ikeris
user called "scamander-in-chief" donates alot of yellow salamanders at the money tree every so often and when you try to catch one you get a very odd message saying that it wiggled away o.O Anyone else get this? flyingeevee
I got that earlier today xD Someone said that it's VERY rare, but some could actually keep it and sell it for around 1 million I think? But yeah...mine wiggled away xD
Bree {BAM}
Actually, yes that did happen to me. O: I want to catch one and NOT have it leave me now!
-Kai-
I've never seen them before and I went to check tem out, when I tryied to get one this is what happened: You grab the Scamander and... [image] It wriggles out of your hand, barely escaping through a hole in the floor. Better luck next time.
Moody
I was so excited to see the Scamanders in the Money Tree and clicked madly more times than I want to admit ^_^ Then I checked and found that there are no Scamander petpets or named items. Then I looked up the user, 'Sacmander_in_Chief, who was donating zillions of these Scamanders - no such user. Ah-ha! A SCAMander SCAM :D I am guessing this is a Halloween time of year bit of fun as in TRICK or Treat. Cool! ~Moody~
hrtbrk
Ugh! I know, right! Whoever gets one, I'm jealous! They're cute little dudes. Maybe there's a trick to it, like only blue/yellow Acaras can get one LOL jk

There is a user Scamander_in_Chief, who's a Neopet Monitor. The Scamander thing at the Money Tree is probably a scam.
hrtbrk
It's not a scam. From an editorial: Issue 364: Hi TNT!!! *waves like a loony* Anyway, I've been wondering... the other day I went to visit the Money Tree and, man, was I surprised! There were hundreds of Scamanders there! Every time they would show up I would frantically click on one to see if I could grab it, but every time I got one a message would pop up that said something to the effect of: "You grab one of the Scamanders but it wriggles out of your hand, narrowly escaping into a hole in the ground!" My question is, is it actually possible to get a Scamander at the Money Tree, or are they just there? Is it possible that the "scam" in the first part of their name has something to do with it? XD Thanx! ~fairyflite95 Nope, it is quite possible to get a Scamander from the Money Tree. It's just extremely rare that someone gets a good enough grip on one to stop it from escaping! http://www.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?...l&issue=
Masaryk
Incidentally, each Scamander that you grab that gets away still seems to count as one of the ten items you can claim from the Money Tree every day. Not proven, but it seemed to be my experience...

It's just extremely rare that someone gets a good enough grip on one to stop it from escaping! http://www.neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?...l&issue=364 Thank you so much for the accurate information - I guessed wrong that it was a scam. Much appreciated Actually there are Scamander petpets and named items. There is a user Scamander_in_Chief, who's a Neopet Monitor. The Scamander thing at the Money Tree is probably a scam. Thank you for the information. I should have been more specific in my post - I meant that I did a search for Scamander from the 'Search Neopets' information box and nothing came up for specific one word exact match "scamander" except a TCG card. I then checked the petpet page at the bottom of Pet Central and did not see a Scamander, nor did any come up at the Auction House. After reading your post, I checked the Trading Post and did see the scamanders, double-checked the other places and nothing is there. Also re-checked for Scamander-in-Chief, and see him today; must have made a typo yesterday. Thanks for your time. Tyler.
That's cool they're back. I haven't been seeing any though. And I want to sell one because I am poor EDIT: scamander_in_cheif's lookup says he started playing in October 1999. But that's not possible. o_O
Tre Le Coco
Obviously its one of the original accounts that was used for testing neopets before it opened to the public *nods* On the site I work on we have a couple of original accounts that were made before official opening :)
