Well, the dust has settled on the 14th of June, day two of the Altador Cup's second round, and it seems that our contestants from all over Neopia are getting into full swing. Before we get started, let's go over to one Cup analyst who's been kind enough to offer us some opinions.

"Whoot! I finally hit 7.5 million NP! Oh, what? Erm... I have no opinions at this current point in time other than disappointment over the Shenkuu match against LD."

Ah, right. Thank you ma'am.

Well, as I mentioned just now, some of the tournament's contenders (specifically those who didn't quite live up to expectations in round one) are starting to get back into gear. The Kreludor Moons, for example, left Darigan Citadel supporters in shock with unexpected wins in Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown, drawing Slushie Slinger and only losing Make Some Noise. Taking the Citadel's ferocious round one play into account, it looks like Team Kreludor has finally turned the tables on their opponents in their classic assassin team style, a unique strategy the Moons have developed that combines the element of surprise with an array of subtle, confusing Yooyuball patterns which nobody can quite seem to remember.

In an unrelated incident, the Defenders of Neopia are investigating the mysterious disappearances of several prominent Darigan Citadel supporters that occurred throughout the day.

The ex-champions from Krawk Island sailed their way to a clean sweep over Team Moltara yesterday. Such an outcome would have been perfectly normal not too long ago, but the Moltaran Magmas have managed to give off a few glimmers of their true flame in recent matches, so many analysts were expecting one or two draws at the least. Nevertheless, Moltaran team captain Aldric Beign remained confident that the day's results were just a slight blip on the radar, and that his team had more than a few days of solid gameplay still left in them.

We're also getting reports that a band of pirates from Krawk Island, being unable to successfully locate all the glow worms they needed, actually raided Moltara's main worm store instead. Fortunately the facility wasn't heavily guarded in any way, and there was only some minor collateral damage (and a lot of very happy worms).

In another clean sweep, Team Meridell rolled back into siege mode (also known as 'The Knights' Charge', 'Hammertime', and by many other names) with victories in all games against Team Faerieland, allowing them to edge ahead of their arch rivals from the Darigan Citadel. This appears to have been at least partially due to an interesting chain of events: following their victory in Yooyuball, a group of jubilant Meridell supporters began celebrating by haphazardly firing off some trebuchets they happened to have with them. Unfortunately, a number of the stray projectiles they launched reached as far as the Faerieland Poogle Racing track and Cloud Racing zone, causing Faerieland's authorities to call off a flight of Faerieland supporters who had been spending the break day at home, and were heading out to reinforce their team over in Altador. Without the reinforcements, Faerieland was at a severe disadvantage in the side games, but at least nobody was injured in the incident. The trebuchets have since been confiscated by Altador Cup officials.

Team Altador also got hit hard with yet another sweep for the day, losing across the board to the Virtupets Robots. It seems the Robots might still have their sights set on tier one after all, but they have a lot of tough competition they'll have to pass to get there.

One of these competitors is Team Roo Island, which has a well-consolidated fifth place ranking on the leaderboard after yesterday's near-complete victory over the Haunted Woods. The Zombies weren't completely outdone however, as they still managed to glide ahead in Slushie Slinger.

Brightvale fended off a sweep by the Maraquan Mermaids in a similar fashion yesterday, winning Slushie Slinger despite losses in all the other games. In spite of their victory, the Maraquans are still lagging behind most other group one contenders in sixth place, but we'll almost certainly see at least a little action from Elon Hughlis' squad as they fight to regain the points they lost in the last two matches.

The indomitable Kikos were another team that narrowly deflected a sweep by winning Slushie Slinger in their match against Mystery Island. The Natives still got plenty of points from victories in the other games however, and it looks like they may not be staying in group three for long.

It was an even closer affair for the Shenkuu Ninjas, who escaped a sweep by the edge of their arm guards after the Desert Marauders raked in all the side games. It took a terrific effort from Mirsha Grelinek and her team to even out the score in Yooyuball - that match ended in a draw with only seconds left on the clock.

A spokesman for Team Lost Desert (formerly known as the Mummies) had this to say concerning his team's name change and field performance:

"Actually, it was the decision of one of our new sponsors. They wanted a more fierce sounding name for us. It's all about promotion, but I still believe that in the end they will all call us by one name: CHAMPIONS!"

Supporters of Team Shenkuu were rather more disappointed over the outcome of the match, but many still have high hopes for some excellent results in the coming round.

Elsewhere, the second epic clash of this season's side gaming teams drew to a close with the Fossils ever so slightly in the lead. Teams Tyrannia and Terror Mountain were unable to outdo each other on the Yooyuball field, but the Tyrannians ran away with the match when it came to Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise. The Chillers, dedicated Shootout Showdown experts as always, lengthened their perfect streak to an incredible 19-0-0.

As for today's matches to watch, there is of course the classic battle between the Lost Desert Marauders and the resident assassin team, Kreludor. This may or may not be a prelude to the tournament finals, but it still promises plenty of epic action. And as far as epic action goes, Teams Meridell and Maraqua will be facing off as well. The Knights (second on the charts) are fired up and ready for a full siege mode assault, but if the Maraquans can bounce back and hit them where it counts - well, they certainly surprised us last year, didn't they?

At least one thing's for sure: the time for tough talk and planning is over. We're well and truly into round two, and it's the performance of teams on the field right here and now that will be the deciding factor when it comes to their final groupings.

Incidentally, does anybody have any opinions on New Zealand versus Slovakia? No? Well, never mind then.

Good luck people! This is AA, reporting from Altador, signing off.

Recently, I've been playing 5 games of SS, SOSD, and MSN every day, to get the NP. Then I spend the rest of the time playing as many games of YYB as I can.

I hit level 8 yesterday. Now I have to win 100 games of YYB to get to rank 9.

Man, I was worried when I went to go look at the ranking page. Then I got even more worried when I saw Kreludor as our opponent! Geez, just give all of the hard teams in a row, why don't ya! TNT is keeping LD on their toes big time, but it's a good thing.

Also, good luck to Maraqua and Meridell! That's a match I'm gonna be watching.

I'm proud of the draw

united we see victory, or united we fall to being a 2nd/3rd tire team, I won't care which one happens, as long as we fight our hardest and as a team, I am happy with the results
