If there wasn't a staff member on it 24/7, there was some agruement or other such thing that went completely missed, and it wasn't hooked up to the report system either. I'm not even sure this version if IP.Board supports shoutboxes. Feel free to dicuss the merits of one and if you'd like to see it or not, but, ah, not gonna happen. Sorry guys. Quote

Additionally, thanks to the additional moderation resources that had to be expended trying to regulate the shoutbox, and the amount of time most members spent there instead of checking the rest of the forum, in conjunction with time zone issues the moderation team had, spam bots ended up having pretty much free reign on the forums during some hours. The result was that on many days in the shoutbox era, much of the forum was turned into an inactive, pornography-infested mess. Quote

Besides, this way, it gives people a chance to write logical, well thought-out posts while remaining relevant on different topics. Any live shoutbox on any site I've ever been to is usually an ADD, troll infested, sorry excuse for a discussion. Quote

Plus, it reduced the quality of some posts in the forum since the rules for the shoutbox were sort of different, making people think it was okay to just post something like ":P". So I vote no. Quote
