RoboHissi Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 So I tried a practice Yooyuball match, and couldn't get my character to move. Apparently, now you have to use the arrow keys to move around, and use space to shoot. I liked the old way, this is taking me a while to get used to. <_<

RoboHissi Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 You used to use a mouse, so you'd roll over the character to select them, click to shoot, and then to move, the selected character would just run straight at your mouse. It was way easier than this, trust me. I still managed an 8-1 win on my first play though, but I used to be able to easily get 10+ goals in the old system. I just wish they'd give us the option of the old way.

lola_vogue Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I agree, really don't like the new controls, much prefered the old ones...I think I lost the first game 10-0, because I couldn't figure out how to move the players!! I think with the new controls its far more difficult to aim at the goal and to control the goalkeeper :( What does everyone else think? Do you prefer the old or new controls?

xpinksugarxprincessx Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I am spending an unfortunate amount of time button-mashing my arrow keys. The player switching is really annoying. I can get quite a few goals until the other team takes the ball because then my players run around randomly while I'm just trying to figure out who I'm controlling. I really don't like it and wish they would go back to the old system.

Lydia Trebond Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 As far as I can tell, the game automatically switches to whoever is closest to the yooyu, which means if you have someone guarding the opposition while he's trying to score, you don't get to control the goalie until it's over halfway to the goal. :grrr:

Masaryk Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Sorry to say this, but I really like the new Yooyuball! I have loathed and dreaded AC for 5 years because I could never figure out how to play YYB. I finally have a chance of being good at it. I still don't love YYB, but at least I no longer dread it.

I dunno, I just don't have great mouse control I guess? I was terrible at the old version, but I've won every single practice game I've played so far. now I'm off to try the side games =)

I scored! but I have now idea how I managed to do that XD I like the new controls though since I play on a laptop and using the arrow keys instead of the track pad will always be a plus :P

livvy Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 No, the game is programmed with auto-select. Your goalie will only be highlighted when he/she is the closest player to the Yooyu. You can keep players mostly in their place by holding down the shift key, but they will still respond when the Yooyu is nearby. Your best bet for a good defense is a very good offense. Keep the ball in their net and they can't get it in yours.

XD I actually laughed so much when I stole it from the goalie and then shot it into the net! I won 9-1!! Although apparently the other team can do it to me as well, but it doesn't happen that often.
livvy Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Either it's a glitch they'll fix (hopefully not) or they're just allowing us to be particularly brutal players. :P It seems a bit unfair, but if the other team can do it to us, I suppose it's not a user-glitch.
