binkygirl999
They should definitely be more clear about rules, and put them in a really obvious link, if they are going to freeze people for things like giving items away. And they should ensure that if an account is going to be frozen, it has to be looked at by a human first and not just frozen by the system. They could easily set accounts to suspend rather than freeze to give them a few days to look at it all. I guess they feel they have enough members now that it doesn't matter if they lose a few hundred a week or whatever.
behati
Whoever comes up with these rules for TNT are the people I hate. I don't want to blame the people whose job is to follow them and ensure they are followed. I hate their customer service. They claim to be a childrens site but use adult definitions for their policies. Ex I like cream. It is a dairy product. But the definition TNT uses is probably xxx. In reality, they are the ones who teach kids bad things
Welcome Back Apathy
If they don't allow words such as "evil" and "teddy" and "something" and "Kass" then they're being extremely hypocritical since they do it themselves frequently in their own game. ^This. Why does TNT HAVE items with these names? Games with these names? And really, they can't do a bad on "(space)meth" and "meth(space" instead if they're going to moderate it? The one that drives me the most insane, though, is that in way too many situations, you can't even use apostrophes. This drives me insane, because yes, I like to use contractions, but I also show possession. It is impossible to write a grammatically correct paragraph in my guild or in a neomail because I'm not allowed to use an apostrophe. You also can't use similes a lot of the time, because a lot of adjectives in front of the word "as" are banned. You can't say that something is as dumb as, big as, hard as, etc. Also, nobody can own a hat. Because if someone has a hat, then there will be an s at the end of the previous word. So-and-so's hat. Uh-oh, they see something in there that I never noticed. EDIT: also, did you know that one of the faeries in Faerieland of NeoQuest II says a bad word? Bunch of hypocrites. Piticent
OK, guys, I understand what you all think about the filters. I know they exist, I have the SAME feelings. Please understand this. I am not against anybody here. HOWEVER, I am here to say that TNT does actually have human mods. They're monitoring even on holidays. Yes, there are some staff in the office today to warn you if you say "it was something called kass basher..." I present messages from TNT on my second warn. there 'ya go. Not just bots. Again, I'm not against anybody, I'm just presenting some evidence for false claims.
Welcome Back Apathy
INSERT_NAME_HERE: Ah, so if we want to complain about TNT, we should do it on here instead. :-) I don't find what you did to be "harassment" at all. You just said you don't like their filters. If that's their idea of harassment, they must really not be able to take constructive criticism at all. Piticent
Yup. Exactly my opinion also. Frankly, if they redid the ticket system, help tool, and warning program altogether, a lot would be happier. For example, i didnt spot abuse or impersonate TNT, but thats what they flagged me for...this whole system is just messed up. If. Bots could report words to mods instead of warning the user diirectly, it would be 1000% better
I Love TDN
TNT has to be strict about stuff because of little kids. They don't want young children to pick up dirty words or anything vulgar or extreme. They are afraid that the children's parents will blame Neopets for everything. And think about other things such as scam. What if some people went to fake sites that claim to be "Neopets" and the people entered their personal information? Little kids may see like on fake sites "Download (Blank) and get a free paint brush!!!" and even click on the download buttons and get viruses on their computers. And get into the habit of double checking stuff because you may never know what may happen. And obviously that have to use bots. Do you think they can check EVERYTHING on Neopets that's going on? Bots are very useful for many ways. And bots cannot determine what you say and TNT is strict for your own protection and for others.
Sweetdang
I believe they do it to protect younger users... but it does get a little... well I know why they do it, but I'm just afraid I'll egt frozen for a reason that I don't even know! ^^;
MELioristic
I once saw an entire board of people saying inappropriate things. It looked like they were just doing it to see how long it would take TNT to catch them, this was on the Neoboard, but was not Neopets related at all. They included detailed descriptions about things they do with their boyfriends.
Sweetdang
Goodness! I guess now we knoe why they have to be so strict... it isn't falt of us, but because we're a community, we pay for the fault of each other.
Lady Lyuba
They are super strict to protect younger players. In fact, I actually wish more sites were this strict, well, maybe not with all the WORD FILTERS but at least to keep cyber bullies and trolls away. :( I lost my account on Facebook once due to a cyber bully, and if Facebook was a bit stricter the cyber bully would have been the one who lost their account, not me. There are so many rules to also make it fair to all the other players as far as doing something goes. There is a limit to everything you do there to keep the Neopian economy in balance (and that's why we call em "dailies"), and lots of simple rules to teach younger players how to be safe on the Internet. You learn at a young age to never give out your password to anyone which is true for any website. They have to do what they do even if it means freezing thier grandma. However, talking might as well be put an end to as the filters don't seem to let you say nearly anything. This will hurt Neomail offers on the Trading Post however. April
I always write "That's almost as bad as." not even thinking and then it tells me that's wrong. Half the time when I send a neomail and it won't let me I spend ages trying to find my error. Yet the annoying trolls just live on. I get that it's for kids but some of this is just too much. I complain but I'll never quit. On this note I believe that they have certain words that flags them and they go check out the post. For example I posted "I wonder how Neopets monitors all the guild chat" since my friend and I got warned for saying let's have a tea party in there. I within, seconds got a neomail saying that monitors are every24/7 and ect. It wasn't a warning just a message. Also when I was asking people about an email I got from someone pretending to be staff saying I had to give my password and everything to keep my account I got a message within a couple minutes answering my questino I asked, which is "where do you report off site emails?" They sent me the link in the Neomail and answered all my questions.
Sweetdang
What's wrong with "that's almost as bad as"?
April
They think you are trying to write something else. :/ I always do that and hten it takes me forever to realize why why neomails are not going through.
Russ
They need to lighten up and with things like "that's almost as bad as" or other things that are vaguely similar to something obscene, they should just look at the context before randomly giving you a warning. But tea parties are totally inappropriate for younger users, man. You never see little kids at those rallies.
April
It's sad that people abused the system so much they filter things like " a hole" I was trying to write how my puppy broke her leg and said she fell in a hole and it would not let me send. Took me forever to figure out why.
loveconservative
I think they do take it a bit too far. You have to worry so much even when you know you're not saying anything profane or offensive. I find it a bit sad, really! :(
Yuika
They definitely take it too far. I had a friend get frozen for typing "secs," short for "seconds." As in, "I'll be back in a few secs." Really, TNT? They should at least read the post to decide whether the word is being used inappropriately, since no matter what they do, people will find ways around it... it sometimes takes me five tries to send a friggin neomail, going through it sentence by sentence! Welcome Back Apathy
Bear with me for a second. I swear this will end up being relevant. Throughout college, I joked that I was going to host an innuendo party. That is, I was going to serve only food that could be misconstrued as naughty, and play only games that could be misconstrued as inappropriate. My evil plan, I continued, was to have a few completely clean items thrown in, so people would hunt for the innuendo in them and tell me I have a sick mind when they come up with something I haven't. ...THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT TNT IS DOING. When they block completely innocent things, the younger players start asking why, and an older sibling will help them find out things they did not know. If they have human moderators, then they can read the flagged posts. Shouldn't be that hard. I know they have a lot to get through, but it's much better than letting a post go through and then freezing without reading it.

April
I officially think they take it too far. All my accounts got it perma silenced. Nope my view is different. My 7 year account. Someone in the same house as me was flaming and trolling... They silenced all accounts using the IP address. Without even looking. :k Yep, too far for me. Puppetwomon
Yeah, it's neopet nanny. Fair enough if they don't let the posts through, delete them etc but they shouldn't be freezing people until they are intentionally trying to troll, etc. That's what humans are for. I don't like using the neoboards etc in case I accidently type a 'profane' word without even thinking. And unfortunately what happens is that people try to get around the filters, making things like a hole also filtered. Like mentioned about not saying ''. I can see, they are trying to get harassment and bullying to 0, but aiming for that means more censorship. So it seems like a lose lose situation. And it seems like anything that could be considered as harassment is, such as criticism of TNT as you can see in Pruple Monster's post. Soon criticizing the artwork or something will be classified as harassing messages.
maku
I personally think that neopets has become a profit oriented game rather than a family oriented-kid oriented one like it used to be. That is why they are so strict. Well, that is my only my opinion.
April
True. In my guild I said TNT is being frustrating right now. I was talking about how they should hire more people if they can't respond to tickets in months. And I got silecned. DX
N4t4713
My friend got banned because she was talking to her rl friend about how she was going to "kill" her neopet when they fight in the battledome. Sooooo dumb.
