Any cheap way to guarantee lowering your pet's level?

My pet's right on level 80, and if he gets to level 81, I have to use 4 codestones for training. However, my other stats are not yet at a decent ratio compared to the level (at 80, the max should be at 160 for strength and defense, while mine are at 127 and 107). Obviously, to save codestones, I don't want to use 4 codestones for those stats. So, in the off chance that my pet goes up another level (I'm avoiding Kitchen Quests and Light Faerie Quests now), is there a cheap way to guarantee lowering a pet's level? Von Roo might lower, but can raise as well, and the lab ray's just too unpredictable. :/

Make your other pet active, and if you get a faerie quest that up level, don't do it. That should prevent you from gaining an unwanted level...

I had that problem too a while back...

Of course I was only on level 20. I just don't BD that much.

There is one way, but the item is fragile and could break forever so I've never used it myself. They're called "Fake von Roo Fangs" and were once a hidden tower item... worth around 20 mil these days. They have a chance of permenantly removing a level from you if your opponent uses it against you in the Battledome. You're probably better to just avoid the appropriate quests though!

I think Deadly dice is really the best way to do it. I mean, even if you do go up a level, I'm sure it will be easy to lose it just as quickly without having to cough up 20 mil.
