so caught up in a life style that is only dragging you down that they can't see that it has become a problem. And because they are dumb -_- Quote
Domino Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I. Am very uncomfortable with the new giant omelette picture/don't like it at all. Anyone else? PS. Sorry I've kind of been MIA this past week/two weeks. That's what happens when a friends cousin can install photoshop for you. :D Quote
Wembly Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 You don't like it? Why? It actually looks like an omelette now and not a giant blob of melting butter. I personally enjoy it, well I'm kind of in love with omelettes in real life though too Quote
