Shane for Wax
I decided to give yooyuball another go and when I finished my touchpad would not respond and still doesn't. I'm using a Toshiba L655D on Windows 7.
Angeló
oh!!!!! I'ms so sorry ... but YYB is not played by the mouse/touchpad ; it's played by the arrows now. .... did you try re-installing the driver for it ???
Shane for Wax
I know it's played with arrow keys. I only used the pad to select my side and such like that. It's just the last thing I did before the touchpad stopped responding. I checked the drivers and there's no update and it says that it's working fine when it isn't. There's no response from it at all. I'm not sure I want to deal with uninstalling then reinstalling just yet. But it's my next step unless I can figure out if there's something else I have to do. Something in the hardware conked out or SOMETHING. I don't know. I deal with 'net issues, not mouse.
antiaircraft
Reinstalling the driver is definitely a good troubleshooting step to take. In fact, you might also want to try getting the latest version of the driver from the Toshiba website (which may or may not be newer than the one you have installed currently). Note that you should probably double check your operating system (32 vs. 64 bit) and laptop model (there are a lot of variants of the Toshiba Satellite L655D) before installing though. If installing an updated version of the touchpad's driver and restarting your computer doesn't help to fix things, I'd recommend taking it to a computer shop for a check. Touchpads usually aren't too robust, and can get a bit, ah, touchy with time. In fact, I'd especially recommend getting it checked if it seems to come back on randomly without you doing anything, as if that happens the chances are it'll go off again without warning too. Shane for Wax
I already checked for updates and it said it was fully updated already. (touchpad drivers) :( It just kinda conked out. I got some sort of warning while I was playing yooyuball that looked like some sort of warning there was too much pressure on the pad but I wasn't even touching it. It's 64-bit windows 7. L655D-S5102 is the full model 'number'. I'm actually kinda happy with the setup I have now with my USB mouse but I also know I can't take it with me all the time so getting the touchpad working again would be the tops. antiaircraft
Hmm... what utility did you use to check for updates? I'm fairly certain most built in utilities don't get all the latest Synaptics stuff... That said, this is looking more and more like a hardware issue. :(
Shane for Wax
I just used the inherent one under the device properties in device manager. I had Windows look for an update to the driver. It's driver version 15.0.8.1 and was last updated 3/10/2010 (American, not European dating) EDIT: Looking at the Synaptics site (Synaptics.com) it seems the newest driver version is v15.2.20 But the Toshiba site says that the driver is up to date. So I don't know which I should do. If I should download from synaptics or what... :S
antiaircraft
Probably best to stick with the Toshiba driver. It does seem like you have a hardware problem at this point though. :(
Shane for Wax
Yeah. Luckily my computer is still under warranty. I just have to get the nerve to call about it. Then I'll be laptopless for a while. :(
antiaircraft
Okay - just one more thing to check before I'm out of ideas though: does your laptop have a touchpad on/off button or key combination? I know some Acer laptops have Fn + F7 or something like that to turn the touchpad on and off.
Shane for Wax
I... I'm not sure. I... it might? I'll check the manual... EDIT: YES! It worked! I totally forgot about there being an on/off switch for the touchpad! Thanks AA! I feel like an idiot now! I dunno when I hit it but I must have. Or something of the sort. I had to hit Fn+F9. antiaircraft
Meh. I blame Yooyuball. :P TNT's done an amazing job if they managed to create a game which prompts you to accidentally hit such an... interesting key combination. xD
Shane for Wax
Or my keyboard spazzed cause I was hitting WASD like a crazy person. :P Either way, problem fixed. Can lock if need be.
