Syrin of Neopia
So I am a fan of Conan O'Brien (late night talk show host/comedian) & was thrilled to see that I could go on his website & have a chance to reserve tickets to see his show. I figured it was a long-shot, but I picked a date & entered anyway. Come to find out today that I did win tickets to see a taping of his show, May 25th, but since accommodations & airfare is not included, it would be too expensive to go. (I live in Illinois & his show tapes in Los Angeles, Callifornia, so airfare is very expensive) I tried to convince my husband that we could swing it as we haven't yet gone on a honeymoon & this could be an excuse to do so, but what it boils down to is we just can't afford it, with either time or money. I'm very upset, but I don't know if I should be. I was the one who entered online to try & reserve (free) tickets, so why am I so upset that I got them & had to turn them down? Naamah D.
I know how ya feel. My favorite band did a concert just over the border of my state(I live in New Hampshire and the concert was in Massachusetts) but guess what...it was a school night and I had a Math test the next day(in the morning to be exact). I think you have every right to be upset because I was super upset about this concert.
selusa
Personally, I have a hard time turning down anything that's free, even if it's something stupid like a bag of decade-old candy. Perhaps it's because my dad is an accountant. But anyway, the fact that you won free tickets to Coco is amazing, and I know how awful I'd feel if I had to turn down such a cool prize. It's so upsetting because there's a huge, tantalizing "What If" hanging out there now, and you're not going to get to experience it like you thought you would. As my husband was quick to point out, it's not "free" since we have to pay airfare, etc, but I agree with you. If I discover Johnny Depp or one of my other "must meet before I die" celebrities is booked for that night, I am going to move from upset to super-angry & depressed :grrr:
Cornflakes
aw :( Too bad you can't raise the money or something. Put big money jars out at stores with a sign that says the money is for "homeless puppies" or something. Shoot, I'd be eBaying those things. Get you some bonus summer money. :) I'm sorry you can't go. Forgive my poor attempts at trying to cheer you up.

Oh trust me, I'd sell if they weren't marked "non-transferable" I'm now trying to see it as my not-going is an opportunity for someone else to go. (It's not really making me feel better, but it's helping a little)
