The Burning Empire

It is year 18 in Neopia. The planet has been taken over. Not by Dr. Sloth or the Meepits, but by one Neopet. He goes by the name of Zan and he is a fire Xweetok with a short temper and a bad attitude.

In year 14 he discovered he had a special ability that other pets, not even other fire pets, have. He can create and manipulate fire at will.

In year 17 he used mastered his gift, he considers it a curse, and took over Neopia with ease. Not even the strongest warrior could could beat him.

Now he resides in his palace, once the great city of Altador. No one defies his will, except the resistance. The resistance is Neopia's last hope for freedom, but only a few pets remain in the resistance to fight another day.

You are part of the resistance, to fight the threat that can burn anyone alive. But Zan is still mortal, he can be stopped. Will you help?

Resistance HQ, small Neohome in the remains of Neopia Central:

"We have to stop him, one way or another. If you wish to help, stand up and say your name." said a two headed Hissi speaking to a small groups of pets.

A thin, Maraquan Gelert slowly rose and held her tail up. "My name is Marseba. I am one of the few left in my once lively underwater city. All the others came out of their safe havens in the water and went against Zan, yet failed. I will do all I can to avenge my people." She quietly sat back down.

Falvair watched. His father, Robasia, was also in the audience. The blue Eyrie rose and cleared his thraot. "I know exactly what hard times are. My father and I were forced out of our home. When we left to find a safe underground haven, my mother dissappeared. I believe Zan has her and is using her as bait for my father, who faught Jhudora."

((I love the dramatic replay, penguin! :D))

Marseba sat quietly, listening to the stories of the other pets. All were depressing. It was obvious to Marseba that she had to help stop Zan. All those people, she mourned. They all risked their lives to try to save us. And Zan took away their lives. I won't let this happen any further. A fiery inspiration began to build up within Marseba.

((Yes!))

Robasia sat and watched Falvair. He had been 18 when he fought Jhudora and was now 30. He stood up and began to speak. "When I fought Jhudora, she was the only threat, besides the things she controlled. Zan is worse. He has control over the unstoppable. We, I can't remember. But this will need combined effort." Robasia sat down and wiped the sweat off his forhead.

But so did Falvair. "There's four of us! One of us fought Jhudora! Hand to hand, right dad?" Robasia nodded and smiled. "We should..." Falvair sat down, then shot back up. I don't know. "Figure out Zan's weekness." Robasia looked up. "Sit Fal. I know exactly what we should do. Figure out what we should do. But that's what we're doing, so anyone have any suggestions? And yes, we don't have enough people, and we can't advertise it. But I have an idea. Tell everyone you know about the movement. And to make sure they don't double cross you, I have this." Robasia took out a potion. "This will let you know if the next five people you touch are on our side or not."

A quiet, young Techo stood up from the back of the room. "I... don't have much to say. Not much of a history either..." he said as he stared at the ground. "I've been roaming all around Neopia as long as I can remember. I have to try and survive everyday. Oh, my name is Trek..."

A brown Xweetok stood and shouted, "My name is Levy and I hate Zan so much! He ravaged my my town and killed many of my best friends. I will kill him myself if I get the chance! I won't let you down."

"Ok, any plan of action? I have made a rough drawing of his palace, but that won't be the biggest obsticle." said the Hissi pullling out a small map.

"If we can find a way to go through the mountains, we can stay out of sight from his aereal scouts." said Levy.

The more Trek thought about Zan, the angrier he got. He shot a glance at the Hissi and spoke up. "I've been traveling around Neopia for a long time and I am quite familiar with the mountains around here also. I... I'm sure I could figure out something..." Trek said as he retreated back down into his seat.

The hissi's other head, which has remained silent since the beginning, shouted, "You have no idea, you have no idea what he is capable of."

The head, unlike the other haed, was covered in scars, scratches, burns.

"Everyday he grows stronger as he perfects his gift, which he has used to curse the world to ash. I was a member of the last resistance attempt, I WAS LUCKY TO COME BACK ALIVE! Gax, Bolemn, Halria, there all GONE!" he was clearly traumatised, "He was beginning to control lava, WE NEVER STOOD A CHANCE!"

He began to cry.

"I meant potion manufacturing facilities, I used to work at one before all this happened." said the hissi's right head, while the left one was still sobbing over lost friends and horrifing memories.

"He built it where Altador once was. I can take you all to the secret tunnel entrance into the mountains to avoid detection, but I will not go any further. Too many memories best left forgotten." said the hissi's right head.

"HALRIA!" shouted the left head still crying.

"Then we must hurry and prepare ourselves. The longer we linger around, the faster Zan will know about us. At this rate, we cannot afford such consequences." Marseba looked at all of the pets in the room. "What is our defensive plan?"

"I say we round up as many other fire pets as we can to stand as some sort of shield." Tanori licked her claws "Then we sneak up behind him while he's distracted and gut him."

Criss, a maraquan Aisha, was staying out of this. Being as Zan's twin, she would not get involved. They wouldn't want her. No one does. She had quite a backround herself. She grew up controlling water instead of fire. They were supposed to rule the world in harmony. Not pain. When Zan went crazy, she tried to stop him, but something was wrong. He wasn't himself. She ran away in refuge. She had tried to find the culprit. Clues led her to Morguss, but that was it. Whatever...maybe they won't notice me...

Levy glared at Tanori furiously, "We don't need to sacrifice others, enough have died by his hand already. We need to stay low around the perimeter. Then when we find a weak spot we can sneak in. I dunno what we will face when we get there, since he was begginging to control lava, he would probably use it to increase his defenses."

The Hissi was leaving the room, his right head said, "I wish you all good luck, I will be outside. Come to me and I will bring you to the tunnel through the mountains." he trailed off, leaving the others to argue a strategy.

"Where whatsisface could pour lava over us. Smart move. I like to think of war as a game of chess. You wouldnt send your king in front of a queen, which is exactly what he's doing by putting us in that ridiculous position. Ignore him."

Criss noticed them walking away, to the tunnel. She knew they wouldn't last a minute after they got into the tunnels. After the town was out of sight, Criss formed a water dome around them. "You guys are already sacrificing yourselves. You need to know his weaknesses. And where he gets his power."

"And where might that be? Most likely some remote rock in the middle of nowhere."

"Rock? No. Middle of nowhere? Yes. Have any of you read books about the ancient times of Meridell? One person was never found. Morguss."
