I have my own guard now too! You don’t intimidate me! Lydia here, reporting live from the field as the matches wrap up for the day. As week two starts to wrap up, the standings start to settle and clear powerhouses have emerged. Sorry to say but Altador has yet to break its losing streak in yooyuball. Maraqua security guards chased me away from the field before I could ask any questions. I wonder why! [off camera] It’s not my fault! Yes it is. Anyway, a near sweep for Maraqua, losing only in Slushie Slinger. They’re doing well this year, currently placed third. Lamelle is doing well for the team, though our thoughts go out to Dorina Hals. Though the ghosts are only placed 9th currently, they held their own against Darigan Citadel, tying up Yooyuball and taking the three side games. Haunted Woods lost valuable points early in the tournament to small teams such as Shenkuu, Faerieland and Kiko Lake, and is trying to play catch up, rather unsuccessfully, despite the strong start. Virtupets, currently placed fourth, underestimated Mystery Island by quite a bit, only winning Yooyuball and Make Some Noise. Mystery Island was able to take Shootout Showdown and pull a draw in Slushie Slinger. May have to look for a slushie later, but I doubt I’ll find one. Kiko Lake versus Krawk Island was a shock, with Kiko Lake doing very well, taking Shootout Showdown and Make Some Noise, with a draw in Slushie Slinger. Yooyuball was close, but in the last second went to Krawk Island. This could have easily been the biggest upset of the tournament so far, but the former champs were able to prevent that. Moltara is doing as well as they were last year - in last place, with less than three points. Terror Mountain swept the hotheads under the rug, though Moltara may be able to pull out from 18th if Lost Desert continues to do as badly as they have been. Meridell finally slurped a losing slushie in today’s match against Brightvale, their neighbors. It was the first loss for the Knights in Slushie Slinger this tournament, but they took the rest of the games against the Wizards. Mmmm slushies. All the slushie slingers are staying away though ever since AA stole one. [off camera] Hey that’s not fair! Yes it is and you know it. I like slushies. In what would have been considered a huge upset last year, the Ninjas dominated the mummies in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise. Lost Desert did manage to take Slushie Slinger, but there was a draw for Shootout Showdown. The former champs are struggling to stay out of the bottom tier, perhaps they booted Lamelle a bit too early, a better defender would help against those 10-0 losses. There has been some whispering among fans that magic could be involved with the severity of the so called “Winner’s curse” that is affecting the Lost Desert this year. One Lost Desert fan, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that he saw a power-up move out of the way of a mummy and directly into the path of the opposing team. If these rumblings of discontent grow stronger, the Altador Council may be forced to shut down the games in order to resolve this. “That’s complete nonsense,” said an official, who said his name could not be attached to anything regarding this. “We have guards against that type of thing, and any player using magic would be thrown out - permanently. It’s nonsense, the Lost Desert is just a bunch of sore losers.” Tyrannia is currently placed second, and so its match against Faerieland should have held no surprises, though they did only draw in Slushie Slinger, having done some special training to prepare for the underdog’s ability in Slushie Slinger. The Faeries are currently out of the bottom tier, and hope to land in the top half of the fourth tier. Roo Island, currently placed 10th, held its own against Kreludor who is currently placed 1st, drawing in both Shootout Showdown and Yooyuball. Kreludor did win in both Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, but the draw in Yooyuball came as a shock for most - the whole field fell silent when the referee blew the whistle at a tie of 5-5. Even the yooyu uncurled to look at the score and gasped. In related news, there is nothing more adorable than a gasping yooyu. Not much surprising in the matches today, though Lost Desert verses Faerieland should prove interesting and set the scene for the rest of the tournament for both teams as they struggle to remain out of the bottom tier. The two powerhouses Tyrannia and Terror Mountain go head to head as well, and that will be a game to watch! We will continue to keep you informed as more information unfolds about Dorina Hals. This is Lydia, for The Daily Neopets, signing off.
Blurrz
It will be interesting to see which Top 8 team gets kicked out with HW getting back their bite. With Tyrannia awaiting them and 3 other games against the Bottom 9 teams, I see HW making it into the second tier if they continue their prowess, with 8-9 wins to their name after R1 ends. DC still has KD and MQ to deal with it, so it could be them if they slip up. Great effort by my Terrors after that shocking loss. Those results will keep us floating around. Going to be an epic match against Tyrannia today. So many friends on that team. Our two teams are so close too. May the best T win...

nikh
The rivalry of HW and DC from AC1 ends in favour of HW... HW is rising high this year... Today's match is against Kiko Lake and boy I do not notice the yooyus in the match rather than the Kikos. They are cute in the match. Cute enough to get some 13-0 matches! :D Go DC! Azeruth
I have a feeling our little 7 hour delay played a BIG role in the results. Which is pretty sad if it's true.

Person335
Okay, well this first round is not favoring us. But maybe it's a rough start... Yeah. That's it! Hey, don't count us out just yet! This thing's not even half over. We'll make a comeback, I promise you!
Sakabato
Kudos for Team Shenkuu defeating last year's winning team! Speaking of a winning team, we're facing Krawk Island today, so let's get busy and take down the pirates!

Hey, Altador is on the way down too ya know, and we've yet to play them (we also haven't played DC, which downright frightens me as much as it always has). Faerieland isn't getting off easy today either. We can still take a very big leap in the standings if we get our heads back in the game. Like now. Seriously. Lady Lyuba
I must say I am very proud to see how well Maraqua is doing! Could this be the year we Mermaids take the cup? Reassuring news since I don't have the time to play the games much.
