What is the best way to get the Lab Map?

Or on a related topic - how did you, personally, come to have your Lab Map? Did you just find pieces laying around Neopia, or purchase them? I have decided it's time I get myself one!

I have two. Both of them I started by playing key quest/random events. I filled in the other pieces by buying them off of the trading post. If you aren't a huge key quest person I would say just buying each piece individually. You normally save np going that way.

I bought a complete set off of the Trading Post. I can't play KQ and never got the random events, so that was easiest for me.

I got my lab map from extensive TP research and playing lots of KQ. I only got 1 or 2 from REs and those were the cheap ones. I didnt buy a full set because those are generally WAY overpriced compared to buying them each alone. I suggest that you play a lot of Key Quest because occassionally you get pieces from there! I have one that I recently won up on the trading post. ;)

I bought mine every piece separately from user shops and the trading post. That was back in the days when the lab map was around 800k.

Key Quest! I got all but three pieces from there. One I found in the a user shop for 10K, but it was really worth over 130K.

The other two, I bought off of Meghan <3

 

Key Quest made me save over almost half the cost, though.

I purchased all of my lap pieces YEARS ago when it only cost me 100k or so to get the pieces.. maybe a little more than that. Provided I had also found several pieces and traded them with others that had pieces I was missing and vice versa.

 

It's so expensive now, I wouldn't even know where to start to get it at this point.

Thanks for all the feedback! I ended up playing a bunch of KeyQuest today. No map pieces - but I did get a bunch of codestones and neggs, so not a waste of time! And I ended up purchasing 3 map pieces from some user shops.

The two most expensive ones are somewhere above 200K (I looked up JN's item database, but it might not be up-to-date), I have one of them but have had no success selling it.

 

I got mine years ago, ironically after I got the map I kept getting random events offering me pieces of the map...

I got mine from random events and buying separate pieces on the TP. I've heard both that it's cheaper to buy them as a set on the TP and to buy them separately, so it just depends.

I think the sites shown are like exactly the same but thanks a lot for both of them! I personally prefer buying them seperatly. I feel that if I have over 200K in my account I HAVE to spend it on SOMETHING and that usually ends up pretty bad goal wise -_- :P

Well this makes me feel really, really old.

 

I had two full sets of maps, one on an original account which was frozen because I was being an ignorant kid who did not read the ToS, and another one on my account right now. The first set of maps cost me about 3k a piece, and the second set was 8~10k. I thought that was so ridiculously expensive when I bought them again. Now I just keep finding map pieces in random events and sell them.

And I've noticed a huge increase on the number of people with lab pieces o.0 Why is that? And also, is there a way to search up a specific piece on the trading post? All my search does is look for the lots containing the first piece and I already have that one o.0

Sometimes if you lurk the shop wizard or if you get lucky you can find them SO cheap. Some people, I'm guessing either total noobs or people like me who took such a long hiatus we didn't realize the inflation, will put up pieces in their shops

yeah. Once I saw the 6th piace for 99,999 but by the time I managed to take the money out of my bank it was sold -_- Another reason as to why you carry money with you at all times :P

I would recommend either buying the separately or buying a whole set. Don't play KeyQuest, because that'll take too long and you might not even get them.

 

Buying them separately will generally be cheaper, but it'll take longer.

 

On the other hand, buying the whole set at once makes it a lot easier, but might cost a bit more.

 

Personally, I just bought the whole set at once. It was easy and saved me a ton of frustration.

My first set was put together after I purchased pieces individually from the Trading Post. One of my neofriend gave me a discount price too :)

For the second set, I had already some pieces from random events or from Key Quest so I just had to buy the missing ones.

 

Now if I find more pieces, I either sell them right away or stock them into my SDB. They make nice Christmas gifts to friends ;)

I need more friends :P And I find it a lot cheaper to buy them seperatly and the time factor cancels out since it takes just as long to get the money in both ways anyways.

I did get 1 or 2 from random events, but that hardly did any good. I can't play KQ either because my laptop is told old to handle it D; ... i had to play stuff like imperial exam, meerca chase, fashion fever, adver video ... etc until I had enough to buy the whole set from one person :/

I've only ever gotten a codestone from random events so I can scratch those off my list -_- I still need 3. My game line up is: Kookia, Crisis Courier, Nova defender, attack of the marblemen, castle of eliv thade, magax defender II, mootix, fashion fever and adver video.....I can get about 30K np a day with this line up alone. The GMC is actually helping since I play more games which means I get more np :P

I got all of mine separately, buying them off of the Auction House usually. My grandma was also playing and wanted to help me while she sought to get hers too, so I got a few free ;)

 

But of course this was on a completely separate account, that I do not play on anymore :whistle:

I can't do auctions. My connections either not fast enough or I just have terrible luck :P The problem is I don't know the exact minute that the auction ends and there's always SOMEONE with better timing than me -_-
