Wondering how much an ownership change is going to be noticable to the end users. JumpStart and TNT sound like they are well aware that their fans are pretty hardcore and quick to protest unpleasant changes, as can be seen in this discussion and others around the web. So, if they have plenty of intelligence (which I think they do... except for when TNT "fixes" bugs in unfair ways), they will make changes slowly and carefully.

It would be nice if they had a suggestion box on the website! :P

Meanwhile, I will continue to wake up in the morning with the thought "What if they drastically change the Altador Cup? How will that change my Summer plans? What if I have no reason to bash my keyboard out of frustration anymore?"

    Time for a status report:

My purple progress bar is sitting tantalizingly just past half full. I had to stop battling for a few hours to attend to other things.

I have had to promise my pets an extended holiday at the AstroVilla (you know, the posh hotel in downtown Neopia Central where they serve Filet of Beef and Triple Chocolate Shell every night in the grand dining room) just to get them to agree to continue this "miserable excuse for a war". The two who have not been battling have partnered up with their siblings behind my back and insist on the same treatment for having to put up with all the fuss.

The potion vendors have started greeting me by name, and the last time I saw the bank manager, just at bank closing time, he was waving to me from a brand new car I have never seen him in before. I'm planning on finding out when and where he parks it unattended.

Commander Flint rolls his eyes every time my poor Grarrl limps into the arena for his turn. I think he has gotten tired of the Purple Sticky Hand smacking him in the face when it misses. As for my Kau, I admire her determination- she is my weakest pet and is fully aware that I am sending her in with no hope of winning. She wears her superhero cape with pride and continues to hum her personal theme song as she pitifully battles for a mere five seconds before losing. Maybe I shouldn't let her have so much borovan?

And so our bedraggled clan makes our way through the battling, to the dome for an earnest effort to steal Flint's Jade Scorchstone and take him by surprise, followed by a brief thrashing by the other opponents, and then back home again to heal up. No matter the outcome at the end of this war, our heads will be held high.

I am currently doing something known in the gaming world as "grinding". It means performing a repetitious, tedious task for what is hoped to be a worthwhile reward.

This final tier is knocking my lights out. My poor pets have bandages, bruises, and are moaning with every limp. I'm sure there are many who are worse off than mine, being that I heard horrifying stories from the neohospital during the last wave.

I am winning maybe 1:15 - 1:20 rounds. All the rest are losses. I'm seeing neopoints fly out of my pockets and into the pockets of the healing potion vendors. I wish them well. The bank manager laughs with glee every time I trudge morosely into the bank for another withdrawal. Him I think insidious thoughts about.

My final thoughts as I zone out, mechanically going through the motions that seem to gain me the most wins, are about this year's Altador Cup. I hope this event serves as motivation both for me and for my neopets- during the Cup, perhaps we will think back and say, I survived a war, how hard can this be?

I've been "off" Neopets and TDN for a few years now, basically just checking in when events happen. Used to be on Neopets for a few hours every day :) being active with guilds, malls, and even updating a Neopets help website at 3:00 AM local time to have the crossword puzzle answers out :sleeping_03anim: . So much has happened since then and I balance so many different projects across work, family, and leisure time that I have learned not to make commitments just in case I can't follow through- I just try to be there and help out wherever and whenever I can. So here I am, back on Neopets and back on TDN trying to keep up with stuff while sipping my morning coffee. I want you all to know I think TDN really is the best Neopets help site on the web- the staff and fans all feel like a great big family!
