leedom111
I was putting flea medicine on my kitty and he scratched me. Got me all the way up my left ring finger. IT REALLY HURTS---- I just needed to share -_-; p.s. I'm typing with my right hand edit: er, maybe I shouldn't have capitalized the title? I don't know how to fix it... Xepha
Awww very sorry you were clawed by your kitty. They do tend to hate medicine, of any kind. :(
leedom111
The silly thing is that it only goes on their neck! @____@ Maybe they just don't like it cause it's stinky or cold or something...
Suus
Oh, I know that! Our cat hates that too. I have to be really quick when I put it on her, because otherwise she freaks out, and she bites and scratches and such D:
Rae
As much as I love cats, I HATE the pain of their scratches. Hope the pain ebbs for you!
Sweetdang
Urgh, hope the pain goes away fast? :P I don't have a cat, but then there's always things like this to consider. :)
Nataluna
cats are the worst. recently we thought our kitty had a tooth problem and took her to the vet, he thought she was fine (and then she bit him) maybe as punishment he gave us 14 days worth of antibiotics (1 tablet twice a day) worst 2 weeks ever. so i feel your pain (all our family have the scars! :P) ever read the joke about how to give a pill to a cat? and nowadays we try the towel thing where you wrap them up first, doesn't always work, but reduces scratches, also we all wear gardening gloves, helps save your hands ^_^ i think i'm seeing why the idea of getting a dog always get shot down when i bring it up. Ruto
I've got two little bite mark scars on my thumb from when I tried to get my cat out of the kennel. Cat attacks hurt. :(
leedom111
So fortunately the pain is pretty much gone now ^^ And as another plus kitty is much more friendly now! He's a rescue kitty, so he started out totally terrified of people, but he's been making huge progress recently. Maybe because I started giving him treats XD The towel thing works pretty well, but sometimes they wiggle so much they get free.
Sweetdang
That's awesome! It's always great when people and animals start to warm up to and trust you. :)
leedom111
I know! ^^ He also has a mom and brother. The mother was already pretty friendly, and the brother warmed up quick. I was starting to worry about him. Maybe I should have started giving him treats earlier XD
Nataluna
How to Give a Cat a Tablet (hidden because of length) Pick the cat up and cradle in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth pop pill into it, allow cat to close mouth and swallow. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind the sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process. Retrieve cat from bedroom and throw soggy pill away. Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call partner in from garden. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get partner to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously. Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from the foil wrap. Make note to buy a new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered 'Dolton' figurines from hearth and set to one side for gluing later. Wrap cat in large towel and get partner to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force cat's mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw. Check label to make sure pills not harmful to humans, drink glass of water to take taste away. Apply plaster to partners forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap. Retrieve cat from neighbours shed and get another pill. Place cat in cupboard and close door onto neck to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon and flick pill down throat with elastic band. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put door back on hinges. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus jab. Throw t-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom. Ring fire brigade to retrieve cat from tree across the road and apologise to neighbour who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid the cat. Take last pill from foil wrap. Tie cats front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy duty pruning gloves from shed and pry cat's mouth open with a small spanner. Push pill into mouth followed by a large piece of fillet steak. Hold head vertically and pour a pint of water down throat to wash down pill. Get partner to drive you to the Emergency Room and sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearms and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call at furniture shop on way home to order new table. Arrange for RSPCA to collect cat. Ring local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters. How to Give a Dog a Tablet Throw it in the air. Optional: wrap it in bacon before tossing ---- with the back of the neck thing, i find it easier if you hold their body between your legs and use you hands (in gloves) to hold the front paws down (my cat sometimes sleeps like this, they look like a little box) and that way its much more difficult for them to scratch you, get a second person to administer the flea drops. anything with cats is a 2+ people job ;) one of my favourite books is the unadulterated cat by terry pratchett, everything in there is true (and super funny) with softening up kitty, mine i hand feed her flaked tuna or cooked chicken torn up in strips as treats. mine's exceptionally picky so she never eats the special treats you can buy. if you feed cats canned fish/food already they do like human grade tuna, salmon seems too soft for my kitty. another friend feeds hers fresh fish all the time (its cheaper in her home country than in australia) rescue kitties are jumpy at first but i find them to be the most affectionate cats i've ever met.
