Noog Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Electric/flying is GENIUS. It takes away electric's only weakness and I don't think that it ruins any resistances. *thinks* Oh yeah, Zapdos. But anyways, that flying squirrel just looks like pachirisu got redesigned as a flying type. It's going to have to have pretty great stats in order to convince me to get one. I don't usually pick pokemon that I don't like because they have nice stats. In other news, probably getting that rock one :D The grass caterpillar also looks epic :D The pre-evolution (suspected) of the monkey makes NO SENSE. Let's see, the water starter, the rock, the grass caterpillar, the eagle, the crocodile, the sarcophogus, and the mole. there goes a team :P Quote
Tyler. Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I think it will be a Pachirisu evolution Pokabu, Munna, Meguroko, Emonga are for sure I want them to havea new fighting type and a water type besides the starter, then I'll add those, Kibago if there is a water/fighting like poliwrath (which would be great) Quote
Noog Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I think that they need to do what they did in 4th gen, how the triangle of starters would flow either way by the time they all got their second types. Like Water/Fighting, Grass/dark, and Fire/Psychic. That would be AWESOME. Of course, if they do that, that means that we'll have yet another psychic pig. Quote
Anime Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Actually Pokabu looks part Dark, so it'd be fire/dark, water/psychic, grass/fighting. Quote
Noog Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Yeah, but Water/Psychic has been done WAY too many times. I just want a change of pace :P Quote
Tyler. Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 if Pokabu was fire/psychic. then I would ditch munna and get Kibago this is my strategy a team of Fire Water Psychic Dark Fight Electric I like to have a ground subtype or teach someone ground moves, and if two of the types above are together, then I include a Dragon type Quote
Noog Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I'm just dying to see the starters fully evolved x.x One month and a little less than two weeks until it's released in Japan. Then we just need to give serebii time to get it all in somewhat decent english. Quote
tempdisplay Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I was thinking: Grass/Dark - Ninja Fire/Psychic - Sensei (a big with long beard ^_^) But now I think Fire/Steel because they'll be 3 in the Pokedex (Victini and this other one from the "leaked" Pokedex on PokeJungle... Water/Fighting - Samurai :D We should all say our predictions and see would be was right ;) Quote
The Score in Blue Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I like all of the Pokemon games, although it is hard now with all of the games... keep them coming! I also like the VAs from the Pokemon series: Sean Schemmel, Veronica Taylor... etc Curiosity, do VAs do the video games as well, or the Pokemon sounds are computer generated? Quote
ΩCCΩ Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 As I only have a PSP, I can't play any of the Pokemon games so I play it online on the site pokemonindigo.com. Quote

If it's fire/psychic, then each starter would be both strong and weak against the other two. Quote
Anime Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I think all the sounds in the games are computer generated. They use VAs in the anime so (one) it sounds better with the others and (two) they can vary the voices for Pokemon with different personalities/importance. There's no need to do that in the game, so CG it is. Quote

That's what I was thinking also. Ninjas(/Dark), Senseis(/Psychic) and Samurais(/Fighting) are of Japanese heritage so they're final formes could be a last homage to Japan since Isshu is supposedly based on New York. Darn, I should have stuck with Fire/Psychic regardless. Now I've lost xD Quote
Noog Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Isshu is based on New York? ROFL That just made my day. Quote
Theresa2 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 In ealeir post you guys were talking about the pachirisu are you able to get them in soul siver or there going to be in the newer pokemon game coming Quote
Noog Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Pachirisu? I'm sure that you can get them after you get the National Pokedex. On thursdays your pokemon music channel on the radio will play the sinnoh sound. If you have your radio on that when you walk through the grass you can find 4th gen pokemon. I'm not sure where to find them though...*checks* Nevermind. This information isn't important. The below is what you actually have to do. They are in the Safari Zone. Place 8 forest objects in the "wetlands" area and wait for the Warden of the Safari Zone to call you and say that the pokemon have changed. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 Isshu is based on New York? ROFL That just made my day. This made my day as well. Cause NY is awesome like that. b) Quote
Noog Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Where will CAV be in Isshu? o_O TDN Video Game Addict Chris wants to battle! Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 Where will CAV be in Isshu? o_O TDN Video Game Addict Chris wants to battle! I'm in the city with the people in it...and the pokemon center.....and the pokemart... What happens when I get the game? I don't want to battle myself, that'd be weird. Quote
Noog Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Too bad in Pokémon Battle Revolution you have to battle yourself, basically your own Pokémon. That's only in the Neon colliseum, if the openent gets your Pokémon. It's hurts me when I defeat my own Pokémon, especially the low levelled ones. In the Neon Colosseum I always use same-level pokemon or a rental pass for the open level rule. It's a lot better once you beat the game and you get to do lvl. 50 all. Quote
Noog Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Castform? I've never seen anyone actually using that before. Quote
Noog Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Yeah, well I only just started using it though. :P My Haunter has the best moves for a ghost type though, it knows Nightmare, Hypnosis, Shadow Ball and Shadow Claw. Uh...shadow claw? Haunter/Gengar has horrible attack stats. I like Mismagius as a ghost type (not sure if I spelled that right). Quote
Noog Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Yeah, but that's not how EV's work. If you work for his attack then his other stats will suffer. I'm assuming you're not big at smogon or anything because I doubt that you could have such a good record with those pokemon. Quote
Noog Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 You can only work for stats so much. Stat's are based on a system of Effort Values (EVs) and Individual Values (IVs). IVs can be a minimum of 1 and a max of 32. They are random at birth. The higher the number, the higher the potential for the stat. EVs are earned whenever you battle a pokemon. Each pokemon gives certain EVs. For instance, battling a Magikarp will give you 1 speed EV and battling a Bellsprout will give you one attack EV. After every few EVs, you earn 1 point in that stat. I think its one point for every two or four EVs, but I don't remember. You can earn EVs until your pokemon has 510. At that point, your pokemon is fine to level up using only rare candies and who you battle doesn't matter. In addition, you also get EVs by using items like HP Up or Protien. These items give you 10 EVs in the respective area. This system is why raising a wild pokemon from level 40 won't be as good as raising a pokemon from level 1. In addition to EVs and IVs, each pokemon has base stats. Lots of people train using EVs and IVs. They will check their pokemon's IVs with a calculator until they get them as they wish, even if that's getting them all at 32 (which is less likely than getting a shiny pokemon). On sites like Smogon, you can get tips on what movesets to give your pokemon and how to distribute the EVs. Most pokemon will focus on two stats and give 6 EVs to HP. For instance, you might give Aerodactyl 252 Attack EVs, 252 Speed, and 6 to HP. Also on Smogon is arranged battling in "Tiers" and a community (I would suggest looking at the community's custom made pokemon.. They're amazing.). Tiers are based on a pokemon's base stat and it's usefulness. Tiers range from Uber (Most Legendaries and strong pokemon like Garchomp), Overused (OU), Borderline (BL), Underused (UU), and Never Used (NU) (Most NU are not fully evolved). When you arrange a battle in the community, you must use pokemon from the same tier vs. an opponent using pokemon from the same tier. EDIT: It's 4 EVs per Stat Point earned. EDIT2: I almost forgot. In addition, there is also items to speed up earning EVs. First is the Macho Brace. It doubles the amount of EVs you earn from each pokemon. Then there are stat specific items introduced in DPPt. They give you 4 extra EVs of a certain stat after every battle and are only found by spending BP at the battle tower. Here they are: Power Weight - Gains 4 extra HP EVs after every battle Power Bracer - Gains 4 extra Attack EVs after every battle Power Belt - Gains 4 extra Defense EVs after every battle Power Lens - Gains 4 extra Special Attack EVs after every battle Power Band - Gains 4 extra Special Defense EVs after every battle Power Anklet - Gains 4 extra Speed EVs after every battle In addition, it should be noted that in the Battle Factory (at least in HGSS) all of the rental pokemon are EV trained. Noog Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Brain capacity overload. *Explosion* Sorry I can't take it all in. Is there possibly a shorter version? I even added more to the post. Actually, I did shorten it up for you, and explained it in a very easy way. That is how pokemon games have been based since day 1. It's the mechanics that people have been training on for a while now. If you would like a prettier version that you might understand better, I'll link to the psypokes and serebii EV guides. The psypokes guide mentions more, like the pokerus. Serebii has different guides for the Pokerus and such. Pyspokes: EV/Pokerus Serebii: EVs Serebii: IVs Serebii: Pokerus Quote
