There might a curse on the Altador Cup, as my coworker BlackJaguar is reporting: "During Y8, Neopets released a summer tournament called The Altador Cup and since then it's been on every year. But many say that there is something behind the prestigious Cup, something more sinister, they called it "The Cursed Cup". Many noticed that who ever wins the Cup gets weaker the following year. Haunted Woods manage to get the honor of being proclaimed as the champions of the first Altador Cup but the following year they got thrown down. The same thing is happening with the current champion, Darigan Citadel. There are several rumors why this is happening. Some believe that the Cup attracts free loaders and newbies which cause the average power of the team to weaken. Others say that the game is built that way so that no team would win twice thus ruining the beauty of the Cup. Some believe that it's a conspiracy made by those teams who didn't win the Cup while some even said that it's just plain bad luck. But whatever is the truth behind the Altador Cup, people will continue to play this game for honor, for sportsmanship and for the prizes. I have no idea why it is like that, all I know is that if KI win this year, doesn't mean I am not going to support them next becuase they are destined to loose. But the freeloaders thing can not have anything to do with it, as everyone keeps saying "freeloaders cannot hurt your team" I don't know if that has been stated by TNT though. antiaircraft Posted July 14, 2008 Share Posted July 14, 2008 Well since we don't know exactly what system TNT uses to account for team numbers and such, there's no absolute way we can say whether or not freeloaders affect a team's performance. Absolute Posted July 14, 2008 Share Posted July 14, 2008 I think that freeloaders definitely reduce a team's score. Not only are we noticing this phenomonon, but I recall something from the first AC that said something about "Just because you're on a big team doesn't mean that your team will always win, if everyone on a small team plays then they will probably win" or something like that. I guess there's no way to prove it for sure, but from TNT's standpoint it only makes sense that they would at least try to even out the playing field for a small team by making the team's scores into ratios of points vs people rather than just points. I guess there's at least one freeloader on every team...? (please correct me if I'm wrong) But, my question is, how does TNT know who's a freeloader and who isn't? People freeload because they think that team will win again... so they wont play any and bring the team down hoping to get prizes for being on the team 2. But Darigan has a chance a small microscopic chance (I finally got it right!) of winning today againest KI if it's cleanly swept by KI, we will be out of the running for the 4th place. Guest Mdmarvel of Haunted Woods Posted July 15, 2008 Share Posted July 15, 2008 Maybe the thing why they don't make a team win 2 Cups is to be fair to other team (Well that's at least what I think) and there goes team Haunted Woods this year they are being a much weaker team last year they ranked higher than this year so I think every Altador Cup year is making the winning teams in other years weaker and weaker (OR MAYBE THE NEWBIES HAVE DISCOVERED THE ALTADOR CUP AND PLAYED IT EVERYDAY AND EVERY HOUR MAKING THE OTHER TEAMS WINNERS AND AS OTHER TEAMS START LOSING THE PLAYERS WHO HAVE BEEN IN THE WINNING TEAMS IN THE PAST YEARS JUST TRIED OUT THE TEAM OR JOINED ANOTHER TEAM) :graduated: but this is just the third Altador Cup and we do not know yet what will happen in the future Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I mean they are a real and unfortunate problem in the whole Neopet world so why should the cup be any different? I just can't help but find it fishy that Faerieland doesn't do better. I mean even with free loaders, the brush is so popular. And really everything else having to do with faeries is just so trendy, I find it all just a tiny little bitty bit suspect...
