Hello there folks, I’m here in the station and Motz is out on the field again to bring you the most up to date information about the Altador Cup there is. We’ve risked life and limb, and our security guard has resigned so Motz is out there all on her own again. And now for the results from today’s matches! Shenkuu was able to take Yooyuball from a shocked Virtupets, who have only lost one other game of Yooyuball. The Robots vastly underestimated the ninjas and tried toying with the underdog team, who responded with great skill and finesse and were nearly able to have a shutout match. Darigan Citadel knocked Maraqua from the top three in the closest match we’ve seen so far in the tournament - so close it ended in a tie! Though the close match came at a price for Darigan Citadel, knocking them from just below top four to seventh - if only by less than a point. Maraqua took Slushie Slinger, and Darigan Citadel took Make Some Noise, but Shootout Showdown ended in a tie as well. The former champs did better than they have been so far, with a draw in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, though Lost Desert lost Shootout Showdown and Slushie Slinger to Meridell. Meridell is doing as well as they did last year so far, though if they keep up the current pace they should place even higher. A sweep by Terror Mountain, as was to be expected, gave the Chillers enough points to climb into undisputed sixth place, though the gap between them and Darigan Citadel remains small enough that it could change very easily. Faerieland is currently placed sixteenth and will probably not rise much higher, although there is still more than half of the tournament to play through. Krawk Island swept the Roos, placing the Pirates back into the top three. Could they be the first team to win two Altador Cups? With a little over two points dividing the top placed team and third place, this tournament is still very much up in the air. We were able to talk to Nitri Cassale of Krawk Island for a moment. “We’re very excited, but we can’t let ego or overconfidence get in our way. Tomorrow’s game against Virtupets will probably make or break our chances of staying in the top three.” Despite Kreludor being placed thirteen spots above Mystery Island, the Islanders were able to take Shootout Showdown and draw Slushie Slinger. Kreludor is another team that gives up valuable points to smaller teams and it could cost them the cup in the end if the trend continues. Kiko Lake was able to take Yooyuball from Altador, who still has yet to win a game, but gave up Slushie Slinger to the cup’s hosts. Kiko Lake is currently doing better than they ever have in the Altador Cup and Captain “Poke” Cellers says he hopes to place in the top ten this year, but says “Don’t place your bets yet!” Moltara nearly side swiped Brightvale, though a last minute slushie slinging frenzy brought the score to a tie. Moltara is currently in last, with Brightvale in thirteenth, and neither will likely advance much before the end of the tournament. And now we break to Motz, who is back from the hospital after a nasty encounter with the wrong end of a plasma rifle, and is responsible for getting me a slushie. Motz? “Thank you, Lydia, it is good to be back on location, with all the casts off. The station was getting a bit stuffy. Okay, folks, Motz here, reporting the Tyrannia - Haunted Woods game here at the Altador Colosseum. We’ve had fans pouring in for this exciting match between two very commendable teams. Let’s look at the highlights, shall we? In today’s game, Haunted Woods exemplified it’s strongly offensive strategy, with Zo Junior exemplifying everything that the HW team stands for. Throughout the game, Neyhbol of Tyrannia was left in the dust, as Zo came back again and again, scoring spectacular shots, including a remarkable corner shot at the end of the first half. I would like to briefly pause and point out that in the past, Haunted Woods team has often played with a score-heavy charge, and Zo Junior plays to that example. Recently, Haunted Woods has come into a newfound strength, their recent playing potentially placing them in First Tier rankings. However, Tyrannia has been dancing in and out of the Top Four since the beginning of the Cup, and that was glaringly obvious in today’s game. Even with Zo Junior’s power packed playing, a unique strategy developed this year by Captain Loryche enabled her team to keep up, scoring just as many as the Korbat forward. This new strategy, using the new rules as a springboard for innovative playing, has kept other teams on their toes, while Tyrannia pulled ahead. Spectators were, however, shocked by the lukewarm playing by both defences. While the forwards kept up an intense game, the defenders were all left in the dust. Is this a forewarning for whats to come, and will this potentially damage both teams throughout the rest of the season? I doubt so, though analysts are starting to count up predictions a bit differently. Regardless of future games, both teams performed extremely well, the Yooyuball match ending in a tie. Shootout Showdown also ended in a tie, while Tyrannia took both Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise. The postgame has been spectacular, with fans from both sides mingling and congratulating, even with Tyrannia technically coming out on top. And, there are the teams now! Exiting the Stadium to roaring commendation from all their loyal fans. Let’s see if I can... Captain Loryche! Captain Loryche! May I have a word with you- Ugh, unhand me, I am a reporter! My press-pass, what do you- Bodyguard? Fine, fine then, here you go. Happy? Good. Captain Loryche, if I may have a word on behalf of TDN? Loryche: Well, I suppose you can, if you must. The gameplay today was intense. If I might ask, were you pleased with how your strategy held up? Loryche: Pleased? Of course I was pleased! Why wouldn’t I be? It held up spectacularly! Of course, of course. But, with all of the focus on your offense, did you not feel that the defence was...lacking? Loryche: Lacking? How dare you, I did not come here to be criticized by some uppity reporter! Brick, get her out of here. I need a slushie... What? I wasn’t criticizing you! It was a simple fact, I- Let go of me! No, no, Captain! You can’t deny this, fans will pick up on it, I’ll- Set me down, set me down! Not my recorder, no! [static] -important equipment-...-you brute! I’ll-...-press-pass!- [static]” Uh... Oh my. Now I want a slushie, and Motz was supposed to bring one back for me! Well that’s all for today folks. Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow as Altador takes on the former champs - will they finally end their losing streak in Yooyuball? Darigan Citadel will go head to head with Kreludor, trying to secure a spot in the top five. Faerieland and Shenkuu will be another game to watch - maybe Faerieland will surprise us all and sweep Shenkuu. And of course, the one game not to miss is Virtupets versus Krawk Island, about which one of the pirates said it could make their chances of winning a second cup. Hang on to your hats - tomorrow’s going to be a wild ride! This is Lydia for The Daily Neopets, signing off.

jonathanjoseph99
ya lets all try take FL at SS and win our first game of the seaseon. That would be too hard. Let's try that next time on a team that is bad on SS like Moltara. It would be hard to get it from FL. How about just playing safe and play the other games instead? If we concentrate on SS, FL might catch us off-guard in the other games and win it. Just an opinion though. You can do whatever you want. No ones stopping you. ^_^

antiaircraft
Not to be rude but why do almost all the top story topics about the Ninjas? o-o <_< because we're on a winning streak against strong teams ... especially Virtupets ... Correct. We're generally obliged to talk about noteworthy occurrences like this (although we do sometimes slip up a little). Additionally, Shenkuu got very little attention in most of our earlier reports. :)
Person335
This is exceptional. Honestly, didn't expect Moltara to erupt a few wins and draws (considering that I didn't get a chance to play my games of YYB, MSN, and SS). This is a good sign, yes it is! Now, to repeat the same thing with Meridell. That would be awesome, and I'm pretty confident it could happen.
voteforpedro333
Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow as Altador takes on the former champs - will they finally end their losing streak in Yooyuball? I chuckled at the ambiguity of who "they" is considering we've both done a lot more under par than we should be. Though I would like to ask exactly who "they" is meant to be to see which pitchfork I need to sharpen. Now, to repeat the same thing with Meridell. That would be awesome, and I'm pretty confident it could happen. You can take them, we've got them tired out! Seriously though, yesterday I said that we "never get draws on anything anymore" and now look what happens! A very much needed draw. I was pretty excited, considering that I keep predicting what happens the day before it happens (which usually ends up jinxing us) but now that I'm conscious of my power it might not work as well. Sweeep, sweeeeeep....
flurps
Well, TM now has the most sweeps of all the AC teams, and I couldn't be happier about my team's performance. ^_^ Yea! we're doing so much better than past years! I just hope we can get a 1st tier spot...
