Going to a new school...

After 18 years of living with HFA(High Functioning Autism), I'm finally going to a school that specializes in my needs. My old school was a nightmare. Girls in the class were all "Yo, yo, yo, hood!!!!!", I picked up on their behaviour and started wanting to be like them. That damaged my self esteem quite a bit. So my parents pulled me out of school and said that enoughs enough. Not to mention teachers and staff would constantly point out my "flaws"(which aren't even flaws). Such as

Me: I love my Neopets...they're like my only friends right now.

Teacher: I don't understand how anybody could love a pixel like you do.

Or

Teacher:How the heck do you find them friendly and not the girls in the class?

First off, the girls in my class were very hateful to me. They'd swear at me, call me names, and basically taunt me. Because of my medication, I gain weight. There was one teacher who called my "Blubber" nonstop. Basically, I'm glad to be out of there and am starting fresh at a new school. The teachers will most likley understand that Neopets is my special intrest. I want a tattoo of Fyora for crying out loud!

Please, don't think I'm whining. I just wanted you guys to know in case I DO make a social mistake.

Thank you,

-Star

I'm so happy for you :)

Going to a new school, That specializes in your needs and all.

I also Have HFA, and I understand what it feels like sometimes.

Although, My experiences so far haven't been nearly as Bad as yours are!

I could never imagine what it would be like to be treated in such a Hateful way :(

Although... I have had similar experiences with Girls being Hateful :(

From what I've noticed It's usually only the girls that treat me badly.

Boys, are generally more Accepting. Which is actually why basically every friend I have ever had, was male :O

I hope you like the new school. My friend has a boy with autism, so I took it upon myself to learn a little about it. I'm not too familiar with it, but I know that he's the smartest boy I know, and he's just like any other kid--just fine if you know him. If they can't appreciate you for your good qualities, and overlook the ones that don't matter, they're probably not worth being around anyway.

People can be stupid and mean but arggh to them I say. I actually didn't think you were whining at all, the opposite in fact. It seems like you aren't really holding a grudge against those people but looking forward to a brighter future. Hope you enjoy your new school and best of luck ^_^

I hope the new school is a good fit for you. I'm fairly neuroatypical, with a bit of a laundry list of neurological and psychological disorders (which I'm quite open about, feel free to ask), and I know what it's like when traditional public schooling doesn't work for you. In fifth grade I started homeschooling/unschooling, and never looked back. I'm in college now, which is a totally different animal, although I still have some difficulties to work through.
