Geeting Married

Just letting my friends and associates here at TDN know that on Monday, December 14 I will be GETTING MARRIED!

Last weekend my boyfriend of 51/2 years asked me to marry him, and I of course said yes. We have both decided that we do not like or want a wedding, and that we don't want to wait one more second. So, Monday we are going to the court house, just him and myself, and then we're just going throw a big party, kind of like a reception, for all our friends and family to attend.

I'm so excited that I just had to let the community here know about this major change in my life.

Tara O'Roark will, as of Monday, be Tara Chill. <-Coolest Last Name Ever!

Wow, Tara, that's totally awesome! Congratulations to you and your hubby!

You'll be really happy that you decided to do the ceremony your way, instead of catering to family and friends. Marriage is a private choice between two individuals, and it's one of the things in life that the two of you should be doing for yourselves only. It's nice that you've decided to have a reception afterwards, though. I had planned to do that too, but I got lazy, and kind of forgot about it.

LOL Cute pun! :D It's definitely chillin'. ;)

Congratulations to the both of you! Here's to many more years of bliss and joy (and hopefully many children to brighten your future household with)!

Hope you have a wonderful and perhaps novel wedding ceremony! :D

Thanks Everybody! I'm a married lady now...

My BF and I had been living together and had been dating for 51/2 years, so

today doesn't actually feel any different than yesterday, LOL, still happy though!

It sounds like you did things pretty much the same way I did, only we were together for 7 1/2 years. It really doesn't feel any different, but it really is a nice feeling knowing that you have legal spousal rights.

I'm happy to hear that everything went well on your special day. May the two of you have many long years of happiness!

A little late, but congrats! My husband and I did the same thing, pretty much last year.

We researched before we did anything, and in my state (Colorado) you can officiate your own marriage, in front of the clerk when getting the marriage license. (No need for an offical, judge, priest, whatever.) So my husband and I did that, then we went to a local place that was special to us to exchange rings.

It worked out perfectly for us. Though we are actually planning a ceremony later this year, for our families. His family is all in Florida, so we couldn't get them up here. So we'll do a little... renewing the vows thing, so both of our families can be there.
