I'm reporting from the Colosseum after another full day of Altador Cup matches, and things are definitely looking interesting on the slow-starting team front. That's right, the match between Teams Maraqua and Shenkuu was a sight to behold, and one many observers probably regret missing. The Ninjas and the Mermaids played a tight, no-holds-barred match, and their results in Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Make Some Noise were too close to call. In the end, it was the unimposing Shootout Showdown that decided the match in the favour of the Maraquans. A group of reporters managed to catch Maraquan team captain Elon Hughlis as he was leaving the match, and asked him for his remarks on the outcome. He was momentarily heard shouting, "GOALS! I need more goals!" before being hauled off firmly by teammate Dorina Hals.

Faerieland and Moltara, this season's bottom-table contenders, fared poorly yesterday, suffering across-the-board sweeps from Teams Kreludor and Krawk Island respectively. Both Kakoni Worrill and Aldric Beign declined to comment on the matter, although it was strongly implied that the team captains would be focusing on relentless on-field training of their squads to stage a recovery.

There was a lot of disappointment among fans of the Lost Desert Mummies today, making it clear that they had expected far better results from their match against the Tyrannians. While the Mummies continued their Yooyuball streak into its sixth win, the Fossils, ever the tenacious side gamers, scored victories across the rest of the board, maintaining yet another day of their almost lossless side game record.

The teams from Kiko Lake and Roo Island had to endure quite a pounding in their match-ups. Darigan Citadel pummelled the Roos with a near-sweep that was only broken by Roo Island's tenacious Shootout Showdown play, where the two teams drew even. The Kiko Lakers suffered a similar defeat at the hands of the Mystery Island Natives, except that they managed to steal away with a narrow Shootout victory. Kiko Lake team captain "Poke" Cellers made no speech of any sort upon the release of the results, but he still managed to make a clear statement to his team and their supporters - by the time the reporters arrived on scene, he was already finalising preparations for today's match against Team Lost Desert.

Team Virtupets faced strong opposition from the Haunted Woods in their game - while the Robots won the match with wins in Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown, the Zombies equalised more than a little with draws in the other two games, breaking Virtupets' spectacular Yooyuball streak in the process. With the Robots slightly behind, the Desert Marauders are now this season's Yooyuball leaders, although that position probably won't go uncontested for long.

The neighbouring kingdoms of Brightvale and Meridell both managed victories today, although the Chillers maintained their Shootout Showdown streak with a win over the Wizards, while the Knights were out-slung by Team Altador at the slushie stands. Make Some Noise was drawn in both matches, while the Knights and Wizards won the decisive Yooyuball battles.

There's certainly an interesting match or two in today's line-up as well. For one, Team Faerieland will face the Moltaran Magmas - the two squads are precariously close to finding themselves trapped firmly in the bottom tier, and gravely need the points from this match to boost them up the leaderboard. The Pirates will also be taking on the Citadel, a bout where both contenders (seated right next to each other on the leaderboard) will be hoping to push just a little closer to the coveted top four. Meanwhile, the Mermaids will be up against Team Virtupets. The current results seem to indicate that the Robots will have an easy time in this match - the Maraquans will have to push hard if they want to prove themselves, but it should be noted that pushing hard is something the Mermaids are very good at.

Whatever the results may be, the early warm-up phase of the tournament is now drawing to a close, and the decisive central matches of the season are fast approaching. Sooner or later, teams will have to pick up their game, or risk losing sight of the Cup for another year. So, good luck to you all, and remember to have some fun while you're at it! This is AA, reporting from Altador, signing off.

Oh, i'm so happy about the results against RI! ^^

And tomorrow should hold some interestin match-ups.

I'm kinda nervous about KI though. This will decide alot, not just who increases in standings. We're both the currently dominating teams that have won before and it will really show who has the drive to succeed this year...

A decisive match indeed then - good luck there!

Hopefully the Mermaids will push all the way through for a Win/Draw over Virtupets!

Now, Maraqua needs to turn that hope into results! :D

Very nice report  Hopefully the Mermaids will push all the way through for a Win/Draw over Virtupets!

Now, Maraqua needs to turn that hope into results! :D

Considering that the Mermaids are not yet on their "Piranha Mode", we can still hope a sudden push from them.

Oh Shenkuu, I guess that the early start of the tournament prevented your supporters from playing.. :(

Now I wish I had done more than 315 games of SOSD. But I thought Yooyuball would be where we needed the most support so I put most of my time into that. Stupid move.

Well, I'm really looking forward to today's match! We might have been at the bottom of the list, but this day could change that.

If we win all 4 games, them maybe we have a chance at escaping the black hole named "18th Place" and jump to a more suitable ranking (maybe even more).

Oh yeahhhh, this is going to be awesome! :D

Put it this way: better to draw Yooyuball and lose SoSD than the other way round. :)

Well done to Tyrannia! I was rather surprised at quite how thoroughly we were trashed (I'd hoped for at least one win in the mini games!), but very well done!!!!

We really are the Side Gamers! I never though we would get those results against LD!

Are you kidding? I looked back as the old results, and LD hasn't been able to sweep Tyrannia in the last two AC's, and we've never won Slushie Slinger against you guys. We just haven't learned, have we? :P Now, we're best to be on our toes, I'm getting worried about our side games.

The Kikos should use this to their advantage, since we're worried about our side games this might leave us open in YYB...

And congrats to the Mermaids and Ninjas! I don't think I've ever seen such two closely matched teams.

I felt so sad when I found out that RI lost to DC with 3 losses and 1 draw. Hope that we could stand a chance againts Brightvale. Maybe I should work hard on Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noice. I wonder if I should continue playing Altador Cup because I'm having exam.

Yooyuball:91 Slushie Slinger:11 Make Some Noice:33 Shootout Showdown:250

technically SK v MQ was a draw.

4 draws and one win for MQ, that's still a draw

I thought 3 draws and a win equal a close but certain win....was I wrong.

If so, well, at least we still unofficially "better" (wait til next time).

Yes, it's a definitive, unquestionable win. Narrow, yes, but there's no way you could mistake it for a draw.
