Do you believe in Aliens?

Personally, I'm completely on the fence with this one. I tend to be a seeing is believing kind of gal, but after watching some Discovery shows, how can you not believe in Aliens?

How is it that in several part of the world ancient civilizations all made the same pyramids, the same way? In 2500 BC man did not have the tools or knowledge necessary to build the pyramids, as accurately as they are built, they could have been made by aliens. Lights in the sky, UFOs, crop circles, alien abduction stories, the internet is full of all this evidence to prove aliens exist. If they built our pyramids, and make crop circles, why aren't they here now, why don't they show themselves?

On the other hand, we can never discredit man's life achieving successes, it may just be a coincidence that pyramids are seen in several areas of the world. Lights in the sky and UFOs can just be planes, satellites and other objects that the governments don't want the civilians to know about. Crop circles and abduction stories can be made up easily, we all know that humans have incredible imaginations, and is it really that hard to bend corn plants into big geometric shapes?

I don't really believe in aliens. I've never watched discovery shows on aliens so I don't know if the make you believe in aliens.

There are many reasons how Egyptians made pyramids so perfectly. It could be because they built it for the Pharaohs. They might've been like "Oh! The pyramid is for our Pharaoh. We have to make the pyramid really well so that he has a good after life." Yeah, so maybe that's what they thought and built it that good. Or maybe its just because the builders were slaves. It could have been like they would be put to death if they didn't make the pyramid looks good. Oh and if aliens did come to earth and build pyramids, why should we be afraid of them? I mean they helped Pharaohs have a good after life.

Abduction stories are just made to scare people, nothing else.

Maybe there are aliens. *shrugs* But I do believe that there are some other living beings, in some other galaxy. I've thought about that many times before and I always come to the conclusion that there are other living-beings, that we can't be the only ones living in the whole universe.

I took an astronomy for dummies type class in my last semester at college this spring (I wanted to take classes in subjects I most likely would never study again). If there is one thing that I learned besides the fact that many astronomers are HORRIBLE PROFESSORS, its that this universe is so BIG with so many billions and billions of stars with potentially trillions of possible planets. It would be arrogant to say that our little insignificant speck (as Jon Stewart describes it, an atom on a speck of dust on a pimple on God's butt) is the only one that holds intelligent life. Pure statistics to me.

I also grew up loving Star Trek so that probably biases my opinion in one way or another lol.

Is there life outside of Earth?

Yes I believe there is life on a other planets.

We exist too, don't we?

Other lifeforms on other planets in the universe are maybe small or not as far evolved as we are.

But maybe they are, and they are searching the universe too for other lifeforms. But it will take 1000 maybe 10,000 years until we'll be able to find those lifeforms.

I don't believe in aliens having been on our planet, but it's very difficult not to believe in aliens outside of our solar system. There are a couple planets (and moons) just inside of this solar system who were very close to being able to support life, so chances are one of the billions and billions of stars in the universe have life-supporting planets.

Oops, sorry for posting in the wrong area.

Any way, although the universe is hugely huge, and life is probably out there I don't think that they will be human, maybe plants, or other things, what I think is that it will still be several hundred years until us humans are ready to travel through space farther than the Milkyway.

The Earth was in a PERFECT area to provide life, so that means, out of the billions of stars in the galaxies, for there to provide life, it must have PERFECT alignment with its sun, moon, and whatever it has. Earth was one of them. That's like saying, finding the perfect mate, out of the billion people on Earth, you would probably only find a few million maybe, plus they would be all scattered. If there was life outside of our planet, the next time we would have contact with that life form, they might have probably been dead already or developing, and we as humans have to tamper with it.

I think aliens exist. But not in a little green man way. If we ever found any they are most likely to exist as bacteria or small organisms, that are nowhere near advanced as humans.

Of course it is possible that there are advanced life forms living somewhere in the universe, but unless they are more advanced than us I don't think they'll ever find us. As I think humans will never quite be able to travel far enough, fast enough to be able to travel far away to discover aliens. Think how slow space travel is at current. It takes 7 years to reach Saturn which is inside our solar system. Breaking the speed of light barrier would be a major breakthrough but it's pretty unlikely it will happen. /:

This is more of an opinion of what you believe. Think of the Theory of Evolution and how we evolved from apes. Where did those apes evolve from? Smaller organisms. Life could have made it to earth via frozen bacteria on a meteor/comet (I forget which one is which) which evolved over billions of years into what we are today. Life can't exactly spontaneously appear from nowhere and it had to come from somewhere. What better place that not on earth, but space.

First off there has to be life on other planets. There are billions and billions of stars let alone galaxies. As far as have we had contact with them most likely. I doubt that we would have had so many different stories from all over the world at the same time talking about the same things without some truth behind it.

One thing that i find amusing is that a few people say that they wouldn't be as advanced as us. I believe that is completely untrue. As far as the universe is concerned we are babies. Life is believed to have began 14 billion years ago and our solar system didn't even come to be until 4.5 billion years ago. So the idea that we are the most advanced civilization seems outrageous to me. I don't believe that almost 10 billion years could go by before we were even around and there is no other species of life out there other then plants.

I do believe in aliens in some way.

I mean, the universe is just so big, so how can we possibly think we're the only lifeforms in the entire universe? There might be aliens some many, many light years away in all those distant galaxies. And who knows, they might visit us one day, or we visit them (Probability: less than 1%. I don't think we're that advanced to do that yet.). They might also help us one day if so happens that the Earth happens to collapse (I don't believe that the end of the world is next year by the way). It would be nice to meet aliens, but I think I would be already dead if they happened to visit us. And it's possible that they might look like us, or somewhat like that.

So yeah, I'm sure there must be lifeforms somewhere in the universe. We just don't know it yet. ^_^

i think that aliens do exsist. i also think that even if they did vist they would look down at us and see a bunch of waring tribes. i don't think they would see us as advanced enough if we can't even get along with our own speices. but thats just my opinon(sp).

As a Christian, the idea that there must be life out there given the size of the universe doesn't hold much weight with me, and this is because to God, the universe may not be big at all. I like a point brought up by Rick Larson (presenter of "The Star of Bethlehem" DVD) - We have over a trillion cells in our bodies, but does this make us huge? It's all relative.

There is a man named Gary Bates that has done a great deal of research and is under the belief that aliens are demonic beings in disguise. When you take a look at many alien accounts, this view makes a lot of sense. It's also interesting that you don't hear about alien encounters from Christians, just as you don't hear about Christians seeing ghosts....

There are definitely some interesting theories out there!

I don't believe in little green guys.

But I am open to the possibility of life in other galaxies.

I feel you would have to be closed minded to dismiss this completely.

Perhaps there is another planet with a set up much like Earth.

Well of course since we can't be the ONLY life in the universe, there has to be life on other planets SOMEWHERE. But not the kind we write about in science fiction. Then again we don't know since we can't go that far out and neither can they.

There has been belief, however, of life on our neighboring planet, Mars, microscopic organisims smaller than the width of a single hair. But the water is no longer there so the organisims are dead/fossilized. I find it possible if there was once water on Mars that there could have been life, but in order for there to be life on anther planet it has to have water. And Earth can't possibly be the only planet with water, I have a huge feeling it isn't the only one.
