Mantis
there are jewish people on Neopets ( such as myself) and I get tired of always seeing christmas Paint brushes in the auctions and TP, I think that there should be a Khanukkah Paint Brush to equalize... or maybe other Khanukkah themed items as well during the advent calendar
Sapphy the Swamp Witch
What would the pets look like then? XD The Christmas Paint Brush is only symbolising the commercial side of Christmas with all the green, red, snow, stockings and that sort of stuff. It's not supposed to be symbolising the religious side. I think it's unlikely that TNT will release such a Paint Brush.
Mantis
yeah, I know what you mean... I just think that its kind of wierd that there is a religious themed paint brush in general... but I get that they are going on about the commercial side and that Khanukkah is not that commercial
Lia Seeya
I think Neo prefers to stay away from things that deal with religion in general. Like Sapphy said, the Christmas Paintbrush is more of a Terror Mountain/decorative part than a real religious-themed PB.
Masaryk
What I want to know is why is it a Christmas Paint Brush if Neopia doesn't have Christmas? They have the Day of Giving instead. I thought they were aiming to remove as much real world stuff as possible from Neopets. It probably should have been a Happy Valley Paint Brush, since it matches the aesthetic of Happy Valley. That would make more sense considering the other regional PBs. I like it that Neopets doesn't have Christmas. Sorry, but I don't think that religion belongs in Neopia. Mysticism, yes. There's faeries, after all, but religion shouldn't be there. That's just my two cents.
malindamya
maybe they could release one which paints you white with small blue star of david's...im not jewish but i would love to paint my kiko as that!
lovedwallflower
i really dont think religion should come into it at all.. lots of ppl play neopets and not all of them are jewish, christian etc. the christmas paint brush, as ppl have said, isnt religous at all, its not like the pets are turning into baby jesus or something (LOL)
Nelly_Bulgaria
I think the whole idea of Christmass Paint Brushes is bad...If there is a Christmas PB, then there should be a Easter PB, New Year PB, and something like that....
Ashbash
Maybe they should just rename the christmas paint brush. Holiday paint brush would make it politically correct. . . I think.
lovedwallflower
what would a new year pb make the pets look like? i think if theres to be a new paintbrush it should be shenkuu or one of the worlds that dont have paintbrushes already
Nelly_Bulgaria
yeah i just said that :D that there shouldn`t be a christmas pb, it`s the same like the new year`s pb.Shenkuu paint brush is a good idea... :)
Deepti M.
Yeah, but then what about all the other religions? You're forgetting about Islam, Catholics, Kwanzaa, and more.
Ashbash
Catholics celebrate Christmas so that one would already be taken care of. I agree with what most said and that is that religion should be left out of neopets.
Mantis
Maybe they could just Rename the PB, and maye change the look slightly so it dosent look so Christmasy
Lion
 Christmas paint brush is different than a religious PB, because I know of a few religions that celebrate it: it's not just a Christan theme. Religion isn't allowed to be spoken of on Neo, so why should there be a PB that's religious?
Mantis
ehe... I didnt realize that this was gonna turn in to such a talked about topic... but I dont ge how a paint brush called "christmas Paint brush" can not be religious... its the name of a holiday
Masaryk
Maybe they could just Rename the PB, and maye change the look slightly so it dosent look so Christmasy Personally, I think that most of the Christmas pets are really tacky. I wouldn't care if TNT just ditched it altogether. Then again, I find Christmas to be really tacky, in general. I do agree that Christmas, as portrayed by the paint brush, is not at all religious. But it doesn't change the fact that Christmas did originate as a religious holiday, even if it is just a commercial free-for-all now. I know that a lot of different cultures like to celebrate "Commercial Christmas," even if they don't follow the Christian religions. But it would be more inclusive of those people who don't care about Christmas to have named the paint brush differently.
Sapphy the Swamp Witch
On Neopets Christmas is totally commercialised now, I really don't think it has anything to do with religion there. It's just supposed to be a pretty decoration for pets. (Think about it - the religious side of Christmas has nothing to do with Santa, stockings, or green-red-and white, does it?) I just hope it doesn't bother you too much...
SarafinaWolf7
I agree that TNT should keep religion out of Neopets. I think it makes it easier for people to enjoy it if there's no religion involved. There's also another holiday PB - Halloween. Like Christmas it's largely commercial nowadays. According to Wikipedia: "It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints’ Day. It is largely a secular celebration, but some Christians and pagans have expressed strong feelings about its religious overtones." Why did TNT pick Halloween and Christmas as bases for PBs? Because they're the most well-known holidays?
Deepti M.
I don't think it has anything to do with religion. They're not trying to make it related to religion. They're trying to get the commercial side of it. Halloween shows the mysterious side of neopets, some would even say the "evil" side of neopets. The Christmas PB shows the stocking, santa, and cheerful side of the holiday. It shows that you should count your blessings. I'm not Christian, yet we celebrate the commercial side of Christmas. Many people do
Mantis
well Halloween is more of an American holiday celebrated by pretty much all religions that live in America... but Christmas is not celebrated by people of Jewish religion or Hindu, or many other religions for that matter... they are kind of thrusting that upon people
Coco
The elements of Christmas aren't even purely Christian. They're of pagan origin if I'm not mistaken but we'll reserve that for another topic. The Paint Brush shouldn't even be debatable, as is the Halloween one. As others mentioned before, what Neopets is selling is the secular, commercial side of these holidays. Not like it's important for every Neopets player to even know the origins of these holidays by heart, anyway.
Mantis
They could have then just named the PB something like " Holiday Paint Brush" and the halloween could be " Scary Paint Brush" Im fine with the halloween one, but I just am tired of Christmas
Deepti M.
No offense, but I think you're overreacting. How would people feel if there was a Hannukah paint brush? There isn't really a commercial side of Hannukah and people would be complaining like you are right now. I'm not trying to sound rude, but I think you're making a big deal out of nothing.
Mantis
Yeah I kinda put the Khanukah thing on there to bring attention to the fact that there is a holiday themed Paint Brush and TNT is so anti Religion. I made a post one time about something about bieng jewish, and I got a warning from TNT about not posting religious stuff
