Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 That's not fun, Myles. =\ This is my second day running on no sleep. Two nights ago, my brain stayed active while I slept (which I already told you about), and then last night I tried to sleep but couldn't fall asleep at all. :sad01_anim: Go see a doctor/get sleep medication? Because if this keeps going on I'm going to be concerned about your well being. my brain stays active every night x_x & last night, way more than just not being able to sleep, I just don't feel comfortable posting it. Ah Myles that sounds horrible :( I really wish something could be done to help you out. Quote
livvy Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Go see a doctor/get sleep medication? Because if this keeps going on I'm going to be concerned about your well being. I appreciate your concern. I'll be fine though. :) I mean, eventually I'll HAVE to sleep, right? Quote
Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I suppose, but you can still not get enough of it. And that could be pretty bad for you. Just don't want you getting sick or getting in an accident or something. It's nice having you here. Now here's an interesting thought. Why do we need sleep? Quote
̊ ˉˉ ̊ Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I noticed that my italicized problem is gone now. Quote
Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Well it's been on and off for me. Like it's still there when I look at the posts on the last page. Quote

Just don't want you getting sick or getting in an accident or something. It's nice having you here. Now here's an interesting thought. Why do we need sleep? ^_^ Hm... well... Sleep gives your brain and body a chance to rest and to heal. If you left your computer on all the time, it would run down pretty quickly. So you turn it off and plug it in to give it time to recharge. Sleep is our recharge mechanism. Quote
Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 But I read in a Wired magazine that sleep only saves 50 Calories in an average 8 hours from our normal activity. And it also argued that we can get rest mindlessly staring at our computer. An article online says: But there is more to the functions of sleep than bodily repair. Sleep experiments have shown that sleep deprivation measurably impairs speech, memory and problem solving skills. Sleep studies have also shown that sleep deprivation causes people to lose control of their language, planning and sense of time. In fact, being awake for 17 hours (say, from 7am until midnight) is the same as having a blood alcohol level of 0.05% – the legal driving limit. Ooh, the mysteries of this world :P Quote

Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I mean, you're losing sleep for your education. But that also might be counter-productive. Maybe if it's possible you could take less extra ciriculars or less intensive classes. Just so, y'know, you don't overwhelm yourself. Quote
livvy Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I've always known it was counter-productive; I just didn't realize HOW counterproductive it was. I'll try to schedule easier classes next year... (If I make it to next year...) Quote
Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 You'll make it to next year. No mental breakdowns, okay? For our insanity :D Quote
Revenge Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 That quote box changes color when inside another quote box. I wonder how many times it changes color for each quote-within-quote box...? Quote
livvy Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Gotcha. *nods dutifully* For our insanity. :) @Revenge That quote box changes color when inside another quote box. I wonder how many times it changes color for each quote-within-quote box...? It can change three times, I believe. As shown in this demonstration. But here's a fourth layer to test. And a fifth for good measure. Quote
Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Haha this forum is cool, but I'm starting to miss the old layout. It seemed cooler and sleeker and less bubbly then. I just liked the color scheme better. I think we're supposed to be able to change that later, so I guess it might not be too bad. Quote
livvy Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I actually agree. I like the color scheme of this one, but I liked the color scheme of the old one too. I also preferred the old spoilers. They didn't interrupt the flow of your post as much. =\ But I mean, this one is cool too. Once I get used to it, I'm sure I'll be alright. I just... I feel like I'm in an apartment as opposed to my home TDNF. Quote
Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Yeah, I agree with the home analogy. But I personally like the spoilers. It's just nicer for me to be able to click and see it and not have to highlight it. Highlighting things can get bothersome sometimes. Quote
livvy Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I dunno. When I was telling Laura that I didn't want to say "pie" because some people (whose posts I currently can't see) would carry on about the "co sign of pie" (which should be the "cosine of pi" which is -1) I was expecting it to be a single line, but the spoilers broke it up to 8 or so lines. That bothered me. Quote
Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Yeah I understand what you mean. But maybe you could do something like this? ^Text there :D But as for what you were talking to Laura about, to reuse an old diagram: <-----words O <---head :P Quote
livvy Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Ohh! I like it! That's brilliant, Will! Brilliant! I shall permanently borrow this concept. :P Haha, I love that diagram. I've used it on numerous occasions myself. Quote
Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Heh, yeah, I've noticed :P And I'm glad you like my idea ^_^. You can send hidden messages with it too. You'd be like a ninja :shiftyeyes_anim: Edit: No, I didn't break a rule. Quote
livvy Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Just be careful, Will. You might wanna have 7 words up there. :worried: 7 easily visible words, that is. Quote
Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 xD Well I had more than 7 words up there. But thanks. I made it a bit more clear. Quote
livvy Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Yay for not breaking rules! But I knew you didn't break one. Someone might think you did though. Did you highlight my previous post? It might end up being a good idea to just highlight everything. :P Quote
Unstream Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Haha no I didn't. We'll need to come up with an indicator or something. SpoilerLike this maybe? Quote
Captain Awesome Pants Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I'd say he didn't. XD EDIT: OOF NINJA'D Ooh! I changed my picture! It's more recent (if you consider months ago recent :P) Quote
