Anyone else joined this week's random contest :D?

Deadline is tomorrow and I just finish submitting my entry (first time).

Hoping for an avatar~

(submitted a lower quality image to the contest since it had to be under 80kb)

 

I actually needed a jewelry box so I decided to make one with the leftover wood I had lying around xD

And of course it had to be Maraqua theme~

Maybe Shenkuu theme next time I join the Random Contest.

I had fun making it and good thing I had some wood lying around.

Was about to decorate a notebook if I didn't have any materials. But I am a pack rat lol

Here was the description I typed~

 

Materials for Box:

-1 large piece of plywood (12in width, 6in height, 0.5in thick)

-Wood Glue

-Air pressured nail gun

-Electrical saw (don't forget your saftey glasses!)

-Ruler

-Sand paper (coarse and fine)

 

Materials for Design:

-Arcylic paints (Metallic Silver, Blue, White, Black)

-Metallic Gold spray paint

-Wood Varnish

-Spray on adhesive

-Images from Neopets

 

Steps:

1. Took the plywood measured out pieces and cut them with the saw.

2. Glued the pieces together and used a nail gun to insure the box will not come apart.

3. Sanded down the box until it was nice and smooth (:

4. Painted the box white, waited until it dried, then painted it over with a dark ocean blue paint (combined silver, black and blue).

5. Used the sand paper over the dried paint and made the box look old and distressed. Scrapped off a bit of the blue paint so the white paint will show.

6. Sprayed over with a bit of metallic gold paint

7. Cut out images and glued on using the adhesive.

8. Waited for everything to dry before varnishing it~

 

I dedicated the box in memory of "The Curse of Maraqua" plot. The box is 2 1/2 inches high and 5 inches wide. It is great for storing jewelry, little treasures and hiding Neocash cards from the evil Meepits ;)

Does anyone know if the 80kb file limit applies to the Random Contest entries?

I look back at past winners and saw a lot of them were over 80kb.

I wish I knew so I could have submitted a high quality picture instead of a 77kb one >.<;

Airiya, I only entered the Random Contest once, over 4 years ago. I think the rules have changed since then. According to the rules linked from the RC page, the image should be no more than 50k. But as long as they let you upload it, I think it should be okay. Is it too late to try attaching a higher-res pic?

 

My submission was an audio file. I remember it being too big, and I had to search on the internet to figure out how to reduce it to upload it, but it ended up sounding fine in the end.
