Do you think I was scammed?

I'm trying to get the packrat tonight, about 450 hundred away, so I figured I'd use the Project Packrat list and start getting all of the junk, 1np, items I don't have.

 

I get to the Old Rotten Right Sandal. I click to buy the shoe and it takes me to a page that says Neopets is offline. I quickly exited, to change my password, but all I remember was there were buttons on the top, stating all the different languages? And the buttons were red. The only other thing that I remember is that it said "Are you new to neopets?" along with some other text.

 

Totally not normal. It surely didn't look 'official' and Neopets surely wasn't offline. I looked in my history, to report it, and this page doesn't exist. It says that I bought the sandal like I normally would have AND it is in my inventory.

 

Whaaaaaat? :eh:

 

Was it a keylogger, or a CGer or what haha. I didn't enter any information so who knows. Hope all is well. *crosses fingers*

It's hard to say for sure. I've seen the "Neopets is offline" page several times in the past few days when trying to refresh official Neopets shops, dailies, etc. The page does look rather crappy. It prominently features the red "Down For Maintenance Pteri" and suggests that you play one of the random group of games while waiting.

 

It's hard to say if someone spoofed the page to CG or not. It's good that you changed your password right away. I would also suggest setting a PIN. If you're really worried about having been CGed, visit the "Account Access" form to find out what info you will need to give TNT to get your account back if it gets stolen. It's much easier to do that ahead of time than to try to remember account details when you're account is frozen.

You need to hurry up and change your password. If you did get your pass out, maybe they haven't used it yet.

It just sounds like the "Neopets is Down" page to me, to be honest; nothing to get too panicked over. I was having a bit of trouble with the site around that time too (though for me it just wouldn't load for a few minutes.) But changing your password never hurts anything, and if nothing else it makes you feel better, so it's worth doing just for that. ;)

I agree. I'm not TOTALLY sure, but I think it was just the Down to Maintenance page. However, it's a good thing that you changed your password immediately. Add/change your pin, and you should be safe.

I got that page over the weekend... when Neo had some database problems.

Alrighty! Sounds good. Nothing happened but it was just so random. It also didn't look "neopets" at all, but then I found out it is a maintenance page haha.

Weird nonetheless.

Good. :) I'd change my password and pin just in case the CG'ers got smart, although I kinda doubt it, or else it'd be all around the boards. Congrats on not being scammed? :P
