Cajun
Hello all! I did a quick search of the forum to see if there were any similar threads and I couldn't find any that discussed this topic exclusively. So if this is a repeat or something...I'm sorry. Anyway.. Do you think the features that come with being a premium are worthwhile? If so, please explain. Does it really add to the game overall? Or do you think it's not much different from the free version? Superfly
I use to have premium and I think really the best things were: 1 - Super Shop Wizard 2 - Premium Only Boards 3 - Beta Games It doesn't really add to the game overall at all, just a few extra "bonus" features. Xepha
I agree with Superfly. I'd add that I believe it depends of the amount of time you spend on Neopets too...
luv2lindy77
There are also the additional Something Has Happened events. They usually give a few hundred NPs and an item worth up to a couple of thousand NPs. I get the SHH event every couple of days. There's also a weekly space faerie scratchcard which gives usually a few hundred to a couple thousand NP (with a chance for an item or the jackpot). dazngurl
i dont have premium so i dont know if i can help you that well but here's what i think. it really depends if you spend a lot of time on neopets. so at least you'll be logging on often. the one thing i really like about premium (my friend has it) is the super shop wizard. it finds you the cheapest price for an item. personally, i think its not much different from the free version, overall. but hey, if you want premium.. then you should try it out and see for yourself. hope that helps! >>dazngurl<<
Tam
I have premium and I love it, while im not a huge restocker, the SSW speeds up my pricing ten fold. The bonuses like scratchcards are good too.
Omnalu
I've been wondering the same thing myself for a bit now. I log on Neopets for a few hours each day so I think it would be worth it for me. But if you are a casual Neopets user, I don't really think it would be worth it. There's a lot of other things you could use that $70 for than a website you long onto every few days. tempdisplay
Yeah this type of post is good for someone like me, well when I'm old enough for credit cards.
Zhiba
I do not have it,but i would like to. Mostly because of the Super Shop Wizard,No Paid Advertisements and Weekly Space Faerie Scratchcards.. :D I have heard if you get the Premium,it is more chance of getting "somthing has happend" event, but i do not know if it is true. If true, does that mean that you have too refresh the portal,to get a better chance of having "something has happend" event? Woud be cool if it was true... :woot:
Lion
No ads is no bonus - many block it with Adblock Plus for Firefox. The SSW - sure, it can find the cheapest items. but you can only use it for a little while. The Scratchcards - same chance as a normal card The boards - really, what's so good about a few extra boards? Portal - you can decide on that one. Beta games - you decide... That's just my view of it, so I don't think it's worth it.

That's just my view of it, so I don't think it's worth it. SSW is very profitable, and unless you refresh like crazy, you can get good snipe... like petpetpets for 1k instead of 70k :P. Or twenty dubloon coin for 2k :P I'm just saying. It's profitable. Scratcards every friday, you DO win on it. All the time. Being a loser is not an option. The boards are love. They are not crowded with spammers and newbies. It's just a safe place where to hang out with mostly mature people :) Portal... I don't use it so much. But you can accurately say when your neofriends are online or when they were last time. Was a good reminded to play monthly competitions too... and useful to track stock market quickly. You also get Something Has Happened emails if you visit it (random, max once a day). I got some UB items from it ;) Beta game is a must to cover content here at TDN. Screenies and all. I just need that to do my "job". There is also the referral program. You get some lovely prizes for that ;).
Lion
Teehee, I was wondering if V would come back at me like that xD I don't know much about Premium, but I do know that if you want it then you have to be a COMMITTED neopets player (i.e 2-4 hours on neo each day). Masaryk
Part of me really wants Premium, but I hate the idea of paying subscription fees for games. I know that I spend enough time on Neopets to benefit from Premium, but I still have a hard time justifying the expense for something I can play for free. I've been mentally debating it for a long time now, but as much as I want to, I still can't seem to make myself do it.
Anoriel
I'm a new Premium-member, had it for one day. And I'm beginning to like it more and more. The Super Shop Wiz is very practical, and I like that I can design my own page a bit.. Modules and themes. I'm not sure how worth it is yet, to me anyway, but I guess it will be after a little while :)

I've been mentally debating it for a long time now, but as much as I want to, I still can't seem to make myself do it. I did get it for a discounted price... and that made me feel better. In December, they give a discount if you suscribe for a full year XD And also, it was my Christmas gift from me to me. XD. But you have a point. The whole premium thing is optional. You pay to get some more features, but the game play isn't affected.
Jikuu
Part of me really wants Premium, but I hate the idea of paying subscription fees for games. I agree with you, but someone once made a very good point when justifying the subscription price of World of Warcraft. "It keeps me from buying other games." Granted, I don't think you're a fellow to buy a video game or tabletop supplement every month, but for those who have that inclination, it's worth a thought. Although, I don't think Neopets is as addictive/fun as WoW...
Guest HBK
Well, we have to take this from two different perspectives: The first one is from a Neopets Premium user. I will not state all the obvious benefits, which were written above, but the main point is having the SSW and Premium boards. I think that alone justifies having Premium. You can make TONS of profit from the Wiz, and the Neoboards are spam-free because all those n00bs are too poor to spend money on a website which they will be frozen every week or so. Anyways, the other is a non-paying Neopets user. Most of them are kids/teens from ages 6-16, and those are simply the bigger essence of Neopets nowadays. Most Premium users, as confirmed on the HC, are adults, and kids don't generally have that much disposal income available to them. Their parents generally buy stuff for them, and this is limited/expanded by two factors: - Country of residence - if Neopets is not advertised in your country, people won't really know it and those are less likely to have parents playing/buy Premium. Countries which don't have NC Cards or even Paypal support for Neopets are limited (like here in Portugal - Paypal is available, but no NC Cards, so I cant buy anything); - Neocash - this feature (NC Mall) has most of the Neopian population enticed. Why? Well, if your parents play Neo, they'll generally buy NC for their kids. This results in a double consequences - more cash for TNT/Viacom, and more addiction to the website by parents/their kids.

I've been mentally debating it for a long time now, but as much as I want to, I still can't seem to make myself do it. I feel the same way. I know that i am on enough to benefit and I know it would probably be a nice upgrade and all but i can't bring myself to buy it. I just can't justify paying for something that is practically the same game without the money being spent. At the same time though SSW would be nice. We have Paypal here in Oz, but no NC cards, so I can't buy anything either. Plus, there has only been 2 McDonalds promotions and 1 ad which was playing for a couple of weeks. My Mum doesn't even know what the NC Mall is, let alone that you have to pay real money to buy stuff for your neopets in it... (therefore, I can't buy premium...) petpenelope8
Well Xepha has convinced me, at least. So, as soon as i get my own credit card I am getting premium. So I agree with getting it.
lovedwallflower
well, this is my opinion.. but whilst having SSW and NC Mall stuff is very tempting, i just think that putting real money into something virtual is a bit illogical. Also, (as regards Premium), why pay for something you already more or less get for free? i think that the cons far outweigh the pros when you think about the product youre getting in return
Taliesan
I've had premium twice across two accounts, new and old. Both times the only thing that interested me enough to keep with it was the super shop wizard - but the restriction on its use got annoying ^^ Its not really worth it for me anymore, it costs too much for what it offers. The scratch card was ok too I guess but I never had anything half decent from it - beta games i couldnt use, i never signed up for the tests in time. Boards are so quiet its not worth posting. Meh, super shop wizard is the only bit I can say i thought was worth it...
Utena
I think the same way as fusilla. I'm kind of old (25) and therefore probably old fashioned, but I have a hard time being willing to plunk down real money for something fake on the internet, especially something fake that I can already mostly get for free. This doesn't just apply to neopets, but also LJ accounts and other things like that. I dunno, I'm strapped for cash as it is. If I'm going to give money to the internet, it better at least send me a real book or a real pair of shoes in return.
Ashbash
I never realized premium was 70 dollars. That is extremely expensive. Any thoughts I had about getting it have gone out the window now.
